Should I feel guilty for doing this when WFH?

I WFH 3 days a week, I get everything done that I need to and my manager is happy with how I’m getting on.

There is the odd lull in the day, and increasingly recently I’ve been using this time to ‘have fun’ shall we say with my DP, who is usually finished with his work and home by 2pm every day.

I am technically getting paid for this, which we always have a laugh about after.

Would you feel a bit guilty? As I said, I’m getting all my work done.

TMI

could have just said you wrap up early when work done

do whatever

3.30pm I take it now you’re sitting up in bed, fag in hand, mumsnetting on your phone on the other

I think that’s a matter for you and your manager. I don’t really know why you felt it necessary to share the details with us. I couldn’t care less what you get up to.

ExpertInAbsolutelyZero · 07/10/2025 15:45

It depends if you are paid for results or for time spent working. If the former, then your boss being happy means you don’t have to feel guilty.

I wouldn't worry about it. Sex is good for destressing, so you're probably a better employee for it!

Just, for goodness' sake, make sure you have all phones/cameras OFF (well, work ones anyway!) before you get down to business.

Just don't look TOO happy at your work - folks might get suspicious 😎

lazyarse123 · 07/10/2025 15:50

No i don't think it's right. Either ask for more work or reduce your hours. Shit like this why, when it's discovered that people are being told to go back into the office.

Barso · 07/10/2025 15:50

You're entitled to a 20 minute break away from your workstation, which you can use however you like.

Cheepcheepcheep · 07/10/2025 15:53

On the rare occasion DH and I are wfh together it’s pretty much a guarantee. However we don’t take the piss with it - I’ll usually work though my lunch and instead have a couple of half hour breaks. It’s too good an opportunity to pass up as it’s the only time the 5yo and the 3yo aren’t in the house.

Cleo65 · 07/10/2025 15:55

Literally - why would you even think to put this on here? I can't imagine anyone cares either way. How very odd.

BeBluntPinkRobin · 07/10/2025 15:56

Oh and I am sure, like me, you've noticed the timewasters when you were at your office. Every office has at least one. Someone (usually a man) taking half hour shits with a newspaper, water cooler chats about last night's TV and so on, people who could wallpaper their offices with their sicknotes...

I am self-employed and get paid for what I actually do, so I if I bunk off it costs me, but I still think you're fine!

Bored? Nothing better to do? Attention seeking? Nothing good in day time TV atm?

Overtheatlantic · 07/10/2025 15:59

Did you just read about Gabby Logan doing the same thing during the day with her husband? It’s in the DM.

Deedeebob · 07/10/2025 16:01

Lol

EllaPaella · 07/10/2025 16:01

Don’t think any of us really care what you’re up to. It’s your line manager you need to ask, not mumsnet!

Doubt if she and her DP could ‘manage’ with twenty minutes!

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 07/10/2025 16:06

So you want us to share our stories...?

PizzaPowder · 07/10/2025 16:15

I love doing this as well OP. Makes it better getting paid for it 😂

Tagyoureit · 07/10/2025 16:48

My dh and I would make full use of a quick 20 minute "coffee" break when he was wfh.

Maybe just dont put it in the Xmas newsletter!

I don't think she is worrying about it.

She is just getting some sort of extra thrill out of sharing this information about her sex life.

Notajogger · 07/10/2025 17:49

I'd feel too guilty about it

Bloobelly · 07/10/2025 17:49

You should “feel guilty” about starting this daft thread OP

Tiggermad · 07/10/2025 17:55

I manage staff who wfh and we do have odd lull days.
They work extremely hard on the days we are busy.
Its hard for me to control what they are or aren’t doing if we have lull day.
I personally wouldn’t do what you do because I’m paid to work in that time so I’d find things to do like self learning or courses.
But not sure what your manager can do if you aren’t busy.

BeBluntPinkRobin · 07/10/2025 18:08

Why is everyone biting at the OP, she hasn't typed anything that would make even the most maiden of aunts have the vapours.
