So apparently I’m obese according to the NHS website. I definitely have a belly but I don’t feel obese! What do you think? I’m worried I’m deluded!

Can't see photo - maybe it still has to be approved.

Owly11 · 23/10/2025 21:44

What is your height and weight? You don't look obese, no.

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 23/10/2025 21:44

Your dogs 🥰

Becky028 · 23/10/2025 21:44

Oh now i can see it. No you don't look obese.

NuffSaidSam · 23/10/2025 21:45

It's not the clearest picture, but no I wouldn't look at that and think you're obese.

Pieceofpurplesky · 23/10/2025 21:45

You look fab. You also have gorgeous dogs. Sod what the website says!

Bobbedhairdontcare · 23/10/2025 21:46

Absolutely not.

FestiveDiscoBall · 23/10/2025 21:46

It’s a hard pic to tell from. But ultimately it’s medical classification rather than a feeling, so if that what the numbers are saying then yes you are.

Tiebiter · 23/10/2025 21:47

It's hard to see your belly..side on would be possibly more truthful.

I wouldn't worry what you look like though, bmi is generally a good indicator unless you are a peak athlete so I'd assume it is accurate in saying that for your height you are too heavy.

SpunkyKoala · 23/10/2025 21:47

You don’t look obese bit you look like you carry any excess around your middle which is a risk factor for heart disease, hypertension and diabetes

letmehaveathink · 23/10/2025 21:47

I’m 5ft 3 and 11 stone 4 pounds. I know I’m a bit heavy, but fuck me, obese seems harsh! But I don’t know if I’m deluded

StasisMom · 23/10/2025 21:47

Lovely pooches! No, you don’t look obese.

Titasaducksarse · 23/10/2025 21:48

It's a tough one but if you've a big belly then yes. Just read your height and weight...sorry but yes you're obese.
Nb...im only just out of the obese category so I empathise

tartyflette · 23/10/2025 21:48

No, definitely not obese. Carrying a little extra around the middle, perhaps? (Like many of us, including me. Except I have rather more than a little extra.)

SpunkyKoala · 23/10/2025 21:49

I think bmi has been discredited now hasn’t it - I thought it had been replaced by the body roundness index

WhichBigToe · 23/10/2025 21:51

I just put your figures into NHS BMI calculator. It said 28 which is overweight but not obese. I think your figure looks totally normal. A little bit of weight to lose to get to the healthy range but totally doable.

3luckystars · 23/10/2025 21:52

I’m useless at these types of things but I know my sister was your weight and height but was way bigger than you look in that photo.

You don’t look obese to me (in that photo)

Freebus · 23/10/2025 21:52

You look similar to me in body shape, probably the same BMI. So I'm going to say no. I'm about an inch shorter than you. I don't weigh myself so don't really know my weight.

Summerhillsquare · 23/10/2025 21:52

I looked like this when obese I'm afraid, though I had a fat neck and upper arms as well.

SumUp · 23/10/2025 21:53

You look ok to me, but it’s hard to tell from a photo. BMI is often not accurate.

How do you feel in yourself? Do you have reasonably good energy, sleep ok, eat fairly well, move around? Your wellbeing is the most important thing.

Icanttakethisanymore · 23/10/2025 21:54

In the nicest possible way, it really doesn’t matter whether you or anyone else thinks you look obese (FWIW I wouldn’t have thought you were obese looking at that picture either). If you are, you are and you’ll be at increased risk of various health conditions due to your weight. That’s probably the thing to focus on.

OSTMusTisNT · 23/10/2025 21:54

It's a medical term though not what you look like.

You look great btw but the NHS are looking at statistics that mean you are more likely to develop diabetes etc.

wizzywig · 23/10/2025 21:55

Im same height and at 59 kgs/9 st 3 im overweight as Im asian. So yeah I'm guessing that is obese as I think you are white
