Military conscription

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 09/01/2026 10:25

There is lots of talk about if ww3 happens then military conscription will happen

This is basically people who sit in an office safely saying we need to either send ourselves or out children to fight and die in horrible conditions

Am I unreasonable to think that anyone who thinks this is a good idea

They should be the first ones to sign up and to lead by example

Any politicians who think this is a good idea, there children should be the first to go

Russia is literally sending troops in wheel chairs and crunches to the front line

So age, disability and gender will not be a problem for anyone who supports any conscription policy's, they can go first

Also the UK will not be invaded, we are not Ukrainian, If we were more like Ukraine I would be more in favour of this as the country itself is under threat

I hope all the people who are for this

They and there families will be first to sign up

I think it's easy to say that we should do this as everyone always has an excuse why it should not be them

It's easy to assume it will be someone's else family and children who will go first and they will get to continue their lives as normal

But gender, age and any other reason should not be an excuse

If you think this is a good idea, you should go first

Yeah, other people should sacrifice themselves to defend you and your way of life so you don't have to. 🙄

They can go to hell. There's no way me and mine are fighting for a Britain that's utterly despised by globalist starmer and his cabal. See what successive so called governments have reduced the country to since the last wars. It wasn't worth it and I'm ashamed to say that because I totally respect those who fought and gave their lives.

Send snivelling starmer and his cronies to the front instead. Remember, a war ensures compliance from the next three generations. Ask yourselves why starmer so badly wants a war.

We're all being had.

Shhh... They told me not to tell you about it though.

He made his little speech about our children having to be prepared to suffer as their grand and great grand parents did. He wants a war, of course he does. It ensures compliance for his globalist plans. Davos or Westminster? Remember?

Posturing again. Although what he thinks will happen if troops in Ukraine are part of a break in ceasefire who knows. Maybe he doesn’t know.

Does he? What makes you think that?

He’s been sabre rattling for months, as have other European leaders and NATO. After the lies we were told in order to justify the Iraq war, I don’t believe a word of what any of them say.

Where has he rattles a sabre? About what? Genuinely confused and I follow politics pretty closely.

He’s dropped hints for months about a war with Russia, I can’t really help you if you haven’t noticed.

sweetsardineface · 09/01/2026 15:50

The OP’s question is pointless. What is ‘WW3’? In what precise context might conscription be considered? We imagine we would never do all sorts of things because most of us have never been confronted by war, starvation, genocide, invasion etc… But people do extraordinary things when they are faced with extraordinary situations, including murdering neighbours and friends and participating in horrific forms of torture, abuse and murder.

We live in extremely dangerous times and conflict of one kind or another seems likely. Russia has been at war with the UK for years, murdering people here and interfering with democratic processes. We need to be aware of these threats, especially as NATO looks unlikely to survive.

Now that is a good point. Blair casts a long shadow.

We aren't going to war with Russia. Even if you ignore Starmer and just listen to Putin.

He’s talked about peacekeeping a truce in Ukraine. Could you link to one of these hints about war with Russia because I’ve definitely missed them. Unless it’s you reading something in by a massive stretch I have no idea what you mean.

War is diplomacy by other means. Nothing more. Nothing less.

No, but some things can. Like your contention about Starmer wanting a war badly to ensure 3 generations of compliance (to what?)

Training me to use a gun - not a great idea.

ExpectZeroContext · 09/01/2026 15:55

It's no a question of if it is going to happen but when it is going to happen. Just look at history!
Mandatory conscription for both sexes is being adopted in other countries and the UK will not be any different.

I’m sorry, but I don’t keep a record of every comment I hear Starmer, or anyone else, say. But it’s been clear for months that attempts are being made to nudge us into supporting war.

TreeByLeaf · 09/01/2026 15:55

You’re not choosing living your current life or fighting. You’re choosing living under a potentially brutal occupation or fighting.

i wonder if we go to war and eventually lose, we should look at life in East Germany as an example of what life might be like here, and how long it might take to recover? Dreadful standard of living, suspicion as to who’s a collaborator etc.

or just like Covid - everything super expensive, can’t get anything done as nothing in shops / builders merchants etc, plus energy blackouts etc. everyone massively stressed and argumentative. Think shit’s bleak now, it would be a whole new world.

I don’t want war or conscription. But I’ll volunteer myself if I can take the place of my children.

Fundamentally our society is worth protecting. “British values” as taught in schools / it’s a bit 🙄, but I’m very happy with democracy, justice, fairness etc !

I think whether it’s Starmer or Kemi in power is irrelevant as to whether we end up in a war. *If it’s coming, no govt will be able to stop it. It will be a matter of whether we have a period of appeasement before or not, or if we just roll over and give up. I like to think we’re better than that.

(if it’s Farage, he’ll have sold us out - massive coward and definitely in Russia’s pockets / no chance with him in charge).

Ah ok. You can’t recall any examples or show any articles or comments made but he’s definitely done it because you think he has. Fair enough.

ThreeSixtyTwo · 09/01/2026 13:57

What is the alternative? War isn't consensual, it's ultimately one sided act.

You can react - defend, counter attack or surrender.
And you can try to prevent it, or not.

Saying "we won't fight" is effectively issuing an invitation to be invaded, because there won't be any resistance.

We can start by stopping pretending that lessons have been learned from the world wars and start being honest about the realities of war instead of pushing the theoretical concept of noble sacrifice by people who have never been in war.

People who want to fight can fight. If there aren't enough people who want to fight then the cards need to fall where they may. We've had enough chances to learn from it.
