The station will always be busy on a Saturday honestly if it kicks off to the point of fuel restrictions im pretty fucked my son goes to school miles away and relies on transport to get him there how home school would work with him ive no idea

LadyWiddiothethird · 28/02/2026 15:52

I will fill up with fuel, because tank is almost empty.

Imlyingandthatsthetruth · 28/02/2026 15:52

Yes! Let's all fill up with fuel, that won't cause any shortages at the filling stations, will it? FFS...

Moveoverdarlin · 28/02/2026 15:52

The petrol station was busy because tens of millions of people in the UK got paid yesterday. Coupled with the fact the sun is shining for the first time in what feels like 893 years and people will be getting out and about to is weekend.

Olympeagal · 28/02/2026 15:55

Ok maybe i am panicking for no reason.
But Iran have just bombed a tourist hotel in Dubai and its these actions that i think will drsg the UK into this conflict. Kier Starmer has annoumced he will help allies in the Midfle East.
I want to pretend its not happening...but it is and seems to be escalating hourly.

Filling up with fuel makes sort of sense (but will be carnage if everyone does it of course!) as fuel prices are expected to rise if things escalate and supplies are disrupted. Not sure there is a lot of point to anything else

Theunamedcat · 28/02/2026 15:57

Don't we have our own oil fields? And fo we actually rely in them as a source?

Cattatonic · 28/02/2026 15:59

And so it begins….

martinagiraffe · 28/02/2026 16:00

I'm playing it cool, definitely not going to go crazy like i did during COVID.

I've bought just the 500 rolls of andrex this time.

They didn't bomb the hotel, it was debri from intercepted missile goimg above.
If it was ctually hit, it wouldn't be there now really.

Just do your usual shopping. We aren't going to be plunged into civil war over bog rolls and bags of pasta.

dapsnotplimsolls · 28/02/2026 16:02

I nearly bought some petrol today and decided to leave it until tomorrow. Gawd knows how much more it will be.

There's really not much you can do apart from send your thoughts and prayers to Richard Tice and any influencer wankers who have been paid to promote Dubai as heaven on earth.

InterestedDad37 · 28/02/2026 16:04

For reasons too dull to explain, I have about 8 tins of tomato soup in the cupboard, so I'll be OK for a bit 🍅

Yerroblemom1923 · 28/02/2026 16:06

So, just like we did so well at during Covid, we need to stockpile loo rolls, pasta, baking ingredients (because we have to make our own bread and banana loaves) and as much petrol as we can fit in the tank and maybe some spare cans too in the boot. And bottled water, almost forgot that one, and tins with long shelf-life food in them.
Right, I'm off to the supermarket - wish me luck!

It's times like this I'm glad I mostly ignore the news. Off to read it now I guess. Depressing as ever

We do, but most of it is gone and it’s been many years since North Sea production satisfied most of the uk’s oil needs.

Want to swap a couple of your tins for some of the dried lentils and rice I’ve been hoarding since lockdown?
😂

LaurieFairyCake · 28/02/2026 16:13

they’re literally in every recipe now !

AgnesDurati · 28/02/2026 16:16

Iwasneverafan · 28/02/2026 16:16

BMW6 · 28/02/2026 16:17

I was going to start stripping off wallpaper in a bedroom this weekend but may wait a few days in case I needn't bother.........😏

UYN · 28/02/2026 16:17

In the UK we are very privileged to be in an extremely safe place.

Perhaps stop selfishly thinking about your own stupid inconsequential needs and spare a thought to think about the Iranian civilians, and other across the region who are having their world turned upside down.
