To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Twiglets1 · 27/12/2025 20:14

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

Incidentally, anyone on here a supporter of Lucy Connelly?

That took longer than I thought.

I would be very happy not to invest in online gambling companies for example….

Good for you. I'd be happy to trust my pension provider not to bend over backwards to be exclusive.

She was unwise in what she posted, but in a febrile atmosphere, as it was after the Southport stabbings, people were very angry. She shouldn't have been jailed for what she said, a community sentence would have sufficed. She was badly advised and should have pled not guilty. It worked for Ricky Jones didnt it but then hes not a white middle class tory voting woman😬

Well said. Is she even directly comparable to this case? Well apart from not posting continuous racist and homophobic posts. Dogs and monkeys, as we are referred to, I still think we can see hidden agendas.

I'm not a fan of her. I don't think she should be in prison. Equally, I don't think Abd el-Fattah should be in prison for his tweets either. Is that ok? I know you'd like to think we're all out painting roundabouts and hanging flags off lampposts, but that's not quite the case.

You will be happy to know that Lucy Connelly has not been in prison since last August. She served 10 months of a 31 month sentence.

Of course pension providers are going to create products targeted at Muslims as they make up 6.7% of the UK population. By providing "Sharia"* funds NEST are being inclusive not exclusive.

*They are labelled as "Sharia" products but there is nothing that makes them exclusively for Muslims.

If that post was in reference to POC they would be called a disgusting racist who needs jail time. Not ‘but what about Lucy Connolly…’

It didn't come as the least bit surprising. The MO is so familiar. Never anything to add but setting up rabbit holes. Always relating to religion.

They’re not t bending over backwards to be inclusive. They are providing a service for good commercial reasons.

What commercial reasons with such a low per capita of investment?

They won’t answer, they never do. They frantically distract, compare, accuse. It’s why the left is dying a horrible death across the world. Nobody respects them any more or wants to join them.

I don't think anything can be done. I would be astonished if anyone was ever prosecuted for posts made on social media 10-15 years ago. It's not a great situation but we are where we are. Starmer has been made a fool of by this Tory bear trap.

Priti Patel was Home Secretary when he was granted UK citizenship but even though she is currently Shadow Foreign Secretary she is keeping a very low profile. In fact I haven't heard a single peep out of her since this furore erupted.

It's absolutely astonishing that no journalist broke this story until last week. The campaign to release him has been high profile for about five years yet nobody bothered checking this guy's Twitter posts until now.

Ablushingcrow · 01/01/2026 16:15

For those that can't spell the poor hard done by PMs name properly, here it is...

Sir Incompetent Clown Shit for Brains.

EasternStandard · 01/01/2026 16:16

What are they reading that makes them different?

‘Tory bear trap’

Honestly with this. Starmer called on the Egyptian President to lift the ban so el-Fattah could get to the U.K.

It was in his own words a top priority for his government. Why is Starmer so hopeless that he needs people to excuse every decision for him as you have?

No one made him pick up the phone and get the ban lifted.

Fluffyholeysocks · 01/01/2026 16:20

Surely the police will have to visit him at least to 'check his thinking?'

Yeah, everyone else is to blame except the person under debate. I don't know why I got dragged in.
