To bloody love a bath

It's my favourite leisure activity atm, even more than sleeping (which is usually my favourite).

I can lay back, relax in the hot water, listen to music or browse the web on my phone, read a book, have a glass of wine, take care of myself in a calm way eg shave, exfoliate, wash my hair (not all at once obvs 😆)

Best thing is, ALONE TIME, my kids are now old enough not to want to join me in the bath every single time! 🍾🍾🛁🛁

Baths are epic. We have a huge bath now, and I got a bath board and pillow for Christmas, even DS loves the bath board as he can watch tv/football/YouTube while in the bath.
DH has come in from a run and is now in the bath with a beer and the Scotland match.

AmpleSwan · 12/10/2025 18:06

A scalding hot bath is the thing I am missing most during pregnancy. I would take the ability to boil myself into a soup over wine, over coffee, and even over not randomly vomitting over unexpected posessions.

DeanStockwelll · 12/10/2025 17:51

I love my bath , I spend far to long in there and often fall asleep .
I don't have a shower but if I did I'd probably only use it if I was in a real rush

Isn't it dangerous to fall sleep in the bath? Like couldn't you drown? Sometimes I feek sleepy and my eyes keep closing but im scared to fall in the bath so I get out

inamo · 12/10/2025 18:20

It's nice to hear how much people like things such as baths. I often wonder if I should have one now and then and what am I missing! Except I don't have a bath anymore, I couldn't get my leg over the rim these days without breaking my neck ha ha, seriously!

I was away one time in a hotel that had a kind of sunken bath thing. I got in fine, but I couldn't get out of the damned thing, and I was on my own too. Obviously I got out eventually but not without drama and the fear of slipping etc.

So as much as I like warm water wallowing, it won't be in a bath anymore.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 12/10/2025 18:26

Omg, my favourite thing in the whole wide world. Bubbles, good book, glass of wine and a double raspberry/mango n coconut magnum. There is seriously something wrong with people who do not succumb to this basic pleasure.
😊

Bluevelvetsofa · 12/10/2025 18:27

I enjoy a bath too, but the getting in and out is more problematic these days.

cardibach · 12/10/2025 18:28

Nope if I want to lie and read, the sofa or bed are much more comfy. Baths are hard. And bits of you are always cold. And you risk ruining your phone/book. Have a shower, do the self care, wrap up warm and retire to bed. Much better. (And I have a bath big enough to lie flat in. Still don’t use it)

Retrogamer · 12/10/2025 18:29

Yeah, I agree. I feel so relaxed. Sometimes too relaxed as I used to fall asleep.
My current house doesnt have a bath. I do miss it, will eventually put one in when we can afford to.

Sagaciously · 12/10/2025 18:30

I absolutely love a bath, I have one every evening and can easily spend 2 hours in one. Our bath is the perfect lying down length. I hate it when baths are too long.

APC303 · 12/10/2025 18:38

Currently in the bath filled with epsom salts and some bubble bath effluent.

DustyMaiden · 12/10/2025 18:42

I love my bath it’s huge. Since I had the water meter put in it’s scary how much water it takes.

Aliflowers · 12/10/2025 18:55

Preach!

I love my bath. I have one every evening. Shower for me is something I do out of necessity in the morning and to wash my hair. The baths the time I relax and chill. My best friend knowing how much I love them bought me a bath tray a few years ago which I place my phone/tablet in and light a candle. Watch a show or listen to a podcast.

Favouritefruits · 12/10/2025 19:01

I love a bath so much that I have two a day 😬 one in the morning and another b4 bed! I know the environment impact but I don’t drink or eat meat and it’s my one luxury

Curlygirl06 · 12/10/2025 19:03

I have one every evening, Alexa, Simon Mayo, paper, bubble bath- perfect. Shower in the morning to wash my hair, but bath time is my time to myself, and I don't even have any children left at home! However when the grandchildren are round they usually come and talk to me when I'm in the bath and that's lovely.

Hellogoodbyehowdoyoudo · 12/10/2025 19:03

With some stuff from the Lush shop. That is my happy place.

WalkDontWalk · 12/10/2025 19:06

Nah. don't get it at all. Uncomfortable. dull, and with the constant topping up with hot water, much too demanding of attention. No idea how anyone can relax in a bath.

Incidentally, one PP says she tells the kids to go to the loo before she locks the door for an hour.

This, I suggest, is one of many good reasons not to have the bog in the bathroom, and I can't think of an upside of doing so. Whose stupid idea was it to put the toilet in the same room as the bath and shower?

DiscoNights · 12/10/2025 19:09

I love baths, especially in the winter. Coming home after a long day, tired, achy, cold, damp, then running a hot bath full of bubbles and relaxing in it, and feeling all my aches and pains lessen, is one of the best feelings in the world.

EBearhug · 12/10/2025 19:11

I love a good bath. I also love swimming. I don't read in the bath, but I do listen to the radio/Sounds . (Not the news, I want to be relaxed.)

I once had an abscess, for which I was advised to take a salt bath twice daily. It was a terrible hardship...

I do feel it's very decadent, having a bath in the day, though.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/10/2025 19:17

Love a bath. I had one earlier where I watched some YouTube, then read my kindle, then exfoliated and shaved. Quick shower to rinse off and wash my hair, fresh pjs, done. I was in there for about two hours and drank two cans of Diet Coke.

DingDongJingle · 12/10/2025 19:18

Forestfire12345 · 12/10/2025 17:30

Mother of Christ no! It's too hot, then it's too cold, you can't hold a book with wet fingers. You come out feeling filthy ..aaarghh my absolute nightmare 🙃

Why would you come out feeling filthy?! Unless you’re filthy getting in?

Hatty65 · 12/10/2025 19:22

I love a bath NOW (DC are all grown) but honestly, when they were kids and even as teenagers it was a nightmare. You couldn't lock the door because the loo was in there, and someone might be desperate - so they basically saw me as a trapped audience! I never managed a bath without someone coming in, putting the toilet lid down and sitting next to me, telling me all about their day, their woes, their mates' problems.

Jakadaal · 12/10/2025 19:22

I love a bath! Nice bath oil or bubbles, glass of wine, scrolling on iPad or reading and complete and utter peace. My greatest indulgence in winter is having a bath in the afternoon lol

Ilovemybathroom · 12/10/2025 19:22

Absolutely love my bathroom and NC for this! Nearly commented on the other thread about getting rid of a bath in favour of a shower to say “don’t!” but obviously many people prefer showers. I don’t get them at all.

To bloody love a bath
DingDongJingle · 12/10/2025 19:23

Showers and baths have different functions in my opinion. Showers are for getting clean. Baths are for relaxing.

HoldingTheDoor · 12/10/2025 19:24

Each to their own but personally I detest them and don’t understand the appeal.
