or am I being dramatic?

Please be honest if im overreacting. Me and my boyfriend have been together officially for 6 weeks, it's going really well. Yesterday we went out for dinner and I drove us back to mine after. On the way back, he rolled down the window and threw his empty drink can out of my car. As soon as he rolled down the window i knew that was what he was going to and asked / begged him not to as I'm the one who's car it is and I don't want someone posting my car all over the local facebook group saying rubbish is being thrown out of it.

Also it gave me the ick. I find it a bit grim that he couldn't wait 10 mins till we got to my house to throw his rubbish away.

I'd get the ick, cant stand litter louts

ThatHazelSnail · 20/12/2025 17:45

That’s such an ick, I would have to end it.

MrDobbs · 20/12/2025 17:49

I don't have any friends that would do this let alone people I would have a relationship with.

catlover123456789 · 20/12/2025 17:55

Get rid. This behaviour will be part of a pattern of disrespect. Tell him why you are ending it and I'd love to know his reaction.

awrbc81 · 20/12/2025 18:05

Yep that would be an absolute no for me, dump!

Toooldtocare25 · 20/12/2025 18:09

Is his car reg PEN 1S
scummy chavvy bellend

Nicho59 · 20/12/2025 18:09

FFS how shallow can you be. He was probably a bit pissed

Daughter1234 · 20/12/2025 18:15

Going to do it and then stopping when you protested and saying yeah that was awful of me .to even consider doing that. Maybe I’d clock it and see how it went for a while if I liked him ( but it would dent my view of him tbh)
Ignoring you begging him not to do it ( even if it wasn’t your car) would absolutely put me off and Î’d also be thinking he wasn’t that bothered about me anyway.

Mackerelfillets · 20/12/2025 18:15

I wouldnt dump him immediately if you get on well but explain its a deal beaker if he does anything like that again. If he gets arsey then end it.

Northerlad · 20/12/2025 18:29

Get rid now

Justbreathagain · 20/12/2025 18:32

Get rid. Awful behaviour and if he does that what else does he do that is anti social. Ew

Lilactimes · 20/12/2025 18:34

absolute idiot and would def dump him before I got too attached. He's got no idea how to behave well x

Tollington · 20/12/2025 18:34

He’s given you a glimpse in to what he’s really like

fatphalange · 20/12/2025 18:37

I can still feel the visceral disgust when, as a 14 year old the lad I was hanging round with at the park just threw his cup on the ground. It really does show complete contempt, so it’s not something I’d tolerate as an adult either. I’d dump him quicker than he dumped his litter.

fatphalange · 20/12/2025 18:40

Nicho59 · 20/12/2025 18:09

Being a pissed up passenger princess doesn’t exactly subtract from this ick.

Flowersforyourchocolateprettyplease · 20/12/2025 18:40

I despise people who litter when they think no one is looking.

To do it whilst with a date he's trying to impress and ignore you when asked not to just shows how selfish he is.

He's shown you who he is.

Lilysu · 20/12/2025 18:44

He thinks it’s ok to litter - dump him

As a passenger, he thinks it’s appropriate to disrespect and argue with the driver’s reasonable request - dump him

He thinks his opinion is more important than yours and wasn’t prepared to hear you out and hang onto his rubbish for the journey home to have a discussion about it when noones driving - dump him.

This “relationship” is going nowhere. Time to go different ways.

BunnyLake · 20/12/2025 18:46

That would be a deal breaker. He has no respect for shared spaces. He’s uncouth and ignorant and deserves the boot. I would not stay with someone who litter bugged.

BunnyLake · 20/12/2025 18:48

Nicho59 · 20/12/2025 18:09

You have him then.

BunnyLake · 20/12/2025 18:49

bicyclecrash · 19/12/2025 17:14

What gets me is that he didn't even need to throw the rubbish immediately. It seemed like he just done it for the thrill of it. No morals

Dump him, he’s a lout.

zestyjane3001 · 20/12/2025 18:50

Would also end relationship. He could also hit someone else’s car doing that. Does he think the road is his rubbish bin?

Rednotdead · 20/12/2025 19:48

Do you really want to be in a relationship with a yob?

cantbearsed27 · 20/12/2025 19:58

Revels in being a twat? Definitely not boyfriend material.

MyPeppyTurtle · 20/12/2025 20:33

He's an idiot, sorry, but he didn't respect what you said, and who throws litter out of the car like that anyway....

Northerlad · 20/12/2025 20:35

Get rid now
