Yeah so much judging.

I wore mine at Alton Towers as my daughter was cold so I lent her my coat. I keep mine in the back of the car (for swimming!) and decided it was a fair substitute.

lovely photo of my arse getting on Thirteen on that Facebook group later that day 😞

Weird thing was my Facebook showed me ‘here’s a group you might like’. Wtf - obviously listening to me.

anyway that was a strange day on the internet!

BettysRoasties · 18/12/2025 22:27

If your using it for its purpose because you do lots of out door water activities sure.

If you are going to wear it around Homebargains nowhere near a body of water then yeah expect to be called a drw

Crwysmam · 18/12/2025 22:31

Since their popularity / fashion status has risen they are slightly more preferable to the fluffy dressing gowns everyone used to wear to go to the supermarket. Essentially they are an outdoor bathrobe that covers more of the body. As a waterproof, meh! ( a direct quote from my 21 yr old.

Ohnobackagain · 18/12/2025 22:39

I tried on lots of different brands @TheOpalFox and ended up with a ‘two bare feet’ one. Very pleased. They are on Amazon.

ThePoliteLion · 18/12/2025 22:40

Looks rather ridiculous in Waitrose at 9am on Monday. But fine for actual swimming to and from.

lochmaree · 18/12/2025 22:44

I have a two barefeet one. Use it for going out and about in horrible weather. I don't care what I look like 😂 mine is waterproof.

Ablondiebutagoody · 18/12/2025 13:43

I went into Wetherspoons the other day for breakfast. 11am. Middle aged man in there wearing shorts, camo dry robe, playing the fruit machine with 2 pints of lager lined up. Strong look.

😂😂😂

BeWiseTurtle · 18/12/2025 23:14

I have a twobarefeet one, it’s waterproof. I use it for watching outdoor sports and it’s like being wrapped up in a big waterproof blanket.

I only tend to swim in the sea in summer so haven’t needed it for that purpose, but I imagine it would work well if you were swimming off a boat on a windy day, or in colder weather

I defo don’t care what people think of me wearing it, I’ve tried many different coats and none keep me this warm. I’m not going to stand there freezing because someone thinks my coat looks ridiculous.

Meadowlands · 18/12/2025 23:23

Can anyone recommend any TRULY waterproof trousers to go underneath. All my previous "waterproof"ones have been anything but...

Wellies? Then you’re truly waterproof?

Sickoffamilydrama · 18/12/2025 22:21

Beat me to it, I have one too live as far away from the sea as possible in the UK.

Bought one last year I did load of research before buying and while didriksons are great they weren't quite as long as these and less pockets.

These are kind of a slightly tailored but still massive and loads of pockets did I mention the pockets Wink

I use mine for dog walking, watching DD playing Rugby and DS football. Great for sideways rain has a wired hood and room for layers underneath.

I'll probably be a dry robe wanker that travels and use it when I go away to a rainy possibly snowy city break in January so many coats promise dry and don't deliver.

Yes the pockets are fab!! ❤️ All with zips so you can secure keys and phone properly.

blankcanvas3 · 18/12/2025 22:12

I judge anybody wearing a dry robe as a coat

How do you know though? I was in a supermarket in Bolton, which isn’t closely associated with the sea Grin wearing one
but I had just been swimming in a reservoir and stopped off to get a sandwich

Silverbirchleaf · 19/12/2025 07:52

What do you want it for? A decent waterproof coat will do the trick, and is more stylish. Look at places like Seasalt, or Craghopper, Wolfskin etc if you want something for walking, the outdoors, watching football etc.

Go to an outdoor shop and get ones which are designated ‘waterproof’ and not ‘showerproof’. There’s a difference.

Nice!

I personally couldn’t care less what jacket or coat someone was wearing, I don’t know where they are going or where they have been.

i have one, I work in an outdoor nursery in Scotland. It’s bloody freezing temperatures at times and I can layer up underneath it and keep warm, I sometimes still have it on when I go to Tesco after work . Judge me all you like!

SkankingWombat · 19/12/2025 08:04

DCs have the Regatta version for swimming. They are perfect for travelling to and from practice - only their costumes on underneath on the way there and just pants on the way home, so cuts down on changing time - and for wearing at meets over their race suit between races to keep warm. They love them but wouldn't wear them elsewhere as they are too bulky, not fully waterproof and the big hoods keeo blowing back in the wind. They offer good wind protection generally, however, and the pockets are so deep they've struggled to find things dropped into them on occasion!

Meadowlands · 19/12/2025 08:05

@ThePoetsWife Thanks , I do wear wellies but it is the annoying gap between the bottom of robe and top of wellies that always gets soaked through the trousers.

Devuelta81 · 19/12/2025 08:20

I live near the coast so lots of people have them for their intended purpose but also wear them on a rainy school run. Maybe some people think they look ridiculous, but who cares? Agree, it is liberating when you don't care what people think (and warm and dry!) I also wear Uggs (not in the rain) and IDGAF ☺️

Devuelta81 · 19/12/2025 08:22

And frankly, anyone who spends their spare time making Facebook groups to mock other people's clothing choice is the true wanker

ccquad · 19/12/2025 08:23

Mine is my first choice for wet wheelchair dog walks. I even managed to get a short sleeve version which is perfect for me as a quadruple amputee.

museumum · 19/12/2025 08:33

I bought mine for after running and cycling mainly. It’s perfect for throwing on top of other clothes and keeping the car seats clean and dry. I have taken it to rugby but even where I live (cold part of Scotland) it’s too hot and bulky for any kind of walking.

HerVagestyTheQueef · 19/12/2025 08:35

I’m getting one for Christmas! Wasn’t sure about the cost so getting a 2nd hand one. Still pricey!

I do swim in the sea year round, but will probably wear it at other times too.

Can’t stand the stupid pathetic people who judge or mock others’ clothing choices (Wankers? Really?) so I’m more than happy to piss these people off by wearing my new DR wherever the heck I like 🙂

Idontjetwashthefucker · 18/12/2025 13:41

If you want to appear on the FB dryrobe wankers group, go for it. I sold mine becuase of that group

Why would you care about a site full of photos posted by idiots?

LeedsLoiner · 19/12/2025 08:37

Laiste · 18/12/2025 14:05

This made me laugh!

Very honest of you. Why though - is a person in a dry robe a wanker?

I don't have one but i see people out in them round here (loooong way from the sea!) and are a bit envious on days like today !

Go onto YouTube and look up “Dryrobe” by Goldie Looking Chain…
