ICE agent shoots woman in the face.

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/01/2026 21:18

It had to happen; in Minneapolis a woman in a car was shouting at the multiple ICE agents. One tried to open her car door, she started to drive away and was shot 2 (3? 4?) times in the head.

Trump is blaming her. Fucking hell.

Masks slipping all over this thread as Lilactimes said. In some ways it is good to know what people are really about.

Yep, shocking really on a website set up to support mothers... yet here we are, with some posters pleased a mother is dead and many more defending the actions of the ICE agent.

People fatally shot by UK police in 2024/25: 2
People fatally shot by US law enforcement in 2025: 1280

For balance I would be interested to see, out of those deaths, how many victims were armed with a gun themselves and/or involved in a firearms incident leading to their apprehension?

They were all for jailing Lucy Connolly for a tweet - another mother.

And also Mumsnet is not some cosy forum of women supporting and uplifting one another. It attracts posters from across the world, male and female of all political persuasion and with their own interest in posting. Sometimes with some very concerted interest in posting.

That’s the sort of thing you’d do for a kid pranking strangers, not a grown adult trying to block law enforcement with their vehicle.

But she wasn't. She'd indicated for them to go past her. She wasn't blocking them at all.

A mother inciting the murder of others, and their children.
What has that to do with this situation?

And people protesting ICE are preventing dangerous criminals from being apprehended some of whom have engaged in high level VAWG and murder

So killing someone is a reasonable response to blocking officers with your vehicle?

The footage from the front angle clearly shows that the ICE agent didn't fire his gun until after the car had moved forward and made contact with him, lifting him briefly off the ground.

A car is a weapon. Whether the woman intended to use it as such is irrelevent - she did.

Law enforcement in the USA are armed. If you direct a weapon at them - whether raising a gun or knife or driving a car at them - you're going to get shot. US laws support this. Law enforcement isn't expected to first try to 'de-escalate' if there's a weapon being used or about to be used against them - they take the threat out first.

I feel very sorry for the woman because it all happened so fast and she probably didn't actually intend to cause harm with the car, she just made a split-second poor decision. But the ICE agent acted correctly, in line with his training and their laws.

If you're in a car in the US and law enforcement shouts at you to get out - you get the fuck out immediately.

Which footage is this? Do you have a link? The footage I've seen does not show the car make contact with the officer.

The PA comments below don’t add much. A jury will be presented with the evidence I hope, any of us would need to see all of it to make an informed decision.

Help what? A young mother has been murdered in cold blood. The President of the US has lied about the circumstances. Nothing I or others write about masks slipping will "help" that.

Very odd comment.

She was warning people that ICE was active in her neighbourhood. That is constitutionally protected activity. The same constitution that protects your free speech.

This is a serious question - the Nazis killed people for hiding jews and others that they wished to exterminate. Technically, those people, who aided, assisted and hid jews were interfering with law enforcement. How is this different? Would you defend that?

Surely, like most of your ilk, you'd claim that you voted for them to get rid of 'the worst of the worst'? Or is it just anyone not white? Once they've done that, and it's safe for you to return, are you planning to trot back from wherever around the globe you are and take up one of those low paid landscaping jobs the immigrants have stolen?

That was my exact thought too before seeing yours.
Along with the "underground railroad" in the US, where runaway slaves hid out in back yards /safe spaces before escaping to the next one.
Should anyone who was helping them have been shot dead too? As it's "just a consequence?"

Nomoremening · 08/01/2026 13:01

Haven’t RTFT yet or watch the video but what most are saying in the first few pages of this thread is what I’m hearing too - that she did not drive at an ICE agent and the shooting was entirely unnecessary.

It doesn’t make sense that he was going to be run over but managed to shoot through the driver window at the side, right? If he was at the side of her he wasn’t in danger of being run over.

Also tbh since when was it acceptable to shoot people for driving towards you if you’re standing in their way? As someone who doesn’t drive and walks a lot, I’ve unfortunately had to jump out the way of many a car on the road and even on pavements. I never thought hey I need a gun to take them out.

There’s another thread going on here about idiot drivers going through pedestrian crossings and as frightening and dangerous as that is, even if I lived in a country where guns where legal I wouldn’t be advocating shooting at drivers who drive at you. It’s much better to jump out the way and then report them.

