To bloody love a bath

It's my favourite leisure activity atm, even more than sleeping (which is usually my favourite).

I can lay back, relax in the hot water, listen to music or browse the web on my phone, read a book, have a glass of wine, take care of myself in a calm way eg shave, exfoliate, wash my hair (not all at once obvs 😆)

Best thing is, ALONE TIME, my kids are now old enough not to want to join me in the bath every single time! 🍾🍾🛁🛁

Honestly, same.

ThePieceHall · 12/10/2025 17:28

Agreed. The last 18 months have been the very worst of my middle-aged life. I credit bath ‘therapy’ with saving my life. I lie with my ears immersed so I can hear the pad-am, pad-am. Maybe it’s a throwback to being in the womb?! I have discovered that my favourite bath products are the Aromatherapy Associates bath oils.

DonewhatIcando · 12/10/2025 17:29

Same, except I don't have a bath now, got a walk-in shower.
I currently have flu and my back is killing me, I'd love a bath right now

Forestfire12345 · 12/10/2025 17:30

Mother of Christ no! It's too hot, then it's too cold, you can't hold a book with wet fingers. You come out feeling filthy ..aaarghh my absolute nightmare 🙃

DappledThings · 12/10/2025 17:34

Baths are great. I never understand people taking one out to just have a walk-in shower. Vastly improved since having DC and buying a bath thermometer so now I can actually run it to the temperature I want without having to guess.

But you lie in it, you don't lay in it. Unless you are a chicken doing your daily egg production.

Treetop111 · 12/10/2025 17:35

I’ve never quite understood the bath obsession that some appear to have. I bought my current house 18 years ago and have never used the bath once.

Baths just feel like they offer a poor effort to benefit ratio. I doubt I’ll ever have one ever again.

MYOB12 · 12/10/2025 17:39

I have a hot bath every evening! Work in a job involving a lot of heavy lifting so a good soak of the muscles makes a difference. Also helps me to sleep. Often take a glass of wine or bottle of beer in with me!

SueSheeMee · 12/10/2025 17:39

I hate a bath. They take ages to run. Then they're too hot for 5 minutes and then too cold. Then I get bored. Then I get out.

We've been in this house for 16 years, I reckon I've only had 20 baths in that time and they were for leg shaving purposes only (I usually epilate or don't bother) and it must be at least 5 years since anyone last had one. We're all shower people (DH - never had a single bath in this house, DS18 and DD15).

CMOTDibbler · 12/10/2025 17:39

A bath is my happy place. Kindle so that you can hold it with one hand and the steam doesn't affect it, bath snacks and a mug of tea, hot water boosted so I can top up as I like and it is perfect.

Mama2many73 · 12/10/2025 17:40

Currently luxuriating in mine! It's big, deep and full of bubbles. Bath time is MY time! DH and DS (15) Are asked if they need in for the loo, cos once in, I'm not getting out!

Door is locked, no one can come in!

I grew up in a house with 1 bathroom for 6 people. Bathroom was the ONLY private time and it has remained so. (Stll only one bathroom!)

Why would you come out feeling filthy? Are you a coal miner?

Do you work down a mine?

I love a bath, but as our reservoirs are only at 50% I'm sticking with showers for now.

Spidey66 · 12/10/2025 17:47

No. Shower all the time for me.

DreamyTealGuide · 12/10/2025 17:47

Even with a book, I am so bored in a bath, while I could spend 1 hour in the shower 😂

Your happy place is hurting no one, enjoy your baths, you should have them every day. It's such a small thing, if it makes you happy, why wouldn't you.

grafittiartist · 12/10/2025 17:48

I’d hate not to have one in the house. Sometimes it’s exactly what you need. Love em.

I do shower after a bath, I need clear water to feel I've rinsed out the bubble bath. I can't wash my hair in the bath either.

ForZanyAquaViewer · 12/10/2025 17:50

I detest them. They make me feel…sweaty, somehow? Also, bored. And like I’m stewing in my own juices.

I have a luxury walk in shower that I adore. Bloody love a long hot shower with good water pressure. Joyous.

DeanStockwelll · 12/10/2025 17:51

I love my bath , I spend far to long in there and often fall asleep .
I don't have a shower but if I did I'd probably only use it if I was in a real rush

I have found my shower people on this thread!

I would also ideally never have a bath again.

Kitchenbattle · 12/10/2025 17:54

Yes yes yes! Love a bath!! My favourite thing to do! 😂

Evaka · 12/10/2025 17:56

Adore my bath. Saved my sanity in the pandemic, felt like the only enjoyable milestone in the day at times.

For those who feel they're dirty, how manky are you going in?!

Fizbosshoes · 12/10/2025 17:56

I love a bath, I maybe have 1 a week, or every 10 days. Especially if I've done a long run, its nice to have a bath.

I didnt realise until I joined MN, that some people are squeamish about them or feel they are unclean 🤷‍♀️ (as opposed to simply preferring showers)

RaraRachael · 12/10/2025 17:58

Haven't had a bath in about 10 years and don't miss it a bit. I find baths a waste of time. Quick shower rather than lying around in a bath.

Each to their own.

MyAcornWood · 12/10/2025 18:01

See, I can only assume I’m doing baths wrong, judging by this thread. If the water is hot enough, any part of my body that gets wet then comes out of the water feels freezing but if the water is any cooler then it just feels yucky. Hellfire hot is the only way, I fear. Then it’s awkward to hold anything like a book or a phone without feeling uncomfortable, and it’s not comfortable to lay your head back at all (admittedly I don’t have a specific bath cushion but still) and then I end up feeling light headed because the room is so hot and steamy and I feel weirdly sweaty so not really very clean… it’s just all shite, in my humble opinion.

Oganesson118 · 12/10/2025 18:02

Each to their own. I mean YANBU if that's what you enjoy. I personally hate baths, I find them too hot and uncomfortable but it sounds like it's your thing so why not.
