Dh back to work
Dc back to school

I am the type who normally feels sad holidays are over and kids are back and so on, but this holiday hasn’t been great and I cannot wait for 9 am tomorrow.
I intend to stop at the shop for treats and spend until pick up watching Netflix shows…blissfully alone! (aside from the dogs-who are no trouble)

God I’m devastated

reception child and nursery baby here - we’ve had the most wonderful 2 weeks together - out every day for big walks and been to all the farms and out for lovely picnics and hot chocolates every day (lucky me he weather been so beautiful - freezing! But we are wrapped up warm

lazy evenings watching films!

my husband said he feels like he proper got to know our 18 month old as he is in work so much and spends such little time with him in the evenings after work!

let the kids stay up a little later than usual and we’ve ended up all sleeping in until 8am everyday - no idea how we will all get up at 7 tomorrow and out the door at 8 🤣🤣

it’s honestly been amazing (husband and I took loads of turns to go off and have days too ourselves as well - proper good balance of family and solo time I felt

I really feel like this too! First time during any holiday ever that the kids lay in till 8am. Dunno how I'll get them up for 6.30 in the morning. 😫 as well as that my 1 year old has become really attached to us so I'm dreading the drop off at childcare tomorrow! 😪

You must be on the wrong thread because absolutely no where does it say that the OP doesnt have a job (and even if she doesn't, how on earth is that any business of yours)

I don’t have a job 👋 so Pavementworrier can direct their anger at me if they like 😂

Envious, OP… ordinarily I’d be exactly the same, but unfortunately DH took early retirement a couple of months ago.
Now he’s always around, like Banquo’s fucking ghost. I mean, he’s a nice man and a good husband but I never get time alone any more!

That sounds horrible (in the nicest possible way) 😂

Pavementworrier · 04/01/2026 19:44

HerVagestyTheQueef · 04/01/2026 19:41

So what?
OPs work life is none of anyone else’s business .Confused

So I think people who don't work are being unreasonable

Not anger more fascistic dehumanisation

Mummyto3ginismyfriend · 04/01/2026 19:45

I'm also quite excited. First day doing a new job tomorrow and I'm in the office all day. DC have an inset day and they are their Dad's problem!

HorrorFan81 · 04/01/2026 19:46

For once I am excited about going back to work but mainly for having my lunch breaks and solo walking time back. Pretty much every walk I have been on over xmas has been accompanied by DH and the kids and both kids just talk CONSTANTLY - i am desperate to put my ear pods in and listen to a podcast and not have to converse 🤣

Ohhhhh, you're the one having a hissy fit on the Nanny's cosmetic operation thread 😂😂

You definitely don't work full time given all this spare time you have to get your knickers in a twist.

He needs a shed.

I suggested that at Christmas. He’s very interested! Said he needs a studio for his “art”.

Think I’ll look into it next week Grin

Friend of mine surprised her husband with one as a Christmas gift this year after he took early retirement. She's barely seen him since it was installed the week before Christmas 😂

Happyjoe · 04/01/2026 19:50

Lol, my mum had 4 kids, after about 3 days of any of the holidays she couldn't wait for us to go back to school. She told us all the time!

Enjoy the peace and 'me time' OP!

She does work, as has been mentioned.

And yes this may be AIBU, but you seem confused as to what OP is AIBUing about.

You seem confused about the concept of diversity of views

She clearly doesn't work full time and so

I think she's a drain on society and smug about it thus unreasonable

starmoonsun · 04/01/2026 19:56

I totally get you. I can't wait till Tuesday when mine go back and I can return after the school run to an empty house.
Hoping to catch up with The Traitors although I do have a few jobs to do.

So anyone that doesn't work Mon-Fri doesn't work full time?

So my 66h per week Thursday - Tuesday are not full time? Gosh that's good to know.

SpringIsComingSoonFolks · 04/01/2026 19:59

(Excited about)

usedtobeaylis · 04/01/2026 20:01

I don't work quite full time but I do work Monday-Friday. I'm requesting Friday off to laze my society-draining backside around.

Do you not work yourself?

Snowyowl99 · 04/01/2026 20:05

Nope..I love family time and am a bit sad that DH is at work and DC at school as I love spending time with them . Roll on the next school break

Songlines · 04/01/2026 20:07

I've retired recently so this is the first January that I'm not going back to work. It feels odd. I'm looking forward to it but it still feels odd.

You're a drain on society, OP! But don’t worry, so am I.

@Pavementworrier Diversity of views is great… if they’re actually relevant to the thread!
But this thread isn’t about about the morals, ethics or economics of working full time (or not, as the case may be)
And you really DON’T know that OP doesn’t work full time.