From what I hear she was driving fairly slowly as well. This wasn’t a case of a life or death situation for the officer.

They had her registration number, if they had just grounds for detaining her and really wanted to apprehend her, they could have got in their car and given chase or located her later via her car details.

I’m truly astonished at what is happening in USA right now. Womens rights being completely rolled back, healthcare inaccessible for many, masked federal agents freely kidnapping people off the streets and now apparently shooting at will. Not to mention the state abducting foreign leaders and threatening to invade NATO territories.

I wonder if Americans realise how many parallels there are with the rise of fascism or Nazism in their country, with the slow degradation of rights and lack of respect for foreign sovereignty?

What women’s rights are being rolled back?

Agree
Maybe theres another woman they shot which wouldn't surprise me at all
because some people on here are clearly watching something completely different from reality

You can see on the CNN vid, that as the shooter fires into the car, another officer still has his hand on the window frame, and he pulls back as if stung by a bee.

No wonder the shooter ran, he recklessly endangered everyone there. He is discharging his weapon feet away from another officers head, while aiming inches from where the other officers hands are.

It's a wonder nobody else was hit.

That was a temper driven execution.

Playingvideogames · 08/01/2026 13:02

I’ve just watched the video and he draws the handgun from its holster before she starts driving at him. Her car is pointing at him at that stage - but she isn’t moving, so yes, unlawful IMO

You don’t have the full evidence. This will need a court case to go through it, anyone who thinks they can decide confidently without that evidence is likely mistaken.

Gosh no surely not, I'm shocked I tell you etc.

Always nice to see in black-and-white how quite a lot of people living in democratic countries who claim to love free speech would happily see women executed in cold blood if they're probably a bit left-leaning.

Which footage is this? Do you have a link? The footage I've seen does not show the car make contact with the officer.

The New York Times has an excellent analysis of the video. I don't want to put up the link as it shows the murder, so am going to paste the transcript.

Videos Contradict Trump Administration Account of ICE Shooting in Minneapolis
An analysis of footage from three camera angles shows that the motorist was driving away from — not toward — a federal officer when he opened fire.
On Wednesday in Minneapolis, a federal agent fatally shot a motorist, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. Trump administration officials said these were “defensive shots” fired because the officer was being run over. But our analysis of bystander footage, filmed from different angles, appears to show the agent was not in the path of the victim’s SUV when he fired three shots at close range. Here’s how events unfolded. Moments before the shooting, the victim’s maroon SUV is stopped in the middle of the street. Multiple unmarked federal vehicles are idling nearby. Secretary Noem alleged the motorist “was blocking the officers in.” Bystanders are blowing whistles and yelling at federal agents. Then, federal vehicles start moving toward the maroon SUV with sirens and lights blaring. A federal agent films the scene on his phone. The driver rolls forward slightly, turning left, then stops and waves for others to go ahead. Two agents exit this silver pickup and walk toward the vehicle. Moments later, shots are fired. Let’s look at the scene again more closely. This is the agent who shoots the driver. He walks around the car filming and disappears from view. Other agents pull up and order the driver to exit her vehicle. One of them grabs at the door handle and reaches inside. The SUV reverses, then turns right, apparently attempting to leave. At the same time, the agent filming crosses toward the left of the vehicle and grabs his gun. He opens fire on the motorist and continues shooting as she drives past. The moment the agent fires, he is standing here to the left of the SUV and the wheels are pointing to the right away from the agent. This appears to conflict with allegations that the SUV was ramming or about to ram the officer. President Trump and others said the federal agent was hit by the SUV, often pointing to another video filmed from a different angle. And it’s true that at this moment, in this grainy, low-resolution footage, it does look like the agent is being struck by the SUV. But when we synchronize it with the first clip, we can see the agent is not being run over. In fact, his feet are positioned away from the SUV. The SUV crashes into a white car parked down the road. A bystander runs toward the collision. The federal agents on scene do not appear to rush to provide emergency medical care. Eventually, the agent who shot the motorist approaches the vehicle. Seconds later, he turns back around and tells his colleagues to call 911. Agents blocked several bystanders who attempt to provide medical care, including one who identifies himself as a physician. At the same time, several agents, including the agent who opened fire, get in their vehicles and drive off, apparently altering the active crime scene.
