I'm sick of Keir Starmer's dodging over Peter Mandelson. He said he wasn't aware PM hadn't passed security vetting. He's been asked again and again about this. The knives are definitely out for him and I would be glad to see the back of him.

He’s told so many lies he’s at the point he can’t remember what he’s said, when and to whom. He’s either lying, or didn’t ask the explicit question ‘has he cleared security vetting’. Neither is a good outcome. I dread to think what other security vetting he’s ignored, or forgotten to ask about.

I think he will cling on. If he really didn't know he hasn't got his finger on the pulse. I agree neither answer is a good outcome.

But Why would he risk his political career over Peter Mandelson? It doesn’t make any sense.

They will want him in charge for the May elections though I expect, so he can take the fall out from those. This really is difficult for him to wriggle out of though, either dishonest or incompetent.

That may be the case, but surely if you’re looking to appoint a controversial figure to such a high profile role, the first question you ask is ‘has he cleared security vetting’. Not just assume someone will let you know if there’s a problem.

Whatever any process or vetting said, the correct response should have been: "Mandelson? Are you having a laugh?!"

Starmer has handled the Iran war very well, and told Trump where to go. The press don't like him as he doesn't protect the interests of the rigth wing press barons.

There is no point him lying or pretending he didn't know/ wasn't told. Of course he knows about vetting. Of course he knew Sneaky Pete wouldn't pass.

How about Peter Mandelson? Highly experienced, fantastic connections, great at interviews, has the common touch. A true exponent of Labour values and standards. 👍

I believe him. With his lawyer background I can't imagine him even considering giving the job to someone who'd failed security checks.

It's very interesting that no one is willing to say who they think shoukd take charge. Probably because they are ashamed to admit they are going to vote reform or green because they know, deep down, how moronic that is and how stupid they are to fall for populism.

A lot of people care. Just because you don’t care about what his involvement was with Epstein doesn’t make it okay. The files are more than trafficking if you have a look at them.
