Media pushing Starmer to war

Daily mails headline is “Keir Starmer accused of hand wringing and pearl clutching” and Kemi Badenoch saying he’s “scared”. Then a comment section full of “he’s a coward” “ he’s a chicken” “incompetent idiot” “an embarrassment”.

So are the media pushing Kier Starmer to take us to war then? Is that what they want, because if he did the headlines would be about how we don’t want a war. The man can’t win. But pushing for war and making out Kier to be weak for not doing it is worrying.

It really burns MN that some people live in countries where the funding model is different to our own. Politics of envy.

Citizenship should come with some protections - including your government assisting you when in trouble overseas.

My personal issue with a load of these people - Rio Ferdinand and Jim Ratcliffe, I'm specifically looking at you - is that they openly say "the UK is shit, I'm not paying any tax there", yet no recognition that the fact that they've refused to pay taxes is exactly part of the reason why things have fallen apart. And before anyone comes at me, I've said PART of the reason, not the entire reason. It's incredibly nuanced

I also have conflicting feelings about younger influencers who move to Dubai, specifically to avoid paying tax, yet they are buying up UK property and becoming landlords, removing houses from UK homeowners. And they will almost certainly come back here in a few years, probably when they are ready to potentially have a family and expect the NHS to pay for their midwifery care, etc., despite deliberately never actually paying into the pot.

I absolutely think that they should be supported to get a safe exit back to the UK, that's a non-negotiable. But I do understand why people are pissed off.

My friends child is a young teacher, just had enough of being hit in in the uk schools they worked in

thought they'd have a bit of nice weather and a position where teaching is respected before they came home again

a lot of those posters don’t make any distinction whatsoever between this teacher and the rich and famous….

It’s ’weapons of mass destruction’ all over again. Israel and the US decided on ‘regime’ change and we’re just supposed to go along with this illegal war? This would not benefit the UK in any way, and we have no business joining in. White the US and Israel ignoring international law, ignoring and scorning the UN, and making enemies left right and centre on the way - where will this end?

This is the most inept time in politics. Let labour, tories and reform mugs go and fight. Leave the rest of us out of it. Democracy wasn't meant to be controlled by these sickos.

Cyprus : you’ll find that war comes to you. Then our lack of response. The sad fact is we have very little left to go to war with.

I think this will not happen. UK is sending assets to defend Cyprus. Even Spain has offered help to defend Cyprus! And they are in Trump's naughty red list because they expressed their wish not to have their bases used for US offensive attacks. There may be some hits that get through, but I think Cyprus will be well defended.

The Brits have over 100,000 registered with the FO in the gulf states. They don’t, as yet, all need or want to come back here. Neither do all Americans. We don’t really know what the gulf states will do yet. So we don’t have huge evacuation plans.
