Fed up with men not being held to the same standards re. aging

I’ve just given my DH an earful watching I’m a celebrity. He commented on one of the female cast - ‘younger me knocked many a one out over her in the page 3 days’ followed by ‘she has let herself go now though so I don’t think I’d be repeating those days’.

Why is it so accepted that men will age and it’s to be expected they’ll be grey etc, but women have to face such negativity/criticism?

Surely the bigger issue is that your husband is a complete pig?

I don't think women are any keener on the pot bellied wrinkly Mr Potato Head look either tbf. Its just that unlike men like your husband we don't labour under the delusion that our opinions on the appearance of the opposite sex need always be shared.

I mean it's hardly news is it? Twas ever thus that aging male actors would be cast alongside very young women and still given a leading man role long after the age a woman would be similarly cast as a love interest.

My DH neither thinks nor behaves like yours.
We are also in our 60s. DH isn't very grey, overweight or badly dressed. Neither am I, although I colour my hair.

No, she was a lingerie model. A photographer friend of mine says she is the most beautiful woman he's ever seen in person and photos don't capture her properly. Can well believe it, the woman is insane levels of stunning.

I think you (and some other posters on here) are quite naive if you think that no man in your life/no man you have ever known, has ever spoken like the OP's husband. I'm not condoning it, but it's laughable to suggest that no man you know/have ever known has ever spoken like this. Unfortunately I do think men often age rather better than women, I guess a bit craggy and grey can still look quite attractive. But a lot of men do just get old, bald and paunchy. Nothing to do about it though we all get older, the alternative is worse as one of my aunties used to say.
