I can't wait! Jacob Eldori's wig looks a bit dodgy in the first part but he scrubs up well when Heathcliff becomes rich. Not sure about the Yorkshire accent.

Margot Robbie looks a bit too old and glowy to be Cathy but I'm there for the frocks, the interiors and the scenary!

Anyone else going?

Well, the trailer looks like a Meatloaf video, so no. Can’t say I’m holding my breath.

Nailed it.

It's a no from me also.

I’d have said Guns N’ Roses, puts me in mind of ‘November Rain’. I’ll not be watching, looks bloody awful. Won’t be reading the book either, too depressing.

ipanemagirl · 12/02/2026 00:25

I am a bit curious to see it but I did think Saltburn was a bit 🤢. Ferrell is a female director doing well but I think she thinks she’s terribly groundbreaking when she just seems to have a very bracing, high coloured, posh, gross out thing going on.

But it’s at least a female perspective. But MR as Cathy? And Elordi as heathcliffe? No but maybe not worse than Ralph Fiennes. Robbie is wrong in most things except Barbie and Tarantino I think . She’s just too pretty for Cathy. Cathy should be dark and earthy I think.

but it’s her film so her choice.

I have that perfume!

Contrarymary30 · 12/02/2026 00:30

I won't watch it , I'm always disappointed with movies of books I've read . I loved the book .

GrooveArmada · 12/02/2026 00:40

Sorry, no. Elordi is miscast and I don't want him to ruin it for me. Such a shame.

lovelyweatherforasleighride · 12/02/2026 04:45

Elordi's terrible wig is offputting. But casting Margot Robbie, 35, with her giant lady face, as the teenage Cathy is beyond ridiculous.

ShawnaMacallister · 12/02/2026 05:00

I don't want to see it as although I'm not a purist I think it's too much a departure from the novel to be interesting as an adaptation of the story, and I don't really care about it as a fanfic version. I don't find Jacob Elordi attractive and the idea of a 35 year old Cathy is too stupid.

Yesssss! Saltburn was hilarious.

Me too, I loved Saltburn so looking forward to this but I'll be waiting till it comes on the telly.

Exactly why I am definitely going to see it!

Toeragg · 12/02/2026 06:32

I'm not watching a trashy 'adaptation' like this - doesn't it open with a public hanging scene where the criminal ejaculates?

Urgh!

Going to ask MNHQ to edit my title to say No Spoilers Allowed. Don't want to know if Cathy dies or not.

😂 Why didn't JE say no to the wig?!

Laurence Olivier was magnificent as Heathcliff.

Disclaimer: gave up on the book.

Hearing Margot Robbie talk about the wank rock that she used to pleasure herself on top of the cliff for one of the scenes, as Cathy of course, not in real life, put me right off. So no.

I don’t think it’s a spoiler if the novel has been in the public domain, and incredibly famous, for 179 years!

dudsville · 12/02/2026 07:29

I'm not going to see it because this kind of genre of film doesn't interest me. It looks like a steamy "romance" novel (why do we call them that?). They could have made their film but called it something else, instead they're dressing up a romance novel to make it look like an adaptation of a great piece of classic literature.

PoohneedsaPimms · 12/02/2026 07:33

No, the trailer and reviews have put me off. I would rather see an adaptation that’s close to the novel.

Sartre · 12/02/2026 07:33

The reviews are terrible. I don’t think the casting is brilliant. I’m always open to interpretation with fiction (not historical reenactments) but I don’t think Margot Robbie makes a good Kathy, she’s about 15 years too old and very fair.

I hear they’ve sexualised it which is pretty standard for Hollywood. There are zero sex scenes in the book, it’s more about the tension and toxic chemistry between the two. I’m not a huge Brontë fan but this book is particularly strong so it’s a shame they didn’t do a better job.

mrsCtheRed · 12/02/2026 07:37

I won't be.

I've never 'got' WH. He's a lunatic, she's a snob, and so I never cared about either of them.

This adaption looks batshit too, like Tim Burton having a fever dream on acid 😵‍💫

Comtesse · 12/02/2026 07:44

Sweetiedarling7 · 11/02/2026 23:40

The original book was more than enough for me. I think it is a terrible story full of abuse and horror.
It blows my mind that anyone finds Heathcliff sexy.

Completely agree. The very idea that this is supposed to be “romantic” - I can’t get my head round it.

greencheetah · 12/02/2026 07:46

Dreadful book.

The film only tells the first half of the story, so is there going to be a part two?

I love Margot Robbie but she’s way too old to play Catherine.

JuliettaCaeser · 12/02/2026 07:47

Saw last night. Hmm. Not blown away. Quite surface level.

HurdyGurdy19 · 12/02/2026 07:52

From the brief clips I saw on TV the other day, absolutely not. They seem to be making it into a soft porn version. Emily Bronte would be spinning in her grave

Comtesse · 12/02/2026 07:44

It’s always been misjudged as a romance, I think because especially back when it was written nobody knew what on earth to do with it.

The book always had more in common with Gothic novels than romance.

Changingplace · 12/02/2026 08:02

It looks utterly ridiculous but I’m going to watch it anyway!

I think the casting looks bonkers, the guy they’ve cast as Linton looks like he’d have actually made a great Heathcliffe, and Margot Robbie is obviously too old to be Cathy and the costumes look insane, whatever I’m going to get a wine & a large popcorn and go with the flow 🤣

minipoodlemum · 12/02/2026 08:02

Meatloaf video 😂 No, I won’t be seeing it. I love the book and would love to see a good film version but haven’t seen one yet. Margot Robbie is not Cathy - Cathy is a teenager, she has long, dark, unruly hair and is a northerner. It’s the second Catherine who has fairer features. Margot is beautiful but she’s not Cathy.
