Cake-gate at work

EnfysDilys · 31/03/2026 18:43

I made some Easter cakes for work colleagues today, enough for everyone with a few to spare.
One woman ate eight! She cheerfully announced this in front of everyone at lunchtime. This meant not everyone had one.
WIBU next time to leave a note reminding her to share! Or hiding them from her? Or setting an alarm around them …

An old colleague of mine had a similar problem with her boss at the time, he'd scoff all the treats in the office. She got so pissed off, she made a big batch of brownies with that laxative chocolate and left them on his desk. He set off for a meeting in his car, a 40 minute journey on the motorway. Halfway along, he sharted 💩

Charming.

They were Easter nest cakes 🐣 when she announced she’d had eight, a fair few people said they’d not had one cos they’d all gone, she just said she’d enjoyed them! 🤣

Leave a large sign in the kitchen saying I'm sorry to hear that not all of you got an Easter cake from me, I understand we would have been about 7 short. I did make enough for one each but it appears that someone ate 8. If you'd like to add your name to the list below of you missed out I'll bring you in something after Easter.

I know it's a pain to have to make more but everyone will talk about it and she's unlikely to do it again. If she says anything you could suggest she pays for the extra ingredients for the next batch.

Orangy · 31/03/2026 20:34

Can you do what happened in Matilda and buy the greedy colleague a massive cake and force her to eat every last crumb, on the basis that she clearly loves cake?

Check the disciplinary policy first, of course.

RodeoClown · 31/03/2026 20:39

Eight Easter nests! 😵What was going through her mind!

I once worked in an office that had glass fronted fridge of drinks in and a woman started work and on her first day she took a load, like twenty cans, of drinks out and put them in her bag. She said that because they were free she couldn’t see what the problem was.

nam3c4ang3 · 31/03/2026 20:40

some people can be so disgusting can’t they. Gross. 🤮

Any normal person would eat one, enjoy it, and then ask effusively for the recipe - in the hope that you'll say "There's one each and then there are a few spare after that, so why not grab a second one?!"

I can't believe she's scoffed them all herself right now - I reckon she's taken them home for the whole family to have a couple each.

"She's a mother, you see; and if you are/were too, you will/would understand!!"

We had on e of these at my old work. I remember one woman’s husband delivered a cake for her birthday,he was a pastry chef and it was a work of art. Selfish mum wanders up and announces ‘I’ll take a big bit home for xxxx, he’ll love that!’ The woman who’s cakes it was said ‘actually can you wait until everyone who wants it in the office has a piece please as that is who it is for!’ You would have thought she’d taken a shit in selfish mums tea the way she reacted.

PatriciaRocks · 31/03/2026 20:44

They're those little cakes made out of chocolate cornflakes with mini eggs on top.
They're small, but even so, 8 seems excessive.

"Large" ladies don't automatically have poor manners! I would have only taken 6! :) Signed, Large Lady!

OnTheGoSlow · 31/03/2026 20:49

@EnfysDilys she couldn’t have eaten 8 surely? She’s probably bagged them up to take home to her kids! A nice Easter surprise for them.

TheFallenMadonna · 31/03/2026 20:50

I mean, it was a bit much, but this is cakes in the office. Some significant overreacting here. If you started being PA about it, I think it would reflect poorly on you.

RaininSummer · 31/03/2026 20:53

Greedy bint.

Really! 🤔 She’s hardly going to do this. No one in their right mind would.

They are very moreish. Only when you're at home, not at work!

3luckystars · 31/03/2026 21:09

They must have been nice !

You made them for others so it doesn’t matter who ate them, I can’t believe she admitted it though!!

Droppit · 31/03/2026 21:12

I am simultaneously disgusted and impressed

Are they the little cakes made from cornflakes with mini eggs on top?

If they are, then considering how much some people LOVE mini eggs, she probably took the cakes just for the mini eggs!

I have to say if they had been crisps,I'd have eaten them all before even realising it.

I have to say, I’m not a huge chocolate lover - I’d usually take a packet of crisps over a chocolate bar any day. My ONE exception are Mini Eggs, so I’m relieved they are a ‘seasonal’ treat!

Even so, there’s no way I could put away 8 mini egg cakes, less so have the brass neck to proudly announce it to the office, especially once it became apparent that my utter gluttony meant others missed out entirely.

At least we know what the colleague needs to be giving up for lent…

Helpmechooseausername · 31/03/2026 21:15

Were they Cadbury mini eggs? If so, would it still be considered greedy to eat all the eggs and leave the nests? Asking for a friend...

Just remind her. A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips. Or eight lifetimes in her case.

I don't think OP is suggesting she is a cat.

What a selfish thing to do! Some people are so greedy. DD said they had a pizza day in her office for some international day of recognition. She went into the kitchen and they were all gone as some people had piled plates high with 6 or seven slices. They have no shame.
