Both the parents outside with the kids, several kids running around screaming at 6.30am. Do people have no shame?

it's called a joke, have you not seen the "it's what x would have wanted" joke format before?

Ah I've never heard of that joke format before. Thats possibly why i dont understand why its funny

I've always wondered why an Easter bunny leaves eggs.

If you unwrap those mini foil eggs you will find out………naughty bunny.

Monty36 · 05/04/2026 13:11

When small we certainly did not go out in the garden making a racket at 6.30. Nor did anyone else.
Up, eggs indoors, church.

Weird comment.

I think it was a joke

Namechange568899542 · 05/04/2026 13:16

I agree with you OP. People letting their kids out to make noise in the garden before 9am on a weekend is a piss take.

Ginburee · 05/04/2026 13:24

Do you live near me?
And their next door but one neighbour let's the dog out to bark at 0600 every morning.
The children go out anytime from 6 most weekdays and weekends. It drives me nuts.
It may only be once a year but do it inside at that time.

ObligateAerobe · 05/04/2026 13:24

"Do people have no shame"

It's irritatingly early, sure, but shameful? They were children playing a traditional game during a religious festival, hardly 'shameful'.

Yes but this isn’t about pre planning or doing the ‘right’ thing. It’s about kids having fun 🥲 good lord people are utterly miserable

I agree. What a bunch of misery guts.

It’s one day a year. Don’t be such an Easter Grinch.

This.

And you use your parent words and say "not now it's too early, let's pop Watership Down on then we'll all be in the mood for some egg hunt fun after that"

Watershipdown - yeah that’s cheery

iamtryingtobecivil · 05/04/2026 13:51

I’ve cut my grass since my earlier replies - front and back - I hope I am
not hunted down by the MN garden mafia, and we will have our Easter Sunday Roast in the evening and I don’t give a screaming fig. My life not disturbed anyone.

I am pleased my kids are older now and I don’t have to worry about this sort of judgemental nonsense.

Twooclockrock · 05/04/2026 13:55

I wouldn't do it. But would not have an issue if my neighbours did that.

I love a good mow on a Sunday. To be fair, I’ll start at 9am. Pisses the bloke off across the road, but he’s a prick, so worth it.

Its what Jesus would have wanted

So fucking immature. It's a religious festival, the fact that it has turned into a chocolate day for non-believers doesn't make comments like this less ignorant.

Christians are able to find humour in their faith.
Its just human.

Arguably there are many cultures that celebrate the coming of springtime with symbols of new life (eggs, chicks, lambs, bunnies, flowers, mars bars)

JulietteHasAGun · 05/04/2026 15:05

It’s obnoxious of the parents to allow it. I’d have been very tempted to stick my head out the window and yell at them to STFU to be honest.

Justnetballandcoffee · 05/04/2026 15:06

At 6.30 they should ask the kids to keep it down if they're being very loud but that is the time kids get up and hunt for their eggs

Just because the kids get up at that time doesn’t mean you have to indulge them. When I was a kid at Xmas my parents had a rule on Xmas day that we weren’t allowed downstairs until they got up. So we had to sit on the stairs quietly until they did.

when my Dd was little i wouldn’t have let her out in the garden early at a weekend regardless of what time she woke up. I’d have explained it was too early and she could do something inside until 9am. It’s not hard and it helps children learn to be considerate of others.

Here we go ….. offended at everything brigade out at Easter

So having an opinion different to yours is the “offended at everything brigade?” Hmm

That dog would have something dropped into its garden to make it bark more! Joking…. Why do idiots like this do this?

I'm a weekly attending Christian from a family of multiple clergy and I thought it was funny

One of my Catholic friends had a sort of go at me the other day when I said “oh my god” without thinking, she said it was a venal sin or something. I thought I prob should repent by saying a few Hail Marys. I’m not Catholic but went to a convent so know the ropes. My other Catholic best friend when I told her was totally unfazed by it. She’s worked for a Catholic diocese too.

ChristmasRager · 05/04/2026 15:26

It’s Easter Sunday - one of the most magical and exciting days of the year for little kids. I wouldn’t let this get to you - try and focus on their joy and be happy for them
