Feel a bit mean, but so excited for tomorrow

Dh back to work
Dc back to school

I am the type who normally feels sad holidays are over and kids are back and so on, but this holiday hasn’t been great and I cannot wait for 9 am tomorrow.
I intend to stop at the shop for treats and spend until pick up watching Netflix shows…blissfully alone! (aside from the dogs-who are no trouble)

What does the fact of people working full or part time or whatever have to do with anything?

Im totally bemused at the posters, including OP, falling over themselves to assure the bitter sounding ones that they do in fact work and aren’t a “drain on society”.

I don’t work - so fucking what? Was I not supposed to contribute to the thread? 😂

My post was more aimed at the the people piling on the OP who had confirmed multiple times that she does work and wasn’t gloating or rubbing it in the faces of “the workers”
I genuinely couldn’t care who does work, who doesn’t, who works part time etc. It just winds me up when people don’t read the OP’s posts or make bloody ridiculous assumptions when someone isn’t in work on a Monday morning!

Tdcp · 04/01/2026 21:55

It's Tuesday here . Can't wait.

I am the same! My days off this week are Monday and Tuesday and I will have the house to myself!! I think I will drink Gin and watch Netflix all day 😍

Kizmet1 · 04/01/2026 22:01

I booked annual leave for Tuesday to do almost exactly what you're going to be doing.
I miss my DD so much when she's at nursery after we've had a lovely time together, but equally I am ready for a QUIET day.
She's a yapper, and I'm a yapper too, but I'm all yappered out! 😂
Have a lovely day OP!

Strangecat · 04/01/2026 22:07

Why are people so jealous!? judging OP? pathetic, really!! So many narrow minded people!!
To comment on your post OP, lucky you! Mine go back on Tuesday and I will do exactly like you… nothing! f*k the cleaning, fk the washing, f*k everything! We deserve a peaceful break!

BTW… before all the bitter ones say anything, I run my own business! So, I do what I want!

Ireolu · 04/01/2026 22:11

Inset day tmrw. I'm not free just yet. Will do my little dance on Tuesday..I work end of the week.

ChaliceinWonderland · 04/01/2026 22:11

That sounds dismal. Do you work ? Eating sweets and watching TV?

Jamesblonde2 · 04/01/2026 22:11

Ha glad you’re happy OP with your feet up. The rest of us will go to work and pay tax to keep this country on its feet. Jeez.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 04/01/2026 19:59

So anyone that doesn't work Mon-Fri doesn't work full time?

So my 66h per week Thursday - Tuesday are not full time? Gosh that's good to know.

Ffs part timer 😂 Get to work tomorrow to make random strangers on the Internet happy!

It's amazing how you can post about anything on here... Light-hearted thread about a day off, for example...and still someone will get offended. Any excuse to come out of the woodwork and try to make you feel bad for no reason, such as daring to be glad of having a break. And while they're at it, make a few derogatory and presumptuous comments about stay at home mums and people who don't work. Such miserable little people.

Yep.
Enjoy your day Op.

Have a lovely few hours to yourself @Morewoodonthefire We’re snowed in at the moment so there’s nothing else for it but walking the dogs then thawing out with Netflix!

Some of the bitchy comments on here are outrageous. The OP could be a shift worker for all we know. I’m still trying to work out why having your mortgage paid off and children at private school have anything to do with someone looking forward to having a few hours to relax? 🙄 MN is a very odd place at times.

They're just the usual people who hang out on aibu hoping to stick the boot in and will find any old excuse to do it.
It is pathetic.
If you had the time to do a bit of research i bet you'd find they spend an awful lot of time on here having a dig at anyone, just because. (I can't do the research because I work full time Grin)
You're right though, it really is pathetic.

Huntrix · 04/01/2026 22:19

Aw your plan sounds great OP. I'd happily chill with dogs and treats and TV all day.

I've had a nightmare Christmas break but I have also lived in a lovely little chill bubble with DC and we're all so sad they're going back tomorrow. It's good that I can start to get my affairs in order tomorrow (lots of scary life admin) and catch up on work, but I would love a couple more days/weeks of the lazy mornings, den building and gaming with DC. 😭 But we can't do that all day every day and it is good for them to see their friends and maybe spend less time gaming. 🙈

Sounds fucking great to me. Enjoy your day OP

Taweofterror · 04/01/2026 22:23

Enjoy every minute of it op. I used to work longer hours than I do now but over 4 days so I had Mondays off. Back when my kids were little I'd have been feeling exactly the same.

Now I work a standard mon-fri and have older kids heading back to uni so I'm dreading tomorrow. But I'm glad I made the most of those peaceful Mondays when I had them

Bringyourfoldingchair · 04/01/2026 22:24

My goodness, some right judgey grumps on here. Enjoy your day off OP. I’m back for work :-( .

blankcanvas3 · 04/01/2026 22:24

Some very strange people on this post

Cel77 · 04/01/2026 22:25

I'm looking forward to being alone in the car going to work, LBC on (or Classic FM if I get worked up by the conversa) with my thermos mug of coffee. Bliss...

Leapintothelightning · 04/01/2026 22:28

Some of the replies on here 🤯
I didn’t think it read at all like you didn’t work, I just assumed you happened to be off on a Monday or work shifts!
I’m so excited to get back to routine, these holidays have been relentless! Husband back to work tomorrow so have 2 days with just me and the kids before schools go back on Wednesday. I go back to work on Thursday, youngest starts nursery on Wednesday so I am going to have my first solo day off and I am so excited!

Woodwalk · 04/01/2026 22:33

SqishySqashmas · 04/01/2026 18:06

OP do you not realise that a large majority of people reading this will in fact be going back to work having had very little break at all.

Do you realise a lot of people will read your comment who have not been off work at all!

Everyone's set up is different and OP is allowed to be excited for her free day tomorrow.

Oneforallandallforone · 04/01/2026 22:51

I've had a horrible Christmas and wished daily that the teens were back in school. I cannot wait until tomorrow. Better still they all have something on after school which means they won't be home until after 5pm. I've sadly come to the realisation that I am not cut out to be a parent. I didn't enjoy the toddler, primary or so far the secondary years. I find it emotionally, physically and financially exhausing.
I am tempted to take a day or two off this week just to have some time to myself.

I'm going back to work and still can't wait. I enjoy a break for about a week, then I start craving routine back. I'll be working from home and think I might do a dance when DH leaves for the school run with DD
