Yes it was a manifesto pledge but not Govt official policy and it was the Tories who first gave younger people higher NMW increases.

Youth unemployment hit almost 16% in 2024, up from 13% in 2023.... Labour were in for 6 months of that year and didn't implement a single NMW increase.

Why weren't you concerned in 2023 and 2024?

In fact I heard on the 1 o’clock news that youth unemployment is the highest since 2015, so 2023/24 not the worst.

Err where did i say it was? did you read the post before replying?

Its now marginally higher than in 23/24....

Who was in power in 2015, were you so angry at that Govt? or was it all exogenous events...

Whatever, Alexandra. Carry on your ongoing little diatribe against the Tories/Brexit, keep looking back and blaming other governments for everything if it makes you feel better.

It’s Labour in power now.

I think most people have moved on. Labour posting pics of young people surrounding Reeves and Starmer taking selfies as they did today is not where’s it at that’s for sure.

But ok for you to hark back to 2015 ..& where have i blamed Tories/Brexit for anything ?

A pp poster blamed world events pre 2024...

Hilarious!

Lol, guess you don’t live in Kent then.
Cos the shit show council sure isn’t being ‘owned’ by the Reform voters here - it’s still all Labour’s fault. Apparently.

Labour govt is still blaming Tory Govt.

There's a lot you can't change in local government.
The spending is off the wall for all of them and the maddest of them buy shopping centres.

Indeed. It's actually embarrassing reading through the obsession with Farage and Reform. These people are so triggered because their little bubble, which doesn't accord with the real world, is being threatened. I had 3 personal rants aimed at me last night, yes really reflective of much superior intellect.

I don't know what all these psycho babble nonsense phrases like 'triggered' in relation to this thread title as of course people are going to concerned about a Reform government probably the half who voted against Farage's other project - Brexit. People who are very much in the real world, the ones that know about how the economy works, know what a disaster this would be!

Well the 'psycho babble' phrases work overtime when the left are obsessing over Reform. I thought you'd be familiar with that line of thinking.

So you think it was only the left that didn't want to leave the EU? That predicted the years and years of Economic decline that followed? That the Woke lefties are the only ones concerned about Brexit round 2 under Farage? I am still confused as to why you would equate concerns over a Farage government, Brexit round 2 levels of economic disruption and chaos with woke 'lefties'- it is just silly frankly.

Like what? What phrases do you associate with the woke like literally the ones you just used?

Critical thinking, that phrase again. Same old same old.

Critically questioning things is of the utmost importance. Mock it at your peril! You won't be laughing when the NHS has been privatised and the most vulnerable have been shafted for the benefit of the extremely wealthy. Farage doesn't give two hoots about the average working person in this country. The fact that there hasn't been real scrutiny of Farage in the Epstein files and his links to Bannon and in turn the 1%, is a damning indictment of the state of the media in this country.

I know exactly what critical thinking means. I was referring to its over usage by the same suspects and always in a manner aiming to belittle others.

Anyone else reading / hearing about Superinjunctions? I won't say any more. Just wondering

DeepBlueDeer · 18/02/2026 19:17

I've seen a few comments along the lines of folks looking forward to watching the fallout of a Reform government hit its voters.

I get the impulse, but I don't share that.

Even if you happen to think you're financially cushioned from the worst of it, I am dismayed at the prospect of the loss of so many human rights protections (and I appreciate this isn't unique to Reform, the Tories are on board with leaving the ECHR too).

If someone throws a handful of shit into the air, I can't say the thought of some of it landing on them would bring me all that much joy if I'm also getting a face full.

What a charming last paragraph. The whole idea of human rights has been manipulated by lawyers to get their rapist defendants from being deported, amongst other things. It needs a good shake up.
