Cake-gate at work

EnfysDilys · 31/03/2026 18:43

I made some Easter cakes for work colleagues today, enough for everyone with a few to spare.
One woman ate eight! She cheerfully announced this in front of everyone at lunchtime. This meant not everyone had one.
WIBU next time to leave a note reminding her to share! Or hiding them from her? Or setting an alarm around them …

She is a greedy cow with a lot of front!

CoraPirbright · 31/03/2026 19:57

Oh god selfish greediness like this actually makes me feel a bit queasy 🤮. How on earth can she possibly think that is ok behaviour?!

Next time you do something so lovely for your colleagues, make it clear to Greedy-Guts that it’s one each!!

Merseymum1980 · 31/03/2026 19:21

Now im a big mamma these days but even i couldnt manage 8. Are you sure she hasnt hidden them as a pratical joke or something

As a life long choc fan, I could top out at 6, but would have 1 because someone else brought them in.

That '8 cakes" woman was a selfish piss taker.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 31/03/2026 19:59

That’s incredible! Has she no self awareness at all?

newornotnew · 31/03/2026 20:00

I would never dare, I almost admire the brazen cheek!

HennyMcSoon · 31/03/2026 20:00

I would publically ask who didn't get a cake, make some more and personally deliver their cakes into their hands.

I would tell the other woman that she as completely out of order.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 31/03/2026 18:46

Well they must have been good! You could always go round and give them out to individuals. Does she have form for this?

I'd really like to know what you made!

Yep and don’t give her one next time!! Give them all out and say “oh because you had some last time I had to prioritise those who missed out. Maybe next time”

And that is why I always write a note saying 1 per person only - but to be fair I am known for my bluntness and would call anyone out who took more than one .

The problem is that the first rule of signs is the only people who ever read them - let alone obey them - are the wise, careful, considerate people who never needed the sign to be put up in the first place.

I'm guessing she's in the mindset that it's fine to take them home for the rest of the household (and possibly friends or members of the extended family who may or may not pop around) - so she would justify it to herself that she IS only taking one per person.

They were Easter nest cakes 🐣 when she announced she’d had eight, a fair few people said they’d not had one cos they’d all gone, she just said she’d enjoyed them! 🤣

She must be taking the piss surely! 😳🤣

ChocolateCinderToffee · 31/03/2026 20:03

Wait until she's on leave next time you make them.

RobinEllacotStrike · 31/03/2026 20:03

One woman ate eight! She cheerfully announced this in front of everyone at lunchtime. This meant not everyone had one.

Surely she will be the butt of office cake jokes for evermore #HideTheCake #WhoAteAllTheCake etc & that will be punishment enough. 😁

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 31/03/2026 19:59

That’s incredible! Has she no self awareness at all?

I figured "knew but didn't care".

Lemonthyme · 31/03/2026 20:07

I feel sorry for her. Her poor body full of all that sugar and fat now must feel horrible. What a bizarre thing to do.

ChampagneLassie · 31/03/2026 20:07

i once served a (very large) tray of baklava at a party and clearing up mentioned I was suprised. They’d all gone and someone blurted out he’d eaten 15 of them! His wife admonished him and apologised. I was laughing cause it was fine but I’m incredulous at both theses incedents that people did in first place and then tell others later rather than hiding their piggyness

PrincessScarlett · 31/03/2026 20:08

Next time you bake for work make sure there is an accompanying sign saying "none for Greedy Gwen as she ate 7 people's cakes last time"

BeaLola · 31/03/2026 20:08

I don’t know how many people are in your office but I’m assuming a low number and not say 52 people …

if she said in front of me she had eaten 8 I would probably have looked a bit surprised and said something along the lines of “I hope not as I made them for everyone and if you’ve had 8 there won’t be enough for everyone to have at least 1”

if you do work in a smaller type office next time you make something give them out ignoring her of have them on your desk for people passing so to speak

8 is bloody greedy

SockPlant · 31/03/2026 20:12

that is not ok. TBH if i'd been one of the cake-less ones i would have been VERY direct.

StrawberrySquash · 31/03/2026 20:12

How very rude! I've been known to keep a few back and put them out later/keep for specific people.

Having fewer on display can also help them go further as people naturally take less of the food. Although it sounds like this may not have worked on greedy Gwen.

Beaniebobbins · 31/03/2026 20:15

Don’t leave a note, for the love of god don’t leave a note! Just say something to her. That you were just trying to do something nice and only made enough for one each and now some people have missed out and it’s soured the whole thing a bit. She’s marked her own card though. She’ll go down in history as Sandra-eight-cakes forever more.

GoldbergVariations · 31/03/2026 20:17

Does her name begin with Ju perchance?

LydiaFunnyGums · 31/03/2026 20:18

Take it as a huge compliment OP. Lesson learnt, make more next time!
🎶 If I knew you were coming I’d a baked a cake, baked a cake 🎶
🎶 If I knew you were coming I’d a baked eight more, I’d a baked eight more 🎶
😂

ilovesooty · 31/03/2026 20:22

She was rude. Some people are. Are people really so invested in this?

youbizarrehorse · 31/03/2026 20:23

You should have sent a wee email round saying ‘Hope everyone enjoyed the cakes, but I’ve just realised I used syrup of figs instead of golden syrup by mistake. So, if you had more than one, you might want to stay near a toilet this evening …’

JudgeJ · 31/03/2026 20:25

rwalker · 31/03/2026 19:05

I’m a twat
so I’d make some more with a note on for those of you who missed out due to one person eating 8

I would name her, 'due to CF's name eating 8'.

Conkersinautumn · 31/03/2026 20:25

I'm an overeater but 8 seems extreme. It'd surely make you sick/ give you (deserved) stomach complaints. Did she maybe take some to give to her kids but then. Why would you cover the pilfering with sheer greed?.
