I can't wait! Jacob Eldori's wig looks a bit dodgy in the first part but he scrubs up well when Heathcliff becomes rich. Not sure about the Yorkshire accent.

Margot Robbie looks a bit too old and glowy to be Cathy but I'm there for the frocks, the interiors and the scenary!

Anyone else going?

The reviews I’ve seen are dreadful…

Regresstigress · 11/02/2026 22:42

No, it looks terrible. I’ll re-read the book.

Arlanymor · 11/02/2026 22:42

Nope. And I'm no purist, but the trailers look like utter tripe.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 11/02/2026 22:44

On the basis that I hate the book, no 😉

TiredofLDN · 11/02/2026 22:46

Yes- and it’s one of my all time favorite books.

I think it’s okay for a source text to be a source of inspiration, rather than a design to be traced over. From the casting onwards it’s been very very clear that this isn’t intended to be historically accurate, or faithful to the source- and that’s fine! It’s art, not a sworn testimony! EF can take as many liberties as she likes!

OldReliability · 11/02/2026 22:48

Well, the trailer looks like a Meatloaf video, so no. Can’t say I’m holding my breath.

Oh I totally agree with that - as I say, not a purist.

But it does look like hollow, lukewarm pap from the trailers... and they are supposed to be the best bits!!

BlueJuniper94 · 11/02/2026 22:50

I am not.

ScarlettSarah · 11/02/2026 22:50

I've just re-read the book, which I love.

I'm not watching a trashy 'adaptation' like this - doesn't it open with a public hanging scene where the criminal ejaculates? Utterly disgusting and I cannot see how that fits into the storyline.

PurrfectFloof · 11/02/2026 22:51

As a pedantic literature nerd, I’m going to say that what I’ve seen so far suggests it misses the point as much as when Cliff Richard was cast as Heathcliff 🤣

There are lots of historical stories that can be ‘Bridgertoned’ - Wuthering Heights ain’t one #gavel

Parrotstwice · 11/02/2026 22:54

YES!! it looks so fun!!
And before anyone starts, yes I've read the book. Yes i love reading. I love classic literature. I've seen all the adaptations of Wuthering Heights. I love period drama in general.
But I still think this film looks like great fun. Im absolutely loving the costumes I've seen pictures of so far.
It looks demented and camp.
Im excited to see this new take.
I think films can sometimes just be aesthetic and that's enough. Not everything has to be some po faced retelling. Not everything has to be that deep OR have broad appeal. Some things can just be demented and only a very certain demographic will love them.
That's ok and I feel I may be in this particular demographic from what I've seen so far

Humdrumqueen · 11/02/2026 22:55

No.

TheMateofOphelia · 11/02/2026 22:58

Yes, but only to letch over Jacob elordi.

nomas · 11/02/2026 22:58

Looks like a cross between Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula and The Shining.

Having recently been to the Bronté museum, I don’t think this will be my go to, I will read the book first.

Morepositivemum · 11/02/2026 23:01

Trying to figure out whether to go on my own as I don’t know anyone who isn’t saying they’re expecting it to be disappointing and I’m so excited to just immerse myself in it!!

Morepositivemum · 11/02/2026 23:03

Ps have read the book over and over again - it’s one of my favourite books but I think I’m good at separating book from film!!

Blinkingbother · 11/02/2026 23:03

God, the book is sooo depressing - I just can’t imagine myself wanting to sit through the film…. So far the trailers are confirming this, if those are the best bits that’s not a good sign….

knittywit · 11/02/2026 23:04

I’m steering well clear and it’s my favourite book!

Casting pretty Australians is a bigger crime than casting a French woman!

Im going with someone i barely know because they were the only person who seemed excited by it!

It might be a fun hatewatch? I certainly enjoyed myself with friends howling with laughter and disbelief at Dakota Johnson’s Persuasion via Fleabag and Bridget Jones, smirking at the camera, swigging wine from the bottle and romping with a ketchup moustache.

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/02/2026 23:06

We do not need another film adaptation of WH, imo. I love the book but won’t be watching this, thanks.

GreenEyesIsBack · 11/02/2026 23:09

I watched the older one today with Ralf Fiennes and Juliet Binoche.
Her accent was v dodgy.
There were sentences where she seemed to go from Yorkshire to Dublin via Paris in just a few words.

NotThoseKindOfEggs · 11/02/2026 23:09

I could not stomach the book so doubt I would enjoy the movie, so no.

Ralph Fiennes is my favourite actor and I thought he was bloody atrocious in it and his accent too. So disappointing all-round that adaptation.

MsSmartShoes · 11/02/2026 23:11

I’ve read it to preserve it - but the reviews suggest that it’s a superficial veneer.
