DC has reinstated Netflix twice

I cancelled netflix in Sept due to needing to save money and the quality of what was on offer for kids. We also have Disney so really don't need both.

DD (who has suspected ADHD and breaks many rules) has managed to reinstate it not just once but TWICE. It happened because my Netflix password was saved on the TV.

I have just spoken to them and they have refunded for Oct but not for Sept because the account has been used - yeah, no shit sherlock.

A little bit of googling has revealed that this is a common problem. Aibu in thinking Netflix need to sort this our before thie theivery via kids strategy damages their reputation.

Surely there should be some kind of verification process before a streaming service can be purchased directly through a TV?

Why don't you just change the account password? Quite simple...

Phunkychicken · 26/10/2025 19:26

Surely you just change the password online (ie not on the TV) so if he tries again it would fail verification?

Finsburyfancy · 26/10/2025 19:26

Cancel, remove the payment method and change the password

Woahtherehoney · 26/10/2025 19:27

Really can’t see how this is the fault of Netflix to be honest!

BendingSpoons · 26/10/2025 19:34

Netflix want to make it easy for people to subscribe again. It's not dissimilar from Amazon Prime and other places where it's easy to pay for things without extra checks.

I understand your frustration, but when it happened once, you really needed to find a solution your end. You can't really expect them to refund something you have used.

This is what I've done now. The account has gone.

Why didn’t you change the password the first time?
It’s your job to manage this, it’s not Netflix fault.

Why didn't you do it after the first time?

Jellybunny56 · 26/10/2025 19:37

Imagine thinking this is Netflix’s fault rather than yours/your child’s. 🤣

This 😂. Especially when you allow it to happen twice and took none of the very simple steps to prevent it happening.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/10/2025 19:40

You are not seriously blaming Netflix for what is clearly a parenting/child issue? Oh come on.

OnlyOnAFriday · 26/10/2025 19:41

Have you got virgin or sky? Because they both include Netflix now so if you’re out of contract you could renegotiate? I just got £60 off my monthly bill and Free Netflix.

BingBongBish · 26/10/2025 19:42

'Sign out of Netflix' is one of the listed options when you log in.

Teacup40 · 26/10/2025 19:44

This happened to me last month with dd, it's easy done! Found a few things I did actually want to watch tho so wasn't too bad! Just change the password then it can't happen again!

The very epitome of everything that’s wrong with society. Always someone else’s fault rather than yours for failing to adult effectively 🙄

Skippingxaway · 26/10/2025 20:00

I dont have netflixs i dont think its worth the money never anything on it.
My sister had it she felt the same as me.
Now watch anything and everything on westream and its free no adds.

LovelyBitOfSquirrrel · 26/10/2025 20:00

I see some half assed parenting on here but blaming Netflix is a new low.

It happened TWICE.

TY78910 · 26/10/2025 20:04

Sorry no. It’s not Netflix’s responsibility to keep an eye on your kids.

Change your password, don’t store your card details, set up two factor authentication. Take ownership of your own stuff. The tools are there so use them.

LousyGolfer · 26/10/2025 20:07

No, Netflix isn’t to blame for your poor parenting.

Apologies for the multiple posts. The app crashed as I hit “post” and went berserk.
