I’ve become a regular public loo

PinkScot · 12/12/2025 15:47

Last week a female Amazon driver asked to use my loo and of course I said yes, she said she was desperate and explained it was difficult to find a loo on a route. I must admit although I said yes I did feel quite uncomfortable as she was a stranger but obviously wanted to help. Now today she’s asked me for the third time. I was having a bad day anyway but I did say do you have nowhere else to go but here? I kind of feel I’m just going to get asked every time she comes now because I helped her out and I hadn’t signed up to be the public convenience!

I feel bad for feeling this way but it makes me feel queasy. I can’t explain why I feel taken advantage of…anyone else had repeat toilet users?

Don't let this continue. You will get a reputation for being able to use your loo.

Think about it OP. There must be umpteen places they can stop and go. From pubs, to Macdonald's and similar, hotels even. Supermarkets.

Nobody would be using my loo. You have to say no.

There are none of those things near me.

momager1 · 12/12/2025 19:18

Ladies... if you drive alot.. and not always able to find a toilet...SHE WEE is your answer. It saved me several times thru covid, and still has a place (cleaned and sanitized after the usage ) in my car as part of our emergency kit.. not like us ladies can just whip it out behind a tree lol

@BillieWiperHow to say you don't live in a rural area without saying that you don't live in a rural area!

Haha. Yeah, busted. I'd hope there would at least be a pub or coffee shop somewhere along the route?! But maybe I am being extensively naive!

They really should consider making big delivery firms contribute towards putting public loos in isolated areas. They could have branding on them and even make non delivery drivers pay a small fee to cover the upkeep? Drivers from all courier firms could access it using a code.

andanotherproblem · 12/12/2025 19:24

I do t understand the issue, kindness costs nothing and she isn’t exactly putting you out for a quick trip to the toilet. If it was you or your daughter wouldn’t you want someone to let you use theirs. Also you probably feel safe to her.

Charliede1182 · 12/12/2025 19:26

I wouldn't have a problem either, it is really difficult for delivery personnel especially females to find somewhere to pee, and they are sanctioned for deviating from their route which can be a considerable distance to find somewhere with a public toilet.

Winterwonderwhy · 12/12/2025 19:27

Redpeach · 12/12/2025 15:53

Go to the shops?

Why should she?

covilha · 12/12/2025 19:29

There are doubtless many good reasons why the OP needs to use Amazon three times in one week. And to be fair that wasn’t the point of her post.
I think I would be suspicious that she had asked to come in three times. It gives her too much of an opportunity to check out your Home if her intentions are beyond the lavatorial

Delphiniumandlupins · 12/12/2025 19:31

Well it might be a small price to pay for prompt deliveries. I doubt she's taking time out of her busy schedule if she doesn't need to.

MrsJeanLuc · 12/12/2025 19:34

Springflowersyay · 12/12/2025 15:51

Poor woman…… I pee’d in bushes a lot when I was doing amazon delivery, but luckily it was mainly in the countryside…..

Seriously?!? You couldn't pull into a supermarket or a petrol station?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 12/12/2025 19:36

Yanbu, she is weird

Once, fair enough but 3 times 😭😭

And the thing is, you have to see her! I'd just say next time, oh sorry its needing repair, i'm waiting on a plumber!

TonyTheImpala · 12/12/2025 19:38

JustMerelyHere · 12/12/2025 18:28

Are you always so helpful?

Unfortunately, yes, some names are recognisable for being consistently ‘helpful.’

Huntrix · 12/12/2025 19:39

I'd let them use the loo if they were a normal person and didn't have a weird vibe, especially a woman. I let the Tesco guy use the loo the other day and he was so grateful. He didn't ask to, but he was just asking where the nearest supermarket was as he needed the loo, and I started directing him but then felt silly because there was a toilet right behind me. I told him he could come in and it was funny because we were both a bit confused and surprised, like "are we allowed to do this?" 😆 He was a nice guy though and I had chatted to him a fair bit before so I felt safe. If it was a creepy person I would have said no.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that because she was in the countryside there wasn’t a supermarket. I’m thinking she doesn’t prefer peeing in hedgerows.

If my daughter had ro use the same random house toilet 3 times i would suggest she goes to the doctor and leave the person alone

Winterwonderwhy · 12/12/2025 19:57

I wouldn’t let a male do that so I also wouldn’t allow a female either. If she works in the countryside then she has to figure that out for herself. Surely she knows she needs the toilet on a job that doesn’t provide it. What is the solution that she has come up with? If the op didn’t allow it then what would she do?

Paul2023 · 12/12/2025 19:59

The gas man has used my loo when working on ny boiler. Painters and tradesmen have used my loo when doing work.

But never had a random delivery driver use it.

I would let someone as a one off but this driver could be you’re regular driver new driver and expect you to be her toilet break stop, permanently.

I wouldn’t want this to be permanent thing to be honest with you.

SnoopyPajamas · 12/12/2025 20:03

This whole situation is so stressful and dehumanising, especially for women.

Loloj · 12/12/2025 20:08

I wouldn’t mind - as long as she left it clean and tidy. Hated having workmen in who would piss all over and leave the toilet seat up.

Soashamed60 · 12/12/2025 20:09

My son delivered for Morrisons & they were told that they weren't allowed to use customers loos or even go into their houses, so I'm surprised at Tesco, Waitrose etc allowing delivery drivers to do this.

PorridgeEater · 12/12/2025 20:11

You can get female urinal bottles - not expensive.

Paul2023 · 12/12/2025 20:13

I was a bus driver previously in London. Toilets could be an issue but on most routes there were bus terminals or toilets somewhere.

When I drives buses outside London in a rural location , particularly at night it was different situation.

Lots of public toilets have closed thanks to council cut backs.

Unfortunately no one really gives a shit ( pardon the pun) about bus drivers having no toilet facilities and I dare say it’s the same for truck drivers and deliver drivers.

It should be law that public toilets should be accessible for people. I know everything has a cost but surely toilets is a human right? Not to mention health and safety at work.

The reason I left bus driving, fed up of working in an industry that treats you like a second class citizen.

Barnestine · 12/12/2025 20:13

Jeez, does it matter! Just clean it with a bathroom spray. Unless you’re immunocompromised of course.

Calliopespa · 12/12/2025 20:18

I wouldn't like it either op, but, like you, I think I'd have relented the first time because I do think they have a tricky job. It must be stressful having the time pressure they do, so I think your first "yes" was the right thing to do.

BUt the problem is she has started taking advantage of your kindness.

I sense you don't like confrontation, and I hope your comment about "is there nowhere else" has made her cotton on that she shouldn't keep relying on you.

But if not, I like the suggestion of pps to nominate a safe place and don't answer the door to Amazon.

I think people probably all feel differently about whether it matters. I can imagine if I had a busy house of four teens all in and out with their friends, I'd barely notice. But if you are at home alone it could feel quite intrusive.

Can you? Do they manage to catch it all and could you use them while sitting in a car?

Asking for a friend, just so you know. Nothing to do with an upcoming drive to Cornwall.
