Backlash against Trans women

ITVeveningnewsclip · 18/09/2025 19:24

(Story on ITV news about drag performer who died after taking drug ketamine, not suicide, just a regular user it seems who took more than usual.) Thus post isn't about him.

Anyway, bloke during story moaned that 'we are currently seeing a backlash against trans at the moment, particularly trans women' (men), and 'that's not a world I want to live in'.

I mean seriously, the TRA has been abusive to women for years for even mentioning any concerns, yet now trans women are victims (again). Perpetual victims it seems. These men are frankly ridiculous. I get fed up of the men in dresses and their victimhood.

Women are disadvantaged in certain ways and trans women (or men who present as feminine even if they don’t call themselves trans women) are disadvantaged in other ways. There is a genuine conflict of rights in some cases. But I don’t think this combative discourse between the two sides, of which this post is a perfect example, is helping resolve anything.

I mean this person is right isn’t he? Lots of people strongly dislike trans women. As evidenced by the fact you’re on here complaining you’re “fed up” of them. That doesn’t mean women don’t also have plenty of problems.

I'm fed up of the whinging from them. I don't dislike them as individuals. They come over as tone deaf to the struggles of real women.

Vast majority of trans women do not want to disadvantage women. You live in fear because of a tiny majority that is being blown our of proportion (on places like Mumsnet too). How many trans women do you actually know and how many of them tried to harm you in any way? I guess the number is zero, but you still feel the need to rant and be 'fed up with them'. Get out from your cave, go and talk to trans people, they dont bite.

It's people like you who whinge and are tone deaf. Look in the mirror! Stop projecting.
You know both trans and biological women can struggle, it's not either or, it's not a race to the bottom.

Theunamedcat · 18/09/2025 19:39

Why is the death of someone taking an illegal substance anything to do with backlash against transwomen? They did it to themselves they made themselves a victim 🙄 nothing to do with backlash

We did.
They do.
Because they are men who do not respect women's boundaries.

What exactly is this ‘conflict of rights’ you talk of?

This is what I see too - most trans women are reasonable, understanding people who just want to go about their lives in peace - but while the TRA exist, and try to insist transwomen belong in women’s single sex spaces transwomen will be loathed. TRAs are trans people’s worst enemies!.

childofthe607080s · 18/09/2025 19:44

The “vast majority “ of men are also no trouble to women yet there are enough bad apples that the law considers certain protections reasonable

although if you look at the prisons population I would argue that there are a disproportionate number of bad apple transwomen

oh I know - they don’t count - they must be lying because

The mere fact that a man, any man, can claim to be a woman, mimic women, enter women’s spaces, expect others to see them as women, is enough to show that they are disadvantaging women.
Your use of the term ‘rant’ speaks volumes.

Winederlust · 18/09/2025 19:48

The issue here seems to be the constant shoe-horning of the 'woe is me' trans narrative into something that has naff all to do with it.
I agree, trans people experience issues but they are completely different issues to those experienced by women (and if I'm honest a lot of their issues are self-inflicted or exacerbated by the activists).
I don't think it's any wonder that people are fed up of hearing about it.

SoMuchLego · 18/09/2025 19:48

I think it’s because the barriers to being a trans woman are very low. Any man who says he’s a trans woman, is one.

And it’s also because trans women aren’t in fact denied an existence by anyone, or for the most part I’m sure, discriminated against.

It’s just that trans women don’t get to control what other people think or say, and they don’t get to use women-only spaces to validate their feelings. And whilst most trans women I’m sure pose no danger to anyone, because the barriers to entry to being a trans woman are so low, caution against nefarious intentions is definitely prudent.

It could also because being trans-anything could be seen as being disingenuous. It’s actually the opposite of being your authentic self to my mind; it’s demanding to be accepted by the people around you, and society as a whole, as a something that you’re not, and never can be, with the flimsiest of reasoning behind it.

I REALLY don't want to talk to anyone deluded enough to believe it's possible to change sex.

They need to go campaign for their own rights then, not try and strong-arm women in to making room for them.

Thanks for this. Anyone who sees this and still propagates far left Marxist propaganda is frankly a bit thick.

Nope. The number is not zero thanks. I was a trans ally until someone close to me transitioned. That made me very painfully aware of the harm and toxicity of the trans movement. It’s not benign.

This link doesn't work for me, are you able to say what it shows?

2021x · 18/09/2025 20:06

There are 2 important factors.

The average woman is the approximately same strength as an average 12 year old boy. Before men transition and live "live as women" they might want to consider how it feels to be a fully grown adult, with the strength equivalent of a child. Thats what it feels like to be a woman.

The second important factor is that most violence that is done to women is a) done by men b) majority of the time it is sexually motivated and c) is done behind closed doors. Therefore the single-sex spaces that women are trying to protect have a function.

Sausagenbacon · 18/09/2025 20:09

To be frank, are you new to MN? This discussion, and variations on it, have been pursued on the Gender Board, inside Feminism, for years. You might like to pop over and take a look.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 18/09/2025 20:13

The "backlash" you talk about is people finally waking up and seeing a bunch of entitled men (mostly white middle aged men - the least marginalised demographic in the world btw) stomping about riding roughshod over women's rights, making threats, gaslighting and destroying their families in service of a fetish.

Its called a "backlash" for a reason. We're well sick of it.

It’s a woman reading out quotes by trans people - violent, fetishistic, misogynistic.

I can answer this.

I have had 3 experiences of men who said they were transwomen in the general public.

  1. A patient that I (a woman) needed to be chaperoned for because they had assualted 2 female members of staff. This person refused to use the male/disabled toilet so they had to clear out the female toilet.
  2. A drunk and violent man entering the female toilets during our pub quizzes.
  3. A young man entering the female changing room, open-plan. I checked the gym policy, they said nothing about inclusivity, when I asked them they said they were only given permission to go in after 7pm (it was 5pm).

All of the these times the trans women had asked for something, and then taken a bit more. They may not be the majority of trans-women, but the risk is too high for women when we start blurring the boundaries.

GimmieABreakOr3 · 18/09/2025 20:15

I feel that a lot of trans women problems are self-created. It was a choice to become trans. For us biological females, we did not have a choice.
