Feel a bit mean, but so excited for tomorrow

Dh back to work
Dc back to school

I am the type who normally feels sad holidays are over and kids are back and so on, but this holiday hasn’t been great and I cannot wait for 9 am tomorrow.
I intend to stop at the shop for treats and spend until pick up watching Netflix shows…blissfully alone! (aside from the dogs-who are no trouble)

OP posts:

Exactly.
I worked all last week apart from NY day.

I am so glad i am retired :-)

Ha glad you’re happy OP with your feet up. The rest of us will go to work and pay tax to keep this country on its feet. Jeez.

Not the OP but as someone else enjoying with my feet up - ta, appreciate it 👍

Luck has nothing to do with it. It’s all hard, hard work and difficult choices.
I’m very grateful, we are mass goers and are very thankful for the ability to work. Both of us, He has two jobs and I have one full time and one part time.
But it’s back to choices…

Don't be daft, luck has plenty to do with it.

Namechangefor2026 · 04/01/2026 23:09

Have a lovely day tomorrow OP xxxx

FluffyDiplodocus · 04/01/2026 23:12

I’m super excited for my day off on Wednesday for the same reason and have already planned it out! Enjoy!!

SENcatsandfish · 04/01/2026 23:37

I cant wait for tuesday when they're back at school. Having SEN kids as a single mum is damn hard. Back to routine for all of us.

Okiedokie123 · 04/01/2026 23:38

I like most people will be working all day tomorrow and all week. If you do work op, bit weird not to also say that in the op. If you had said “I’m so oozing forward to a quiet day at home tomorrow whilst the kids are at school and dh is at work but I’ll be off to work at 4pm” or similar no one would have queried that at all.

lifewillopenup · 04/01/2026 23:38

I was in the office on Friday to pick something up - it was meant to be closed to staff. I did a mad dance with jazz hands at the CCTV, wherever it was. It was lovely to be back in - the quiet! The tidiness!

tachetastic · 04/01/2026 23:41

Between MN and me, I went online today and booked a few days annual leave for this week. My work was closed last week which was lovely but every day was all about the family. The next few days are for me! 😱

What would be the problem if OP didn't work? And why does she owe you her work schedule?

I used to work rows of 12 hour nights; I never came back and said "I'm so glad to be off on Monday, but I'll be back in at 7pm on Wednesday". I'd just say "I'm glad to be off on Monday".

Or she could just ignore or laugh at the envious nayslayers. She doesn't have to explain herself and neither do any SAHMs .

Cherryicecreamx · 04/01/2026 23:48

I've been counting down the days (and feel guilty for doing so)! I just find the constant entertainment exhausting.

FreidaMaxwellThrillersaremysanity · 04/01/2026 23:51

Amazing! What will you watch?

No one needed to query in the first place whether or not she works. Her work circumstances are not our business.
She merely created a light hearted post about her excitement at having a day off & the house to herself.
She does not have to justify the reasons for this day to herself, nor should we need to ask. God forbid should any of us ladies enjoy taking time out just for ourselves. Every waking moment that does not feature kids/house/dh should be dedicated to being good citizens, working and paying our taxes.
There's more to life than work!

Soashamed60 · 04/01/2026 23:56

Debtcrusher · 04/01/2026 20:03

Do you not work yourself?

Why does that matter to you?

crochetmylifeaway · 05/01/2026 00:01

I was looking forward to peace tomorrow but all schools in our area are closed due to snow and husband is off work unless an emergency happens. We cannot get out of our street and the forecast means I doubt the kids will be back this week so I’m preparing for another week of holiday with the odd bit of online work if I can convince my youngest to do it. Dyslexic and autistic so doesn’t do well with school work out of school.

enjoy your peace I will be green with envy!

MangaKanga · 05/01/2026 00:01

I vividly remember the last time I had the house to myself without needing to go to work, walk the dog, hustle the kids, listen to DH wittering about football, wait in for a delivery or tradies. I didn't have to get dressed or eat anything or actually move.

It was the headiest, giddyiest feeling.😍

Bitter much! Read the pp & you'll see the pp does work 🙄

HerVagestyTheQueef · 05/01/2026 00:08

This thread just keeps getting more ridiculous!

”Its OK to say you’re enjoying a day at home tomorrow, OP, but only if you state the time of your next shift at work ”

Paraphrasing, obviously, but FFS Hmm

hence I voted yabu because without any further context (and no…. Of course she doesn’t owe any of us those details but she does want us to share her joy so…..) It’s just rubbing it in that I’ve got to work tomorrow and all week. Id much rather sit and watch tv eating crisps all day but as a lone adult I can’t!

<shrug>

So you wouldn't like someone else to be happy doing something because you can't do the same. You sound iincredibly immature. Grow up.

That is genuinely pathetic.

Howarewealldoing · 05/01/2026 00:30

All the haters in the comments 🤣 . If their lives are so wonderful they wouldn’t be so concerned about yours. Enjoy your day of rest, I’ll be taking my little one shopping and out for lunch tomorrow. As they have teachers training day .

OP do you not realise that a large majority of people reading this will in fact be going back to work having had very little break at all.

So the OP should be unhappy because you are? Stay home then.

Well fetch me a violin cos I’m feeling pathetic! My fledging goes back to uni tomorrow. My already fledged I probably won’t see again until the summer. So I’ll be living on my own for months.
I’m also housebound atm as disabled. Working from home and freezing my toes! I’m clearly not feeling lighthearted apologies.
I’ve got some Pringles lol I might munch on those whilst working tomorrow!
