To finally agree with a junior doctors strike

Junior doctors have decided to strike as they are being overlooked for jobs / training posts which are instead given to international applicants. I’ve always abhorred their money grabbing strikes in the past, but support this one 100%. UK doctors should be recruited where possible, and international graduates only turned to where we cannot find a suitable recruit in the UK.

This one was quite unpleasant (one of accusing me of being racist). There are many.

Be nice. It’s not helping.

Racism - different and not a word which has been used (certainly not by me - also not by anyone else).

EasternStandard you've in effect said that you haven't read the full thread. Perhaps you should before appointing yourself as some kind of monitor. You'd also have to read the four or five preceding threads where I've been the subject of endless goady posts and silly photographs of grey rocks, coupled with the juvenile crying-with-laughter-emojii. That's what the definition of not nice is. Really very not nice.

I like UKGs and think they are awesome. As does Mr Prinsley. Mr, as he is a consultant. Thought better make that clear.

I posted four of my Venice and Paris photos for a very particular reason.

It is. Being a 'proud nation'. All the references to Reform. How could anyone not think the underlying message isn't xenophobic. Reform is such an organisation. Nationalism is such a movement. How can the message not collectively be xenophobic?

Ah so we are all racist ! You don't even know where we all come from - hint, there used to be signs saying no me when I was a child. Now that's xenophobia. Advocating for non UK born doctors to be allowed to get jobs in the NHS is not.

I have twice, explicitly, spelled out the distinction between xenophobia and racism. This is enough to make strong men weep.

It is not racist or xenophobic to want UKMGs to have priority in their own country. Just like 93 other countries and exactly what we had up to January 2020.

Leave racism out of it PurpleFairyLights. It's not been raised as an issue so stop trying to slide it in.

Although the unpleasant account from one poster about not being able to understand the heavily accented English of her doctor was coming very close to racism.

No-one has so far made any charge of racism and so yes, before you start trying to falsely impute it, better to stop that sort of stuff in its tracks.

I believe there was a veiled reference to it and said so at the time.

However a number of posters have called out the xenophobia and nationalism on these training post threads. In my view, quite legitimately.

My sympathies. I had exactly the same experience with a tank of cichlids.
