Should I feel guilty for doing this when WFH?

I WFH 3 days a week, I get everything done that I need to and my manager is happy with how I’m getting on.

There is the odd lull in the day, and increasingly recently I’ve been using this time to ‘have fun’ shall we say with my DP, who is usually finished with his work and home by 2pm every day.

I am technically getting paid for this, which we always have a laugh about after.

Would you feel a bit guilty? As I said, I’m getting all my work done.

Oh dear.

MNHQ have put this thread on FB and someone's basically called the OP a prostitute, to which they got loads of likes?! 😳

Very off topic indeed. You must be fun at parties. All the best employees will vote with their feet and your company will be left with underperformers who can’t get a job elsewhere.

In fact in my industry most tier 1 institutions are now full time in the office or pretty much. They also tend to be the top performing ones so I disagree the underperformers will be the only ones left. Rather the opposite.
I was the first to say that I was highly efficient at home and as long as I delivered (easily measured by a P&L) I didn’t need to be in the office. However as a manager I now have to be in every day and can see the benefits, even if it doesn’t directly impact my performance. And as I wrote before this is not just me saying it - I have yet to meet the CEO of a performing listed company who “genuinely” embraces WFH.

I have plenty of colleagues who take time off in the afternoon to do the school run. The flexible working arrangements at my workplace is that it’s fine as long as they get their job done and make up the time earlier or later in the day if they need to. Consequently, I wouldn’t have an issue with someone taking time out for any other reason, whether it was going for a run, getting the washing off the line, watching Bargain Hunt or fucking their partner. I don’t need to know what they’re doing or why, and I don’t care.

Blimey you've really wound up all the mumsnetters not getting any

are you 13 years old?

I don't understand some of these negative comments, pointless thread comments etc. It's no less pointless than most of the stuff posted on here. Is there some jealousy around OP having a good sex life and work/life balance?

This! Mumsnet is a place for posting all sorts of nonsense
99% of the threads are pointless info why the pearl clutching on this one

JustYourAveregeMillennialMam · 08/10/2025 06:55

I tend to clean, put a wash on etc. when I’ve got a quiet few minutes.
(My husband works in a different country Monday to Friday so there’s no hope of me getting paid to do the nasty sadly)

I was going to say prepare for the classic mumsnet snitches to come out in force but it’s already happened 🤣

Dorosomethingbeautiful · 08/10/2025 07:46

Loads of people make pointless posts on Mumsnet, this is no different. Many people do other stuff when they are supposed to be working from home so enough of this sanctimonious bullshit

Usernamenotav · 08/10/2025 11:46

It's weird that you don't think everyone is doing this. You're not special 🤣

Ha ha ?????
i’m shagging on work time … AIBU ???
Yes - what you looking for ? A round of applause ?? What an odd post ?!

Right?!

@Globewalker well you’re obviously not guilty because you repeatedly did it.

Just come clean and say you want to brag about having sex on works time and getting away with it - such a rebel! 🙄

You sound like the "dream employee".

You obviously don't have any career progression goals I take it and are happy to just do tke bare minimum that you can get away with and skive off as much as you can.

Just consider the situation if you and your partner worked in the same office and you had the same behaviour abd just bunked off to the nearest supply cupboard?

Are these your thoughts, or your partner putting words in your mouth?
Is he jealous...?
If your works fine, boss is happy, why would you even consider such thoughts?

Noglitterallowed · 07/10/2025 18:11

Go for it! If all your work is done and you’re a good employee a quickie during a quiet point in your own home is nothing.
some of the comments are clearly from people not getting any

No, I would think the comments come from people who don't want to have long commutes to work 5 days a week because people like the OP are taking the piss and bragging openly online about it! I've seen numerous threads on MN about piss takers that work from home and skive and bosses will see these threads and wonder their workforce are doing when they work from home!

Most of us actually have to be available to take calls and stuff! Most men work a full day as well and can't come home early to mess about.
How does the OP hide being away from her computer when inactivity shows you as away pretty quickly! It's foolish as it's a sackable offence and every post like hers hammers nails in the coffin of WFH for everyone.

Most grown ups have to work full time and their computers show them as away if inactive for too long!! Do you think your comment is clever? It just hammers nails in the coffin for everyone working from home! Who permitted you to speak on everyone's behalf?

Many don't piss about either but they'll suffer the consequences because of the skivers! If they have to commit misconduct, can they at advertise it online! A boss could read these very comments and go into work tomorrow and say "right i want you all in every day of the week from now on".

ilovegranny · 08/10/2025 20:55

Unreasonable, unprofessional, and TMI.

SixtiesHermit · 08/10/2025 21:02

This is exactly the kind of post that employers are thinking about when they decide to make all their employees return to the workplace full time. Well done for giving them the ammunition and spoiling it for WFH people who don't take the p**s.

I’m sure CEOs base their decisions on random posts on mumsnet 😀

Friendlygingercat · 09/10/2025 01:33

When I was an academic I had certain tasks to complete by an agred date. I usually WAH about 3 days a week. It was up to me to organize my work load so that the tasks were done to the required standard by the required date. So I sometimes went shopping or watched TV on a WAH day and did the work in the evening or at weekends. I knew that my boss went out twice a day on her WAH days to walk the dogs. Neither felt any requirement to sit at the computer for set hours.

BeFastDreamer · 09/10/2025 08:04

Incredibly weird thing to share on mumsnet, you clearly want to make some kind of weird “brag” as if you are getting your work done then why do you (or anyone else for that matter) care?

Loopylalalou · 09/10/2025 09:31

When WFH my manager was more interested in me getting the work done to a high standard than how and when I did it. If you’re not missing something important, why worry?
