Jean Hachet posted this today. Men going door to door in Sheffield looking for people who aren't boycotting Israel. The man grabbed one of the women by throat and headbutted her when challenged. Feels like something out of the 1930s

Jean Hatchet (@JeanHatchet) on X

There was a Jew hunt door to door in Woodseats Sheffield. We ended it within 15 mins because they didn’t like “Jew Hunt” shouting at them. They were collecting addresses of the non-supportive. The man in blue took our sign and then had Lightning Le...

That's two years old?

pancakestastelikecrepe · 16/02/2026 20:18

@rosa17May I ask (in good faith and neutrally), if a campaigner from a pro Israeli organisation knocked on your door, asked you to add your name to a list denouncing Palestine as state, and if you refused, captured your details - would it bother you?

FreeWheezin · 16/02/2026 20:28

Many of these "muh Palestine" lots are beta lefty boomer males who vote lib dem and live in nice areas with no immigrants.

Self loathing cucks.

The Jeremy Corbyn archetype 😆

Omg you sound so breedable 😍 Meet you at the Furry gathering tonight, I'll be the pup at the back with the wonky tail

No - why would it bother me. I have no problem arguing my political position and I'm sure I'm on numerous lists!
I would however, be extremely perturbed if Jean Hatchet knocked on my door because I've seen the racist bigoted stunts she pulls and she's known as an aggressor. I also think that people who conflate the Israeli state with Jews, as she does, tend towards antisemitism despite their protestations.
I should probably say, although I'm not keen on giving personal information, that my father and grandmother were survivors from the Holocaust (the only members of a large extended family to survive) and I was brought up to say Never Again means for anyone. There are plenty of Jewish people like me who support Palestine but for some reason we don't get covered in the national press. I wonder why that is!

SpaceRaccoon · 16/02/2026 22:08

@rosa17 would you describe yourself as supporting Israel's right to exist?

Because that's the position of 90% of Jewish people, and realistically even that stance would go down like a cup of cold sick in the pro-Palestinian demonstrations - look what happened to Peter Tatchell when his placard included "Stop Hamas executions" - the PSC stewards promptly had him arrested.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/02/2026 22:18

So, a bunch of blokes come knocking on my door and want to know (they'll already have my name as well as my address, going by the shite I get from Reform addressed to me when there is no way on earth I've ever given them the time of day, much less my name) if I support their cause - if I say no, thank you, no or just try to retreat behind the door - what is the obvious conclusion they will reach?

It's going to be that I'm Jewish (even if I'm not, although I am ethnically, due to the bravery of my great grandparents on one side escaping Europe 124 years ago).

So there is now a group of men who know my name, address and ethnicity/faith group origin. Ones that really, really, REALLY, don't like what other people of similar origin in a completely different country are doing. So much so that they're banging on doors wanting to find out if I agree with them or whether I'm overwhelmingly likely to be of that same group.

Fuck that.

Oh come on, Peter Tatchell is as representative of the diversity of Jewish opinion as he is of gay men’s views on any given topic.

That was kind of my point, but @SpaceRaccoon clarified what they meant so it’s moot anyway.

Ring doorbell! Its because of nutters like this that I never open my door (or even acknowledge a knock) unless expecting visitors or I see a courier holding a package.I have a notice on my door to that effect.

I have many reasons not to acknowledge knocks on the door. Whatever that makes me on the mumsnet arena

@TheBreezyCathaving been firmly left wing, it is these type of men (and women) that have made me sway back to the centre. The Pro Palestine movement is made up of misguided and misinformed aggressive protestors. Who include a small number of grannies to divert from the fact about how aggressive they all are. I also will never forgive this despicable movement for denying the horrendous sexual violence that took place on 7th October. If you’re against what happened in Gaza, then, from a human rights perspective, I would expect you to also be against Hamas and the atrocities they committed. The fact that the majority see Hamas as a bunch of sweet cuddly men is a no from me! Also, why do the never condemn any of the other Middle Eastern countries that refuse to help those in Gaza? The whole movement is a joke.

such people come from the same place. Mohammad

This is all very well, but it's straying very far from the original OP. It's not a thread about the rights and wrongs of the situation in Israel and Gaza, of which there are very, very many other threads ongoing, over on the CITME board. We have enough of those already, no need to rehash the arguments here.

This is a thread about intimidation of people in the UK, by activists who are seeking to pressure the public to ascribe to a certain political viewpoint.

For my part, I am very concerned about the rise in anti-semitism in the UK - as evidenced by polls - and the fact that many Jewish people in the UK are feeling unwanted here and under threat. And ARE under actual threat.

We should be taking this seriously and not condoning anything that encourages more of it.

It is perfectly ok to take a stance that you want to boycott Israeli goods, and that you want to encourage others to follow suit. I personally think it will make no difference whatsoever to Israel's actions, but I get others may disagree, and/or just feel as a matter of principle that they do not wish to spend money that may end up in Israel. That is their right. It's perfectly ok to publicise that in the usual channels, and engage in polite and respectful debate.

It is NOT ok to door-step people aggressively, knocking on their doors uninvited, pressuring them to agree with a particular stance, and then taking note of their personal details if they don't. This would be unacceptable under any circumstances, but in the current climate of increased harassment, attacks and racial hatred towards Jewish people, it really cannot be stood for and must not be tolerated.

Let's not forget this is all happening in a climate where a celebrity known to be Jewish has been accosted and harassed just going about his business on the Tube, purely for being Jewish. That the pillock doing that felt emboldened and justified to target him because of the religious/ethnic group he belongs to is frightening. And it's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the anti-semitic under-current that seems to be strengthening daily in the UK.

This with bells on.
