Cake-gate at work

EnfysDilys · 31/03/2026 18:43

I made some Easter cakes for work colleagues today, enough for everyone with a few to spare.
One woman ate eight! She cheerfully announced this in front of everyone at lunchtime. This meant not everyone had one.
WIBU next time to leave a note reminding her to share! Or hiding them from her? Or setting an alarm around them …

Reminds me of the time I won a basket of really nice, pricey milkshakes for my work (a well known charity) some years ago. I won a competition where you had to say why you thought your company deserved it. When they arrived there was definitely plenty for everyone who was in that day. I let everyone know via the intranet, please collect one from reception, hope you enjoy it etc.

And then I saw a couple of young women, on their way back to their desks, arms STUFFED with bottles! To this day I wish I'd said something. Then I had some poor people approach me who didn't even get one bottle. I was so embarrassed.

Some people are just greedy opportunist twats. After that I lost interest in doing anything nice for people at work. Piss takers.

malware · 31/03/2026 19:26

Surely she was joking. Maybe she had 2?

Idrathertalktomycat · 31/03/2026 19:27

MyLimeGuide · 31/03/2026 18:47

Lol! Is she a large lady?

Probably not.

Butchyrestingface · 31/03/2026 19:27

If they'd been rock cakes or chocolate crispy cakes, there but for the grace of God go I, is all I can say.

tachetastic · 31/03/2026 19:28

rwalker · 31/03/2026 19:05

I’m a twat
so I’d make some more with a note on for those of you who missed out due to one person eating 8

This, but rather than saying they're only for those that missed out I would put a large sign next to them saying "No more than TWO this time [Sharon]!" or whatever her name is.

Raindancer411 · 31/03/2026 19:31

That’s disgusting behaviour. Esp to brag about it. Next time I would maybe hand out rather than just leave for people to help themselves or on your desk

Listlostlast · 31/03/2026 19:08

The front on her!! That’s obscenely selfish (and greedy!!) and she didn’t even care when people said they’d missed out?! Blimey. Hard to believe someone could be so completely free of the shackles of manners and societal norms!

Well she will have a front on her if she continues to eat like that! I'm speechless that anyone would admit it though!

BCBird · 31/03/2026 19:33

Selfish behaviour. Someone should have shamed her. CF.

Egit · 31/03/2026 19:33

Oopsamama · 31/03/2026 19:08

Wow, that is rude. Fortunately lots of people these days will refuse to go near home-made treats so at least someone enjoyed your handiwork!

This is just an MN thing

Haha love this I would do the same

HermioneWeasley · 31/03/2026 19:35

I’m a fat greedy twat who loves an Easter nest and even I wouldn’t do that. She’s appalling.

Best compliment to your baking skills you could wish for.
😉😁.

viques · 31/03/2026 19:40

Just remind her. A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips. Or eight lifetimes in her case.

Catlady007007 · 31/03/2026 19:41

Are they the little cakes made from cornflakes with mini eggs on top?

If they are, then considering how much some people LOVE mini eggs, she probably took the cakes just for the mini eggs!

I have to say if they had been crisps,I'd have eaten them all before even realising it.

Pessismistic · 31/03/2026 19:41

EnfysDilys · 31/03/2026 18:53

They were Easter nest cakes 🐣 when she announced she’d had eight, a fair few people said they’d not had one cos they’d all gone, she just said she’d enjoyed them! 🤣

Greedy bitch next time tell everyone to take one from your desk then if are any left let her have one but that’s really cheeky behaviour so much for the team. I would be annoyed if I was you saying hey x you really shouldn’t have taken 8 it’s not fair in the ones who missed out.

Snoopy51 · 31/03/2026 19:42

I could easily eat 8 nest cakes (but I simply would not). This sort of crap drives me mental. Recently we had leftover (large) cookies from a meeting and I put them in the kitchen for staff. Someone swiped the whole lot.

Tacohill · 31/03/2026 19:43

I would have asked why she ate 8 when there were only X available and Y members of staff.

If you make some more I would intentionally go around and hand them out, saying to make sure everyone gets one.
If anyone doesn’t want one then they can turn it down or put it back in the bid for others to have extra servings.

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 31/03/2026 19:43

This is on you to take responsibility for her health - and we all know what too much sugar can do to you, so do make sure you're considerate of her.

Next time, make a batch with sorbitol instead of sugar; and maybe put those ones out first, near her, and tell the others to wait an hour. And we all know why they call that stuff sore-butt-'ole... Grin

MiddleAgedDread · 31/03/2026 19:45

Next time you bake I’d send an email / teams message round along the lines of “cakes in the kitchen, please help yourself but I’d get in there quick before Fat Sandra eats them all” (insert alternative name as appropriate)
I bet she’s one of those people who only has a cuppa soup for lunch but can’t understand why she’s not loosing weight on slimming world?

Hankunamatata · 31/03/2026 19:46

So she ls a cow who likes gloating about getting more than other people!

What a selfish bitch 😲😡

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 31/03/2026 19:48

Any normal person would eat one, enjoy it, and then ask effusively for the recipe - in the hope that you'll say "There's one each and then there are a few spare after that, so why not grab a second one?!"

I can't believe she's scoffed them all herself right now - I reckon she's taken them home for the whole family to have a couple each.

"She's a mother, you see; and if you are/were too, you will/would understand!!"

butmumineedit · 31/03/2026 19:49

And that is why I always write a note saying 1 per person only - but to be fair I am known for my bluntness and would call anyone out who took more than one .

Forestgreenblue · 31/03/2026 19:50

8!!!!!!! Wow!!

Does she have kids she has possibly stashed them for??

canuckup · 31/03/2026 19:52

That's actually impressive
