ICE agent shoots woman in the face.

It had to happen; in Minneapolis a woman in a car was shouting at the multiple ICE agents. One tried to open her car door, she started to drive away and was shot 2 (3? 4?) times in the head.

Trump is blaming her. Fucking hell.

That is clearly false. The video shows her steering to the right of the ICE operative who shoots her in the head and then steps to the side of the vehicle and shoots her again through the side window. Why are you lying like this?

Seriously have you even seen the video. The woman drove her car at the ICE officer- it's as clear as day.

Now whether shooting her was a reasonable use of force is a different question.

Was she? Because in the slightly longer video, one car drives in front of her (where there is ample space) and she sticks her hand out of the window, waves the other vehicle past and says “go around”. It looks more like she was turning her car around.

And then there’s the horrendous video of the aftermath. Men with guns facing the onlookers, not a single one attempting to do anything for the woman they’ve shot. A man asks if he can go to her, says he’s a dr. They say no and that they have their own medics. There are no medics there at that point.

American law enforcement absolutely do assume people they encounter have guns and are willing to use them. Resisting arrest or fleeing when being told to stop is not a good idea. Refusing to comply with their instructions is not a good idea. A lot of American law enforcement officers are poorly trained and selected.

Anyone advocating and encouraging others to behave this was need to consider what they want to accomplish. There are a lot of these confrontations and it was only a matter of time before it ended this way.

In the UK we can’t conceive of a police service or an immigration service behaving in this way. They don’t because we don’t want them to behave this way. They behave like this in American because a lot of Americans expect their police to be that aggressive and punitive.

Look again! Actually watch it properly. The officer moved in front and slightly to the side of the car. The car was moving sharply right she was not moving towards him. Had he not stepped forwards towards her moving vehicle he would have been nowhere near the path of her vehicle!

HIS actions caused this. ICE actions caused this. This is on Trump and the administration. It is state sponsored murder.

Exactly this. It’s a country where if a state agent tells you to do something, you don’t have the option of a safe, peaceful refusal. You do as you’re told, when you’re told to do it, or you run the risk of being shot and killed because they seem to think they’re all still fucking cowboys and able to dish out a death sentence to anyone who doesn’t instantly comply.

Maybe she panicked, or maybe she thought they wouldn’t bother to chase after her and arrest her if she just ignored them and drove off, or she might have thought it couldn’t happen to her because of the colour of her skin, but it’s pretty well known across the rest of the world that many US state operatives with access to firearms operate a shoot first, ask questions later policy, so I don’t understand why she thought declining to be arrested was an option. I certainly didn’t see anything that would make that ICE agent believe his life or the lives of his colleagues were at risk. He had no reason to shoot her other than anger that she wasn’t doing what she was told. And he’s going to get away with it.

I don’t think anyone is surprised. Angry yes, but not surprised. People have been warning about this for months and months. It was inevitable it would happen sooner or later. My only surprise is that it hasn’t happened before now.

Well it clearly wasn’t because even if she was deliberately driving right at him, he stepped out of the way and was fine. Her car continued forward despite her being shot in the head, so he didn’t stop the car. So he could have just, I don’t know, stepped out of the way without shooting her.

Have literally seen the identical clips with different people saying "this clearly shows she was driving at him/this clearly shows she wasn't driving at him".

It's sad that she is dead, but she made a choice to take a potentially deadly action against an armed officer when she drove a vehicle into him.

There is a video from a different angle showing him being hit before he shoots. It was self defense and the fault is with both the deceased woman and the political activists that riled her, and people like her up to the point that they will deliberately hit another human being with a car.
