Dry robe? Are they worth it ?

Are they really worth the hype please? I need
s good waterproof and have seen them out and about but are they good. Thanks

They are fantastic if you're getting changed from swimming in the sea, rivers or lakes. Not great for walking in the rain though, the bottoms get wet at the back and take ages to dry.

Depends what you want it for. There are also lots of cheaper versions like Osprey or Gorilla Robe.

Lots of DS's rugby team parents wear them for spectating. I prefer a big, warm, furry parka.

Get a Didrikson instead. They’re actually designed as rainwear which DryRobes aren’t.

If you are doing anything outdoors where you are going to get wet (oh er missus) such as swimming, paddleboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, etc. they're very good but there are better waterproofs if you need protection from the rain/cold.

If you need a dryrobe, that’s what you need. But if you need a raincoat, no.

I'm a Pony mum, so I have the Equidry. Everyone on my yard loved it so much that we all have one now. My ten year old also has one and its the best bit of waterproof kit I own. Worth every penny

I've had mine for 3 winters and love it for dog walking - I don't wear it as a 'main coat' unless the weather is awful as it does look a bit ridiculous, but it's perfect for wet walking. Keeps me 100% dry and dries very quickly. slight downside being that the hood is very wide/gapes open so if it's windy and wet it can be a pain.

Ignore people who try and tell you that unless you're doing Olympic level wild swimming you don't need one. Dry robes and the like are super popular - how many of those people do you think use it purely as a changing robe really??

They're probably just grumpy because they're cold and wet..

I wear mine for dog walking and it’s great- like wearing a massive waterproof duvet. Definitely unflattering and lots of people like to take the piss out of Dryrobes but I don’t mind that at all because I’m warm and dry.

They are great for their intended purpose of changing into after going swimming for example.
But as a substitute for a raincoat they are terrible and look hideous. People do not look good in the walking about day to day.

I went into Wetherspoons the other day for breakfast. 11am. Middle aged man in there wearing shorts, camo dry robe, playing the fruit machine with 2 pints of lager lined up. Strong look.

💯 best thing I bought in years! My third autumn/ winter in it and still great quality. It is also temperature intelligent adapting so you never over heat or are cold in it. And very stylish dressed up (with leather high heeled boots à la Rihanna style) or dressed down.

I have a passenger version of the Dry robe and love it for when I’ve been paddle boarding but don’t think it would be good for general raincoat. It is very warm and snuggly though!

I think it’s mad to sell something that you find useful just because a very bored person has made a FB group taking the piss out of it. I recommend not giving a shit about what other people think of your clothes- it’s very liberating.

DH and I sea swim all year. He has a dryrobe branded one and I have a regatta. His is heavier, slightly warmer but more expensive than mine. They are very large and loose, so can be tricky to see your feet if walking on say uneven ground. They are loose, as meant to be used to changed clothes underneath. Some brands do make a slimmer version which might suit if you aren't using it change under.

We too only use them to/from the sea- wouldn't wear it to the shops/cafes or anywhere else.

I have one for cold-water swimming so I can change under it but I couldn't just wear it out and about as I find the size of it so annoying!

They are so utterly hideous and frumpy. Depends on the purpose though.

My daughter has one but we live by the sea. I wouldn’t recommend them for normal wear, especially if you’re not by the sea or coming from the swimming pool

I don't have one but i see people out in them round here (loooong way from the sea!) and are a bit envious on days like today !

We live on the coast and a DryRobe is really worth having, for changing after paddleboarding, surfing, swimming. If you are just buying it as a raincoat, think again.

I have a cheap Dryrobe knock-off but it is fluffy on the inside and long and keeps me dry so I love it for dog walking in the horrible rain. I have other coats for town or other outings but the duvet coat as it's known in my house is great for fields and beaches in the lashing rain.

I've had "proper" waterproof clothes including trousers and coats.. They do work but are a faff to get on and off. The duvet coat just flings on over the top of my normal clothes in a moment.

Can you recommend any plz

I have a dry robe and a saltrock one. Both great. Perfect for school runs and swimming
