Yes, we don’t know the full story, but so many things being said about the dance story being untrue-they had already had their dance, she’d also danced with her father, Vb was reportedly called onto the stage by her friend, Marc A and was shy to do so. She comes across as a very awkward, sad person, David seems to dislike her and speak down to her. I can imagine she must be devastated and so humiliated by this. No matter the issues, Brooklyn shouldn’t have issued the problems publicly.
I know a lot about issues with Mil’s but my instinct tells me that this could be her and perhaps she has been difficult from the start. She doesn’t have a reputation for being a nice person at all, even before all this and it’s been said there may have been similar situations in the past with an ex of hers.
In comparison, I’ve never seen anyone say a bad word about Vb, the opposite in fact, she seems to have a great relationship with all her other children and the partners, plus a good relationship with Db’s family
She just must feel so devastated and humiliated, your first born that you held in your arms as a baby.

All so sad

Not an ounce of sympathy for her, or her disgusting money grabbing hypocrite husband.

RudolphTheReindeer · 20/01/2026 13:00

Imagine being a teenager and everyone knowing your name comes from the place your parents shagged and conceived you.

Mangelwurzelfortea · 20/01/2026 13:00

I think there's a bit of a divide on these threads from people who are the children of narcissists (albeit not famous ones) and who are Team Brooklyn, and people who are not. I think it's really hard for people to understand that some parents - and money has nothing to do with it - just don't prioritise their kids. They put themselves first. It sounds to me (as someone from a family where narcissism is rampant) like Brooklyn has never had a 'safe person' in his life and that's why he's latched on so strongly to Nicola and will defend her to the hilt.

I do wonder if he really does know what he's done, though. I had an ex who was at school with Prince Harry and said he was 'nice but really thick' and I've heard/read similar about Brooklyn. It may well be that he's gone down this path without really being fully aware of the consequences.

She was never going to do that simply because it’s Beckham’s money that’s paid for her career. Her fashion company is millions in the red, she’s nothing without his name and money.
Why on earth else would she still be desperately clinging on to him?

She'd get a substantial chunk in any divorce settlement though. Married since 1999, made multiple trans national moves for his playing career. They may not even have a pre nup since there wasn't such a disparity between their personal fortunes when they got married.

So I think it has to be about more than the money.

His message has clearly been written by his bride. I don't think a man would care so much about a wedding dress and a dance. What he said about Victoria being inappropriate is just so cruel.

It's all so tacky, he must know that he's attacking his parents business and livelihood by slagging them off so publicly.

I don't know what he hopes to gain from this. He was a nepo baby and now he's a nepo husband. Does he have anything else going on at all?

Definitely by her and coming from her

She’s not really posh or beautiful but wants both. Surgery has got her close. DB likes genuine willowy aristos it would appear is this at root of her elocution lessons etc? If you adore someone & they don’t love you back it can destroy you, is this at the heart?

She’s very attractive & always was and ironically has much going for her. Sad.

Edited

She's long been clear that she isn't posh and found the Posh Spice thing a bit embarrassing (Emma Bunton isn't very happy about Baby Spice either but she was young at the time and just didn't get the connotations). I can't blame her for wanting to be beautiful, she's in that world where women are judged to death for their appearance, more than most of us. I remember even during the Spice Girls era, papers publishing photos of her with a totally normal fold of skin as she bent or leaned over and circling it and shitting on about how fat she was, and as we all know, she was a twig.

Overtheatlantic · 20/01/2026 13:02

OP has made up her mind so what difference does it make what the rest of us think? For my part I believe Brooklyn. And VB is a very sad woman who has been famous for so long, on relatively little talent, that she can’t see straight.

Stayinitstoocold · 20/01/2026 13:02

Definitely by her and coming from her

It'll have been written by a PR person and run past a lawyer. Brooklyn knows the Beckhams are lawyered up to the hilt.

Stayinitstoocold · 20/01/2026 12:59

Why is that disrespectful

Have a little think. I'm sure it'll dawn on you eventually.

Junction6 · 20/01/2026 13:05

Before this I thought Brooklyn was a bit of a tool. Now I have nothing but sympathy for him. I don’t think you’d issue that sort of statement unless it was true and you felt you had to. So whilst I accept it’s a sad situation, I don’t have any sympathy for VB. Sounds like he’s better off out of it.

Gahr · 20/01/2026 13:05

I don't feel sorry for her in the least. The woman's a harpy and she's getting her comeuppance. Save your sympathy for those who deserve it. I am sorry for Brooklyn and the others having parents like those. Did you see how Harper was dressed for the Ramsay wedding!? Those people have no moral compass.

Gahr · 20/01/2026 13:06

Stayinitstoocold · 20/01/2026 11:47

But there are reports of it not being the first dance, that they’d already had a dance and she’d danced with her dad? The way he’s described it is his opinion (or more likely hers) she could have been cuddling her son on his wedding day, all perfectly normal things. It’s truly horrible for a son to say that to the public about his own mother.
It’s unforgivable

It's her behaviour which is unforgiveable, not him calling her out on it.

Stayinitstoocold · 20/01/2026 13:06

BillieWiper · 20/01/2026 12:38

Isn't the whole 'I've never heard anyone say a bad word about VB' just a demonstration of how controlling she is of her image and her narrative.

You don't know how lawyered up and PR'd up their every move is. She won't allow there to be a bad word said about her. Never a bad photograph, never anything that makes her look anything less than saintly. And her husband. It's a total machine.

That's what Brookiekins was saying he wanted to escape from.

