Should I feel guilty for doing this when WFH?

I WFH 3 days a week, I get everything done that I need to and my manager is happy with how I’m getting on.

There is the odd lull in the day, and increasingly recently I’ve been using this time to ‘have fun’ shall we say with my DP, who is usually finished with his work and home by 2pm every day.

I am technically getting paid for this, which we always have a laugh about after.

Would you feel a bit guilty? As I said, I’m getting all my work done.

Haha I’m back at my desk now

I hope you washed your hands

Noglitterallowed · 07/10/2025 18:11

Go for it! If all your work is done and you’re a good employee a quickie during a quiet point in your own home is nothing.
some of the comments are clearly from people not getting any

Goldfsh · 07/10/2025 18:13

I also feel terrible if I do this, although if I do laundry I feel okay!

I don't think it's something you should discuss with your manager. Unless your manager is your spouse.

Jaybail · 07/10/2025 18:13

I feel guilty if I step away from my desk to go to the bathroom! I usually work through and go during my lunch hour, but I have a very busy job. I am always conscious of the idea that people have a preconceived idea that WFH means you are 'tossing it off'- OP quite literally is doing that.
If my work was up to date I would be asking the other members of the team if they had anything they needed my help with, I wouldn't be taking breaks on the company's time

AuntieLemonade · 07/10/2025 18:18

The pearl clutching on here… how could you OP… 🤣

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 07/10/2025 18:22

Just be funny when you have to take a call rather suddenly as those are your set hours. Why you had to share those details with us all 🤢

Climbingrosexx · 07/10/2025 18:23

It's no wonder there is this misconception that wfh means loads of free time and slacking off. I work from home and I log on/off at the right time, take my designated lunches and breaks and my manager would know if I had been taking the piss. Sounds like you need more work to do

Skybluepinky · 07/10/2025 18:24

This is the reason lots are now asking people to go back to working in the office as they are over paying people.

youalright · 07/10/2025 18:26

I think it depends on the job i have no issue with people doing whatever they want when working from home aslong as your not supposed to be answering the phone or replying to emails from the general public. I swear since wfh became more common companies and the nhs never answer phones or emails its really annoying.

Haha I’m back at my desk now

Ha ha ?????
i’m shagging on work time … AIBU ???
Yes - what you looking for ? A round of applause ?? What an odd post ?!

Overtheatlantic · 07/10/2025 15:59

Did you just read about Gabby Logan doing the same thing during the day with her husband? It’s in the DM.

No, as I don't read the Paper that Supported the Blackshirts.

However, if work is being done, how you use breaks should not be something to feel guilty about. And if is when DC are out of the house, I don't blame the OP.

AgnesMcDoo · 07/10/2025 18:43

Most people are entitled to break from work.

what you do on your break is up to you.

BrickBiscuit · 07/10/2025 18:46

Many years ago I had a job where it was possible to have sex on site during paid time without being discovered.

Holdonforsummer · 07/10/2025 18:49

Are you the couple from the Viagra advert that’s been on TV recently?

HK04 · 07/10/2025 18:51

So you’re scr*wing your DH and your employer at the same time!?

coravantexel · 07/10/2025 18:53

Such a weird post. No of course you shouldn’t be having sex on company time. I can only assume that you are posting this to show off about your hot sex life but I don’t really think anyone on mumsnet will be impressed, given we are not teenage boys (mostly).

Doggybroc · 07/10/2025 15:47

Odd thread

Yes. Rather goady.

Easterchicken · 07/10/2025 19:00

Cleo65 · 07/10/2025 15:55

Literally - why would you even think to put this on here? I can't imagine anyone cares either way. How very odd.

To upset the "and this is why we can't work from home now" folk and to brag that shes doing what most people do and shagging their other half

zigazigaaaing · 07/10/2025 19:07

no different to making a cuppa in the office and chatting to your colleagues for 20 mins, just time better spent!

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 07/10/2025 19:14

Blimey. And theres me thinking it was going to be about loading the dishwasher & putting a wash on whilst WFH!!

Itstheshowgirl · 07/10/2025 19:16

These threads just feed the ‘people who work from home do fuck all’ narrative which for the majority of us is nonsense.

I think threads like this are just made up to feed an agenda and get everyone all worked up about ‘lazy’ wfh workers.

If it’s real then just keep these details to yourself no one cares about your sex life.

HeadsWinTailsLose · 07/10/2025 19:24

Would you behave similarly in the office? You know it’s wrong, you’re taking the p* I’m sure you can find something else work related to do.

DrowningInSyrup · 07/10/2025 19:24

Doggybroc · 07/10/2025 15:39

TMI

could have just said you wrap up early when work done

do whatever

3.30pm I take it now you’re sitting up in bed, fag in hand, mumsnetting on your phone on the other

Don't judge others by your own standards and be careful not to set light to your duvet.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 07/10/2025 19:33

Interesting first post, as they say

Zanatdy · 07/10/2025 19:44

i’m sure you’re far from the only one, and part of the reason why many companies want staff back in the office more days!
