My dog died today.

not Aibu but I had to have my 4year old gsd euthanised this morning. My heart feels like it’s going to just break in two. I’ve never known pain like it.

So sorry :( that's really sad, made even worse by the fact its Xmas. My dog is 16 now, I'm absolutely dreading the day I need to make that decision.

Oh, I'm so sorry! I had to put my dog down in the summer, it's the worse pain I have ever experienced. It does get better though and you learn to live with it somehow. I'm almost 5 months down the line and I still cry thinking about him, but it no longer happens every day, just most It helped me to get a new dog, but I know a lot of people prefer to wait longer and some people choose not to get another one at all of course.

I, too, am so sorry. I've been there and it is incredibly painful.
I spoke to Pet Bereavement Services and Blue Cross quite a lot. They understand what you're going through, and they were so lovely to me.

That’s devastating. I am so sorry - I can only imagine your pain.

It’s such a horrible pain but it’s the last decision we make for them and you’ve done the right thing for her. I’m very sorry for your loss.

Absolutely heartbreaking. My dog died from cancer in August and I lost my other girl back in 2021 and I think of them both every day. I keep their ashes on my sideboard. It really is painful to lose a beloved pet.