It's also interesting the way they tried so hard to get rid of the Rebecca Loos story. They crushed her career as much as possible but couldn't go crying to the lawyers office because everything that happened with her was obviously true.

No? When people have met her and been asked, they could say if she was awful, they can’t stop everything

Up until the recent documentaries, I hadn’t seen much about Harper at all, especially not when she was younger, the occasional family picture maybe, which is not shocking

Just because you haven't personally seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist!

They've been showing Harper (like all the rest of the kids, possibly more) since she was born! Bringing her to film premiers and events, featuring her in the documentaries etc. The fact you even know what she looks like is proof in itself they put their kids in the limelight - if you ever see any celeb adjacent gossip in newspapers you will see there are some kids' faces who are always blanked out- because their parents have requested it. The beckhams could have done the same, but didn't.

Sharing "the occasional family picture" is completely different when you're sharing it with 90 million people and it's disingenuous to pretend it's not!

Whosthetabbynow · 20/01/2026 13:08

AllIdoistidyup · 20/01/2026 12:08

People who were there said that's how VB was introduced onto the dance floor by Marc Anthony - he made a massive gaffe there.

Well I knew it was something like that.

MummyJ36 · 20/01/2026 13:08

I think the fact that Brooklyn married into an incredibly rich family has a huge amount to do with it. I doubt Nicola was star struck at all by Victoria and probably thought that all the attention should be on her as the bride (and potentially as the family with more money / status). I think perhaps both Victoria and Nicola perceived the other one to be slightly “below” them either in terms of money or fame and Brooklyn has decided to side with in laws.

I think as with all of these things there is likely fault on both sides but he has definitely gone full Prince Harry in his onslaught against his family!

Elizabethandfour · 20/01/2026 13:08

Shy? I don’t think so. Remember when they moved to the US and she was worried no one would know her so she did that ghastly reality show? This was after a well documented kidnapping plot involving children. David and her are dreadful people who will do anything for a dollar.

daisychain01 · 20/01/2026 13:09

Lottapianos · 20/01/2026 11:51

'She comes across as a very awkward, sad person, David seems to dislike her and speak down to her'

I agree - I feel sorry for her too and I think the endless nastiness about her facial expressions is appalling. Telling a woman what she should be doing with her own face in public is misogynist bullying

I'm not taking sides about the latest revelations because it's none of my business and I don't have all the details. What Brooklyn has shared does not show her in a good light AT ALL. Everything else I had heard about her was really positive - very professional and good to work with, pleasant, funny, hard working. It's a real mess and the vultures are having a field day

There are some comments in here that drip with engrained misogyny.

She doesn’t have a reputation for being a nice person at all

wtf is a "nice person". Who is it for anyone to give VB marks out of 10 for how "nice" she is. Why should she have to be nice to please anyone.

why is all the spite directed towards her?

why don't people stop poking their nose into and comment on other people's lives, choices, behaviours, actions?

it's so flipping tedious,

EasternStandard · 20/01/2026 13:09

Stayinitstoocold · 20/01/2026 12:55

Yes exactly, I really think it won’t last and it will all come on. They must be dreadfully hurt, especially Vb, but of course they’d forgive him, it’s their child. I expect he’ll feel v guilty one day.

They need to listen and reflect. Using your dc for a brand isn’t going to go well.

Harper has been all over their social media since she was tiny. She was dressed as Anna Wintour at her mum's fashion show for all the world to see when she was 7! They know that there will be inch upon inch of columns written about her.

This ^^

It's obvious that the OP can't see that V&D have done anything wrong, and it's all down to who Brooklyn has married

As for the comment someone made about there wasn't that much in the media with the kids... come on lol
It was endless.

The Beckhams courted publicity and pimped their children out at every opportunity. And are still doing it now. (Well, they were until this statement came out!)
I wonder which son VB will drape herself over now if they start the endless pics again?

Agree but I do think she wants to be upper middle class/posh & there’s sensitivity there. She got rid of the tats, the evolution & care over the ongoing development of RP accent…This isn’t the sign of someone totally self accepting IMO.

I know why, the snobbish & indeed the upper middle class in her circle will mostly think she’s dead common & this can be uncomfortable if you’re not totally secure in yourself.

The whole ‘you were posh really as Dad had a Roller’ in Doc she clearly enjoys. Many take this at face value, that really her fam were ‘posh’ & she likes that.

It’s a shame as so much of the stick IMO is deeply unfair.

Yep. I've seen her school uniform, her different hair styles, the lot. And still it goes on now she wears the satin nightdresses!

bathsmat · 20/01/2026 13:13

After all these years and levels of fame she still seems so self conscious & self aware. I don’t understand why she does it to herself tbh.

The baby she sold to the press at every opportunity. The child who was pulled out of school, for photo opportunities. It's the children I feel sorry for. Not the parents who only care about fame and £££

If Brooklyn didn't care about fame he would shutdown all his social media and fuck off, but he does care. He and his wife are plastered everywhere, they sold the pics of both their weddings. He is the epitome of caring about fame and money, gone from one millionaire family to a billionaire family. It's a pretty silly thing to say that all the Beckhams care about is fame and money, they can still care about fame and money and love their children.

No one would know who Brooklyn was without Brand Beckham. He would likely be working as a sous chef in a very average restaurant and dating Jane from college if they weren't famous. As it is he's as rich as a king and yet still wants a pity party. He's a spoil little sod, with little to complain about. All this fame and money gave him anxiety, oh well loads of us have much worse anxiety and depression with none of daddy's or wifey's money in the bank and yet we manage to not fuck over our parents, even if they were a bit shit.
