Why cant they make a gigantic creme egg?

Re the creme egg Easter egg...

Its just a big boring hollow chocolate egg with a creme egg on the side. Why would I buy that instead of a box of 6 creme eggs?

And why cant they just make one massive creme egg?

I’ve never loved Crème Eggs. Kill me now. On the other hand Galaxy enchanted eggs rose gold…. 😋

FYI, I had a deep fried creme egg from the chip shop the other day.

My local chippy charges 25p to deep fry any bar of chocolate you bring in 😝

Lucky you , mine cost £3.50. My son got it for me , for mother's day.

They could do a double shell and fill the hollow bit with the fondant. Like M&S did with salted caramel egg this year. I’d buy it!

ehb102 · 19/03/2026 18:23

I made one once. I wouldn't now as you can't get the old Cadbury's chocolate, the new one is horrid. The recipe for the fondant used corn syrup, which is hard to find here. It was fun but I wouldn't bother again.

Agree completely!

VikingLady · 19/03/2026 13:01

That sounds vile.

But imagine if it was a caramel egg though….

If it was a Galaxy egg, now you’re talking!

Exactly this. I'm a chocoholic but even I draw the line at this sickly cack!

MyTrivia · 05/04/2026 13:37

Because they are too sickly to eat a massive one in one sitting. And how would you preserve it once open? It would get bits of crap in the fondant.

Davros · 05/04/2026 14:53

It would be fun to try. For a while anyway before you have to go and have your stomach pumped

Justnetballandcoffee · 05/04/2026 15:09

That would be too much filling. The egg would need to be very thick chocolate for the proportions to work. A chocolate egg and almost correctly portioned creme egg is much better IMHO.

TrickorTreacle · 05/04/2026 15:23

Whoever starts on a giant creme egg would need to be the same person that finishes it off due to hygiene. Then if it's 8 eggs worth at 200 calories each, that would be 1600 calories all in all. It wouldn't be possible to finish it due to the inside starting to go off after about 24 hours of the egg being opened. Also, blood sugar levels!

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 05/04/2026 15:33

I found a bag of mini cream eggs and made those into cookies. They are a bit more manageable than the full size eggs. You really need to freeze them first though.

MidnightMeltdown · 05/04/2026 15:45

Because it would be massively sickly and probably more than a years worth of calories

Catterbat · 05/04/2026 15:59

The size of bloody creme eggs now is ridiculous. They’re not much bigger than mini eggs. I remember back in the 80s you’d get 6 in a proper sized egg box, now you get 5 tiny ones in a shit square box. Why 5? 5 eggs isn’t even a thing. In 5 years we’ll be getting 2 creme eggs the size of garden peas in a paper bag for £400.

CruCru · 05/04/2026 16:15

NotDavidTennant · 19/03/2026 13:15

Basic maths: the volume of creme increases in proportion to the square of the surface area of the chocolate. So in a giant egg the ratio of creme to chocolate would be completely off.

I was going to say something a bit like this. A friend has a business making lava lamps. One year she made some massive ones for a shop window display but they didn’t work as well. I expect this would be similar.

If it were possible, I’d expect to keep it in the fridge as flies would get to the sticky filling. Ugh.

petproject · 05/04/2026 16:17

There is a real giant one in Cadbury’s World on display

JMSA · 05/04/2026 16:53

I would eat it! But it would be SO heavy to transport, etc 😁

TheShoeLady · 05/04/2026 17:17

You could wear these while eating it!

It could come with a super long chocolate spoon so you scoop out some creme and bite a piece off the spoon with every mouthful

Stop it <drool>

There was until recently, but it's not there anymore.

Not wanting to randomly derail, and should probably start my own thread in Chat... but is anybody else on here mega impressed by just how capacious Transit vans are?

Curly Wurly the size of a fireman’s ladder.

Sold!

RollOnSunshine · 05/04/2026 21:30

Great idea OP. They could name it 'The Diabetes Egg'
