Mumsnet censorship

anonymouselephantx · 11/09/2025 11:38

Mumsnet has been deleting any comment at all that criticises Charlie Kirk... just because he has died does not mean he is infallible. He is still an evil person who did and said evil things, contributed to so much suffering of families at the hands of ICE etc., mocked the Palestinians undergoing a genocide? Mumsnet, disturbing much? I had to get MN by email to delete a thread of mine as I was getting bullied and people were making personal attacks against me (the talk guidelines say personal attacks will be deleted, yet I had to BEG for this), but they are censoring anything anyone says about Charlie Kirk? Why are we not allowed to have freedom of speech and freedom to debate, especially when it is someone who did and said SO MUCH EVIL!

He openly said that if his own daughter were raped, he’d force her to carry the pregnancy to full term and give birth to her rapist’s child.

Did he actually just volunteer this as his opening gambit on abortion or was he questioned directly and personally about the strengths of his beliefs?

There are many on the Christian right who would also think this if pressed. Rather like the Jehovah's witnesses who would deny their child a blood transfusion.

For clarity I am pro abortion, any time for any reason. But I think you are missing a LOT of context.

Nope, I watched the full debate when it came out.

Tbf op lots of religious people have extreme views that you won't agree with. I think Muslims for example are very anti gay, anti trans, anti abortion etc .

Are they all evil too?

In the end, we have to get to a place where these views, different as they are, can co exist.

I’m not going “lower,” I’m just refusing to extend empathy to a man who spent his career stripping it away from others- including victims of gun violence, immigrants, LGBTQ+ people, and Palestinians.
Kindness and compassion matter, but they’re not infinite. I choose to direct mine toward people and communities who actually need it, not toward someone who openly dismissed empathy as weakness.

Exactly. This is a man who would have likely advocated for violence against me, as a bisexual woman who doesn’t want children.

Gloriia · 11/09/2025 13:33

anonymouselephantx · 11/09/2025 13:31

Whether he was just killed or not does not change what he spent his life saying and doing???

Well it does. It's about showing a bit of restraint and kindness. Think of his family if nothing else.

Doesn't hating so much drain you a little bit?

lookingforwardtoautumn2 · 11/09/2025 13:34

I have never heard of him until yesterday, but no one should be murdered for having opinions. No one! The people celebrating this are vile and probably the same people who are against the death penalty for violent murderers. Seeing the reactions from some people has made me very scared for the world and freedom of speech.

That’s a really unfair and frankly offensive comparison. I never said “all religious people” are evil. I was talking specifically about Charlie Kirk and the things he personally did and said.
Plenty of religious people (Muslim, Christian, Jewish, whatever) hold progressive, compassionate views and actively fight for equality. Lumping whole faith communities together as “anti-gay, anti-trans, anti-abortion” is stereotyping and it’s not ok. Grouping all Muslims into one stereotype is actually crazy.

Palestinian children lose their parents every day and Palestinian parents lose their children every day and he MOCKED that. So no I don’t really feel the need to mourn him.

You've said this a few times. Could you post evidence of him mocking the death of palestinian children.

Swiftie1878 · 11/09/2025 13:35

IGaveSoManySigns · 11/09/2025 13:30

I feel for his wife and children. This is tragic.

But in his own words, empathy isn’t something he believes in. When children were shot in schools he said that their deaths were a consequence of the second amendment, and “unfortunately” they had to happen. I’m not going to sit here and pretend that just because he is dead his views are palatable and okay.

I disagreed with practically every word that fell out of his mouth.
He was just murdered.
Let’s give it a rest.

He was asked to clarify if he would force his ten year old daughter to carry a baby if she was raped and he said he would.

Yes and so would many on the Christian right because they believe that all abortion is wrong.

I disagree with them wholeheartedly but those are the views of many.

He was asked this question deliberately by someone who wanted to bring his child into the debate.

WhatNextBanana · 11/09/2025 13:34

All you need to do is look up his name + Palestine. You can see all the awful things he has said. When Netanyahu himself is a fan of you, be concerned (that's just a side note).

MNHQ are also deleting any presumption that the black man who murdered the white women because she was white, is in any way racist against white people.

He boasted afterwards to the other passengers as he walked down the train, ‘I got the white lady!’

The Left only view racism as a one way street.

WhatNextBanana · 11/09/2025 13:37

Swiftie1878 · 11/09/2025 13:35

Thanks.

The @anonymouselephantx has claimed he did, hence my request for evidence. So @anonymouselephantx will you show evidence of your claims or just keep claiming it.

You have said he is evil because of his beliefs regarding trans, LGBT and abortion. I asked if you think other religions who have similar beliefs are 'evil' too.
That is not stereotyping it is a simple question.

The irony in you asking why we cannot debate or have free speech on a post you claim you had to get a thread deleted because you didn’t like people wrote is hilarious.

Especially when you call a man whose entire personality was to campaign for free speech and the right to debate, ‘evil’.

Are you aware that when YOU make a claim the onus is on YOU to substantiate it, not on others to go check what you claim. So again, can you evidence what YOU are claiming?

Worktillate · 11/09/2025 13:31

@GasperyJacquesRoberts Haven't you just posted something very similar on another thread?

Well, at least you're consistent. And you definitely have a narrative.

As is stands, do I think this was anti free speech? Less so than I think it was anti 'views we don't like so we're going to shoot the man'.

I'm not in the US, so the politicisation of gun deaths isn't something that resonates with me.

And as it stands, I consider myself neither left nor right - I'm politically ambidextrous. I have my views on many issues and where they land is where they land

There’s no irony. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom to launch personal attacks. I had a thread deleted because people were breaking MN’s own rules by targeting me personally not because they disagreed with my opinion. That’s not “debate,” that’s bullying. They actually broke the rules of the thread.
And as for Charlie Kirk being some champion of “free speech” - let’s be real. He wasn’t defending everyone’s right to speak, he was defending the voices and platforms that aligned with his politics, while trying to silence or discredit others. Calling that out doesn’t make me anti–free speech, it makes me honest about who he was and what he did.
