Things you wouldn't admit to in real life

Light hearted. I dislike my mum's boyfriend. I am sick of his constant grunting when i ask him a question. It is like he is incapable of saying yes or no to a simple question. He is a terrible bus driver. He drives like he is on a race track.

@GarlicPound Not really . Widow as it would be easier than divorce. I intend to pay brother back but waiting to see how much I have left. Uncle had all sorts of distant relatives in will that hadn't bothered with him in years , told him he was under no obligation and could leave his money to whoever he chose to. Jealous of my friends ' happy home life . Their problems are more than I can cope with and I don't feel the support works both ways.
Anyway , this was supposed to be things you wouldn't say anywhere else and it feels good to admit it .

i changed my job because we ended up with a POTS clinic….all young young woman…and I hated treating them. I didn’t trust them and felt I had to be so very very careful every single thing I said and did.

What do you mean? Do you mean you thought they where faking pots, because you can't fake pots its postural tachycardia so you stand up your heart rate shoots up you can't fake that. You can see it on a monitor and a tilt table test

Me too. I dont mind small discreet ones but these full arm, leg, neck ones look awful. Especially on women and especially on saggy skin. In my elderly neighbours words "tattoos were meant for sailors and prostitutes. What do they think they look like" 🤣🤣

I am not a fan of massive tattoos. Sleeves, down the leg, under the boobs (when wearing bikini tops) back. The worst areas for tattoos imo are face and front of neck.

Don't mind the little discreet ones. A friend has one of an oak leaf with Dad in the middle. As his surname is Oakley and friends and family called him the Big Oak. Probably the size of a £1 coin.

I have accumulated an incredibly large amount of money in shares over the past 30 years. No one knows how much, even my DP.

How much? We are anon!!

Andprettygood · 15/10/2025 14:58

Do you have a will @Keepinmovin ?

Are there lots of people in your life that you tell them what you really think of them but dress it up as sarcasm? @youalright .

Edited

I wouldn't say I dislike a lot of people. But for e.g. if I walk into work and say morning knobheads are you lazy fuckers going to do anything today everyone thinks I'm joking i am with some people others I am not.

I don’t like receiving flowers. I’ve never told anyone, as lots of people have bought them for me over the years and it’s a very kind gesture. But I don’t like them.

Agree! It's the faff of having to find a suitable vase (which is inevitably at the back of a cupboard or in a high cupboard so I have to get the step ladder out) arrange them artfully, having to remember to keep topping up the water, and trying to find somewhere to put them where my cat won't knock them over/start trying to eat them.

Sometimes when I’m home alone and both DD and DP are working/doing something else I order my favourite takeaway, watch something I like and dispose of the evidence.

Then I act like “no, I haven’t had any Chinese this month, what a great idea, let’s order”.
😇

I do this too. Hehehehe

Sounds a bit depressing
for you
to have these kind of barbed exchanges so frequently

can’t remember the last time I wanted to tell someone what I really thought of them and it being something negative. Let alone wanting to do it in a sarcastic barbed way.

Weight loss is down to calories in versus calories out.

Yeah but poo = calories out too. Are we expecting people to burn their poo in a calorimeter?

longlocks · 15/10/2025 15:05

About 7 years ago, a man in his early 20s lived around the corner, raped an elderly woman in her flat. He got about 15 years prison sentence. About 2 weeks after his sentencing, his mother happened to be in the supermarket at the same time as me and she bragged of how proud she is of her DS.

I was so tempted to say to her - What sort of mother are you for being so proud of your DS raping an elderly lady that lost her independence due to his actions? Her other children are younger daughters.

TattooStan · 15/10/2025 15:05

I get botox and don't tell anyone, including my husband. I tell him I'm going for a facial!

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 15/10/2025 15:06

Yep, me too @SunshineAndFizz @JohnTheRevelator . Hate being given flowers, can't be faffed keeping the cats away from them. I love flowers growing in a garden or a meadow, just not cut and standing in a vase inside my house.

Neither do I. They do nothing for me.

Thatsalineallright · 15/10/2025 15:10

I think lots of parents are pretty mediocre and judge them for not picking up a parenting book, watching a YouTube video on child development or something. We don't just wing it in other jobs, why do people wing it for arguably the most important role they will ever have?

And no, love is not enough. You can love your children and still be failing miserably at meeting their needs.

What’s great? Having people in life that you don’t seem to really like and tell them what you really “think of them” by being sarcastic?

Tattoos are so tacky. I'm almost instantly put off someone if I see they have one or many.

I ponder that - were me and my partner to split up and I were to start dating again - I would have a "no tatts" rule, and take great pleasure in meeting people otherwise incredibly attractive and just taking one look and saying "no, I don't date people with tattoos, sorry" and walking out immediately.

I don't like bagpipes.

Have you heard the definition of a Scottish gentleman, @TwinklyFawn - one who can play the bagpipes - but doesn’t!

AgDulAmach · 15/10/2025 15:17

Having worked in an area where I talk to a lot of people, hear about their issues, etc I would say that people face obstacles and get blindsided by life events, but often the main problem people have is themselves. Two people impacted by the same situation can have totally different outcomes and it depends largely on how they handle the situation. People who realise that become somewhat invincible - but it's a tough thing to really grasp because it takes away most excuses and rests responsibility for your life firmly on your shoulders.

The main issue I see is people lying to themselves, particularly making out that they're chasing a particular goal while doing little or nothing to make it happen. A good example is people who complain they don't have any friends but who refuse to do what it takes to make friends. Why complain? Either accept you're not going to make friends and shut up or solve the bloody problem!

You could let HMRC know he’s a benefit scrounging fraud. Anonymously. I’m sure most tax payers would agree we hate paying for parasites like him to leech off us.

Reminds me of a Head of Department, when I was still at the chalkface, being off for months with a 'bad back', I overheard a couple of Year 11 pupils talking, one wondered when he would be back and the other said He's finished his new garage so he'll be back soon!

I secretly consider that mental health has become the bad back for many people!

Many excellent parents managed perfectly without constant references to books, Youtube and so on, they relied on their common sense and were not slaves to the opinions of others!

Dollymylove · 15/10/2025 15:20

@Accipe you've hit the nail on the head. Mental health is the 21st century's bad back 😉

Why eat bogies? Chewy, salty, crispy / what’s not to like.

plus why get up for a snack when it’s available in your own nose larder.

God, out the hanky of just off your finger, or both? Like do you blow your nose then eat it off the hanky?
