ICE agent shoots woman in the face.

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/01/2026 21:18

It had to happen; in Minneapolis a woman in a car was shouting at the multiple ICE agents. One tried to open her car door, she started to drive away and was shot 2 (3? 4?) times in the head.

Trump is blaming her. Fucking hell.

I think he'll get away with it. The vehicle does seem to touch him if you look at it from another angle but it's really just slightly and not in a way that would deliberately hit him. She's just trying to get away. If he was really in the way you'd put all your effort into jumping out the way whereas the way he moves and shoots shows he knows he wasn't in any danger.

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/01/2026 12:44

Snowqueenie123 · 08/01/2026 12:38

It looks like she was waving the ICE vehicle to let it through and that there was enough room for it to pass- therefore, she was not blocking the road. She was then needlessly confronted by angry, verbally aggressive ICE.

None of us know whether fight/flight/freeze would have kicked in under such circumstances.

Maybe her actions came from a place of knowing her rights- that she had a right to protest and that they are not supposed to interfere/intervene with anything other than their clear remit?

The government narrative doesn’t match up with the filmed evidence. He was in no danger - he put himself there and shot at her several times- twice from the side. It looks like he put other people potentially at risk by his actions re the out of control car.

Stating this woman is a ‘terrorist’ isn’t flying is it? The domestic ‘terrorist’ I personally see are the ICE shooter, his colleagues in how they approached this woman and the cover up thereafter from higher level.

The government narrative is an outright lie!

I don't think these people are clowns @SwissChaletPatriot

People on this thread are largely horrified that a mother of a 6 yo has been shot by a profession who's job it is to de escalate situations and maintain calm and order within the law. (Understand ICE not police etc but still an officer with power).

Most of us are horrified that's it's calmly being passed off as being ok by other people on a forum where they often ask for advice on being a mum or a woman in a tough world.

Mumsnet is our haven at times but some hideous masks have slipped on this thread.

UK government jury issues does not equate with firearm carrying and shooting protesters. In the UK, we have an issue with water cannons on protestors.
You are emphasising the difference between us and Americans and it's sad to witness.

What an excellent, calm post. Well done Lilactimes.

My friend was shot in LA, clearly a member of press last year by ICE agents. They do not care, Trump does not care. People in the USA need to remove Trump. He's ruining America and slowly the world and everyone is standing back and watching. It's just madness.

PS, been shooting black people for years and mostly getting away with it.

Edited

I saw footage of that young muslin student being grabbed of the street by masked men who refused to ID themsleves or show badges till someone shouting they were filming and calling the police. I thought that would be a wake up call it wasn't and has been replicated many times.

Sandyhook - and the many school shooting wasn't a wake up call about school or mass shootings. Many seem to be bemused at the Candians anger at the 51 state comments and only care when it starts to hit their own bottom line.

I think large swaths of the population are oblivious to eveything that doesn't directly affect them not helped by dire news coverage and partisan reporting.

They shot a woman in a moving car on ice!
How is that ever a better solution to shooting the tires ???

Or

Shock horror.

As they wanted her to move the car why not just let her do that….because that is what she was doing

Edited

The tyres part is a red herring. If the outcome should have been no shooting then it’s that not tyres.

I agree with pp the woman would have been in a state of panic, that it’s stark to see compared to policing here, and what was shouted is relevant whether it was move or not. Mostly it needs analysis of evidence and verification in a court really.

DuncinToffee · 08/01/2026 12:45

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/08/briefing/an-oval-office-viewing.html

The video played in slow motion. It showed agents ordering Good to exit her S.U.V., which partly blocks a street. She backs up, then drives forward and turns. An agent near the headlight fires, and then continues to shoot as her car moves past.

After the reporters watched it with the president, one of them said that it did not appear to show the car running over the ICE officer. “It’s a terrible scene,” Trump said when the video ended. “I hate to see it.”

Still, he implied that Good had brought it on herself.

Alexandra2001 · 08/01/2026 12:47

Dbank · 08/01/2026 12:28

Because it does matter that she deliberately drove at an agent and lifted him off his feet.

https://edition.cnn.com/us/live-news/minneapolis-ice-shooting-01-08-26

Looked at that a few times, at no time was he hit, he chose to stand in front of the car, he fired one shot through the windscreen and and what looks like a further 2 shots as the car passed him, through the open drivers side window, remarkable reactions, considering you think he'd just been run over....

Its possible the 1st shot killed her instantly, jamming her foot down on the accelerator.

At multiple times during the exchange with the woman and the ICE agents, she could have been apprehended with a taser, cs gas or blocked with their own cars.

