NHS calls in exorcist

scorpiogirly · 29/01/2026 21:12

That's correct.

An exorcist has been called in by the NHS to a hospice because of many paranormal incidents and sightings of the ghost of a girl in a red dress, witnessed by staff and also patients.

You'd think there has to be something in this right? And if not, what on earth could be going on?

Link?

NuffSaidSam · 29/01/2026 21:13

They should be checking the carbon monoxide levels.

XenoBitch · 29/01/2026 21:13

We need a link

FreshInks · 29/01/2026 21:14

Source?

Haven’t read it, just googled it

FreshInks · 29/01/2026 21:16

Sadly, those articles are behind a paywall.

They should be checking the carbon monoxide levels.

Well that is one theory I suppose.

Surely in a hospice though, this would be checked and kept on top of? Also, it doesn't explain people seeing the same thing...

So it’s an NHS chaplain who has called in “deliverance ministers” who are employed by the Church of England.

lcakethereforeIam · 29/01/2026 21:20

This link should show the Telegraph article behind the paywall

What kind of wimpy staff work there for goodness sake!
Pretty much every hospital I've worked at has had ghost sightings. Most of them are really old and people do love a spooky story. The ward I worked the longest often had patients and staff seeing a man in naval dress walking around.
(Although personally I think it's a pile of horse crap and never saw anything but imo they should leave the imaginary ghosts alone!).

Thisisnotmyid · 29/01/2026 21:38

God they would have a brilliant day in GRI in Glasgow 😂 that place definitely has ghosts!

Tell me more!

EveryKneeShallBow · 29/01/2026 21:48

What a bloody waste of money! You’d hope the nhs had a more scientific approach.

Surely this makes it more plausible though?

I don't think you have to pay, the church "deliverance team" probably enjoy the chance to use their skills and training but I don't think there's a fee.

Yep, I used to work in a children's hospital, and we had our share of ghost sightings too.

JaceLancs · 29/01/2026 21:58

I used to work for the NHS in an old workhouse, which later became a hospital and is now a rehab centre - most definitely haunted

How much did it cost? (If its even true). And who paid if any cost was charged?

Bloatstoat · 29/01/2026 22:03

The old Bristol General Hospital is another one to add to the list of NHS sites with ghost sightings. It was sold off for luxury flats years back, you couldn't pay me to live there! I often wonder if the new residents have seen anything.

mindutopia · 29/01/2026 22:03

Well, exorcists only work on the living. But there are people in the church who chase out bad spirits, so to speak. It’s worth a shot and probably a cost savings (it’s free!) for the NHS over dealing with all the complaints.

Theonlywayicanloveyou · 29/01/2026 22:03

People always say this about big creepy buildings.

But a huge portion of the British housing stock is Victorian and almost every home that’s over the age of, say, 75 years will have had at least one death occur within its walls.

why aren’t people constantly reporting that their own houses are haunted?

because this is confirmation bias… one characteristic of a load of old absolute BS

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 29/01/2026 22:05

Paywall.
