To think DH changed my order?

Pissedo · 01/02/2026 23:27

So we have ordered takeaway for dinner. My DH decides on a new place which is fine. I am neurodivergent and also hate chilli or JalapeƱos of if I have food from a new place I always order 1 item (usually chips) that I know I will 100% be able to eat.

So DH sends me the link,I put in my name and place my order. I order a burger meal so a burger, chips and a drink.
I was unsure if I would like the burger as it had "house" sauce which in my experience usually means chilli.

It is important to know that the burger I ordered had an offer of 2 burgers for the price of 1 when ordered separately. There was also some loaded fries on the same offer.

The food turns up and there are 4 burgers, 2 loaded fries and some chicken. I check the receipt and my name is not on it and neither is my order. I asked if he changed the order and he is adamant he didn't.

So as predicted the burger was a no go, so U hand it over to DH. so he now has 4 of the same burger to eat. He then gives me 1 box of loaded fries and says they are bbq. They are a sensory nightmare but I pick through trying to eat something. I am beyond annoyed but DH insisted he did not Change the order.

So AIBU to think he is a liar? Would it also be unreasonable to pour the leftover loaded fries over his head?

If you can't cope with a new restaurant you should have just cooked dinner yourself rather than having a tantrum because you didn't get something you wanted.

Whilst you may be neurodiverse this doesn't justify you acting worse than a five year old who doesn't get the burger he wanted when he knew tonight was pizza night.

You are an adult not a child.

Aren't you a delight. Do you never try new food? It was 1 sauce that I was unsure of so I took a gamble.

My DH did intact change my order as he had not read my order correctly and wanted me to benefit from the offer.

I hardly acted like a 5 year old, I asked my husband twice if he had changed my order once before making this thread and once after I asked to check the confirmation. This was when he admitted he had changed it. Again I was joking about tipping food over his head.

So infact the OP was correct....and DH had changed her order.

I would be very pissed off with him.

He made a mistake, he didn't read my order correctly. He wanted me to benefit from the burger offer.

Could he have eaten yours on the way home and ordered two for himself?

He must be a sneaky fucker for you to suspect this of him. And he lied about it too. Not great.

Don't let him order for you again, do it yourself.

Fair enough but he lied to your face saying he hadn’t. Not great that is it. Hope he’s apologised and you found some food

Lessons learnt for next time, Op.

Communicate better with DH before hitting the order button.
Learn how to order burgers expressively WITHOUT certain sauces.
Be prepared to make a cheese toastie when orders arrive that are not to your taste.

If he does this regularly then I expect you weren’t joking about tipping the food over his head. Why would you be? I’d bin it all if he changed it so I couldn’t eat any.

When people order food from a restaurant, it's not unreasonable for them to expect them to deliver the food items that were ordered. Either the restaurant messed up or OP's DH deliberately amended her order. In neither scenario is OP at fault. Most people would be annoyed to be left with nothing that they can eat.

When a person has severe sensory issues with food it's not throwing a tantrum if they are annoyed at purposely being given things they can't eat. My DS has severe sensory issues with food and it's a bloody nightmare when there's something on his plate that he doesn't see as a safe food. If op's DH did change the order, knowing about her issues then he's a completely nasty cunt

Yes. To both questions.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll2 · 02/02/2026 04:59

You can ask without sauce, without chilli Etc.
You know that right?
If i couldnt take it away when ordering i would ring the restaurant and ask them to not include it. Or ask someone else to ring if i couldnt

Dollymylove · 02/02/2026 06:18

Why would you tip fried over yoir DPs head head? Are you 12 ?
Next time order it yourself

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 02/02/2026 06:19

But there WERE burgers (4 of them in fact!) so why didn’t you eat one of them?? 🤯

AnotherDayanotherNameChangeX · 02/02/2026 06:23

Next time you place an order, can’t you just use one account and one phone, he adds his things first, then you add yours? No group orders and you’re the last one to check the order over before paying? That’s what we do

Blushingm · 02/02/2026 07:14

You sound like a complete nightmare and I feel sorry for your DH.

Changingplace · 02/02/2026 07:35

Pissedo · 02/02/2026 02:58

He made a mistake, he didn't read my order correctly. He wanted me to benefit from the burger offer.

And the burger you got was exactly what you ordered, so the issue was you got loaded fries with the deal not plain fries, I get that’s annoying but the burger is the same you’d have got anyway.

You can always add a note to say ā€˜no sauce’ or whatever, it’s an option before you place the order, do that next time if you don’t want something.

EvangelineTheNightStar · 02/02/2026 07:37

I’m still not getting the process, so he starts the order on his phone, you don’t sit next to him and say what you want to tell him to put in, he So DH sends me the link,I put in my name and place my order then you send the link back to him?
we don’t get this service here so confused!

DaisyChain505 · 02/02/2026 07:38

If food is that big of an issue for you, you should be more assertive about checking it before the order is placed. Don’t leave a decision which is important to you up to others.

whattheysay · 02/02/2026 07:39

It sounds like it got too confusing and it went wrong. This is why I do the orders if I want something specific. I do the order and use my dh’s bank card to pay.
Make your account it is not difficult and use his card to pay he kids needs to authorise the transaction with the bank app. The you’ll get what you want

honeylulu · 02/02/2026 07:43

Was it the same burger as the one in the meal deal (so you wouldn't have eaten it anyway)? So the only real issue is that you ended up with loaded fries instead of plain ones? Did you eat them or not?

It was out of order to change your meal though you sound exasperating too. Ordering a meal to try that you know will probably end up wasted. Why bother? At least get your own ubereats account so you can waste your own time and money.

GrassMarketeer · 02/02/2026 07:45

Unless this happens repeatedly, it's absolutely not something to get worked up over.

I can't quite understand why you both didn't agree to order 2 burger meals in total (and so benefit from one being free?). Then you'd have one burger meal to eat each. Or are they very small and you normally order 2 each? Either way, he perhaps tried to combine the order - having the order in 2 parts may not have qualified for the free offer.

Usually burger meals come with standard fries, not the loaded ones. So either he paid for an upgrade, or you have received 4 x plain fries and 4 x loaded fries and it's a restaurant mistake.

BlackCat14 · 02/02/2026 07:52

I’m confused. You got the burger you wanted, sauce and all. Is your problem just that you got an extra burger? At first I thought you were implying that your husband changed your actual food request. But he didn’t? You still got the burger you asked for? Just with an extra one thrown in? I don’t get how this is a problem.

LaMarschallin · 02/02/2026 07:53

All the house sauce near me tend to be chilli based just hot chilli with tomato. I wouldn't mind mayo and garlic.

LTB and move to an area that's not quite so single-minded about burger sauce.
It won't be hard to find one.

honeylulu · 02/02/2026 07:56

I think the issue is that she didn't want/like the loaded fries and wanted plain ones. That was important as she thought (correctly as it turns out) that she wouldn't like the burger so plain fries would have meant there was something she could eat.

OP, I don't think takeaways are a good idea for you.