These guys are little more than mercenaries, with no regard for human life.

I agree he will get away with it, not because his actions were justified, but because it is America where shooting innocent people is allowed as long as they are not white.

Out of interest, how many of the 14 people shot at by Trump's ICE in the last 12 months were white, male protestors?

RedTagAlan · 08/01/2026 12:49

Whatwerewetalkingabout · 08/01/2026 12:01

Okay explain this. If that was shot from the front of the vehicle it would have missed her head wouldn't it? And the drivers side window has been shot out, and that was definitely shot at from the side.

The side window looks open. But yes, there is only one bullet hole in the windscreen, while he fired multiple shots. So he shot her through the side window.
He was in no danger. And from that CNN vid, you can see he has attitude as he approaches. He is not involved in the discussion at all, but he is pulling his pistol as he strides up to position himself at front left quarter of the car, and he aims his gun at her.

He is not involved at all, but he forces himself and his gun in.

Also of note, that was a reckless discharge of his firearm. There were other officers in his line of fire, and pedestrians on the sidewalk. Bullets do ricochet. He endangered the other officers, as well as bystanders.

That knob needs the book thrown at him.

And where the feck is his uniform that identifies him as an officer.

In all fairness the left are clamouring the call Meduro ‘the legitimate President of Venezuela’ and are omitting the fact he’s a brutal dictator and his liberated peoples are celebrating.

In fairness no they’re not. A few of us are wondering why you’d appoint his deputy over the opposition leader. But let’s not derail.

oocooloo · 08/01/2026 12:49

I wonder if other options (other than what seems to me to be a "shoot to kill") policy) could have worked to stop her in a non life threatening way, and if they would have been feasible. What I mean is, was shooting her dead the only option here?

What about shooting out the tyres, throwing down spikes, smashing the driver's window and pepper spraying/tasering?

walllaw · 08/01/2026 12:49

RingoJuice · 08/01/2026 07:58

No.

It’s a direct consequence of her actions tho. She should not have tried to interfere with ICE agents. What made her think she could just, fuck with law enforcement??

She was warning people that ICE was active in her neighbourhood. That is constitutionally protected activity. The same constitution that protects your free speech.

This is a serious question - the Nazis killed people for hiding jews and others that they wished to exterminate. Technically, those people, who aided, assisted and hid jews were interfering with law enforcement. How is this different? Would you defend that?

Surely, like most of your ilk, you'd claim that you voted for them to get rid of 'the worst of the worst'? Or is it just anyone not white? Once they've done that, and it's safe for you to return, are you planning to trot back from wherever around the globe you are and take up one of those low paid landscaping jobs the immigrants have stolen?

because some people on here are clearly watching something completely different from reality

allthingsinmoderation · 08/01/2026 12:50

Frequency · 08/01/2026 12:31

Fear makes people behave irrationally, which is why firearms officers need to be trained to expect unpredictable actions from the public.

Have you never done anything stupid in a moment of panic?

I cant imagine driving at an armed police officer personally.(though i dont live in a country where armed police are routine.)
Ive seen a number of these videos from the USA in various scenarios where people are stopped by the police and don't appear panicked but just do not follow instruction even thought the police are armed .
For me ,nothing short of absolute life threatening danger, makes shooting someone Ok though, yet it seems to happen in the most mundane police interactions.
Would better training on deescalation help?

Snowqueenie123 · 08/01/2026 12:52

It is possible she was panicking and because the road was icy thought it safer to go forward and park to get out of the way rather than reverse. I don’t think we can see what was behind her?

A few months ago I posted about Trump being a dictator and a fascist. Numerous posters shouted me down. I wonder if anyone is starting to change their views. The real test will be in 2029 - will he hold a full and fair democratic election and will he leave office if voted out?

Of course we don’t have the prevalence of guns. That makes people more fearful.

VapeFree26 · 08/01/2026 12:55

The footage from the front angle clearly shows that the ICE agent didn't fire his gun until after the car had moved forward and made contact with him, lifting him briefly off the ground.

A car is a weapon. Whether the woman intended to use it as such is irrelevent - she did.

Law enforcement in the USA are armed. If you direct a weapon at them - whether raising a gun or knife or driving a car at them - you're going to get shot. US laws support this. Law enforcement isn't expected to first try to 'de-escalate' if there's a weapon being used or about to be used against them - they take the threat out first.

I feel very sorry for the woman because it all happened so fast and she probably didn't actually intend to cause harm with the car, she just made a split-second poor decision. But the ICE agent acted correctly, in line with his training and their laws.

If you're in a car in the US and law enforcement shouts at you to get out - you get the fuck out immediately.
