Husband told my sister to ‘fucking grow up’

I’m stuck in the middle over something which happened last night. Myself and DH met up with my Dsis and her partner for a dinner in a local restaurant.

The service was a bit slow and DH was getting a bit fed up/hangry. When it eventually came out, everything was placed into the middle for us to share out (think Chinese/thai type meal).

DH immediately started serving items on to his plate and my Dsis basically asked him to stop so she could get a video. He asked why and she said so she could upload on her to her social media. He then said the fucking grow up comment and there was an awkward atmosphere.

DH hasn’t apologised and I’ve had a shitty text off Dsis today. Luckily we aren’t spending Christmas together.

I absolutely think DH was in the wrong but he’s protesting his innocence and said having waited long enough for the food to arrive he shouldn’t have been told he couldn’t eat it.

Team dh here. I wouldn't want my food to go cold just so someone could take a video. Entitled much?

Making people wait extra time to eat their food, while it gets cold, is NOT ‘the done thing’, @HusSisargument - it is narcissistic, self centred and downright rude.

She should have been ready to take a photo as soon as the food arrived. Asking him to stop is incredibly rude.

She was being an idiot and quite rightly should grow up. If she were 17 maybe but at 30+ she should know better.

I would have zero time for an adult who expected me to wait (even longer than I already had) to eat food that I had ordered and was going to be paying for just so they could record it for social media.
I might not have been so blunt but I’d have been thinking the same thing. Dsis is behaving like a self-obsessed twat.

She was out of order for expecting him to wait while she videoed. He was out of order for swearing at her. They should both apologise.

How did the rest of the meal go, what was the atmosphere like if this was before you started eating?

I'm sort of with your husband but wouldn't have used that language/tone in those circumstances.

Your sister messaging you to complain about your husband's behaviour is just another sign of her immaturity. Tell her to take it up with him and stop engaging with her about it.

Those that want the video or photos for their socials a 20 second snap or video won’t do. They will want the perfect angle. The right light. No shadows. Otherwise it’s not insta worthy.

I’ve seen these people in restaurants they can do a good 10 minutes snapped the pics doing the videos to get all the shots they want. Basically they are there for the photo op rather than the food.

Yes, there was no way that video was taking 5 seconds to film.
And I doubt this was her first dabble at interrupting activities to film it.
