@Judashascomeintosomemoney

Farage is "probably racist"? Probably?????

What evidence do you think shows that he is?

God help this country if Reform get in. I hope we can then get small boats over to continental Europe and claim asylum!

I’m sure your claim would be as valid as I suspect is the claim of many of those coming this way.

She should have kept his privacy, rather than used to get this reaction.

Another stooge showing us the supposed purity of the wealthy British middle/ upper class. Sure, I totally believe you would be so pure if you came from Britains northern gutters. 🤔

If she’d been born into wealth like Farage and Trump and bloody princes Andrew and Harry she would have been given the money for that weeks pocket money or drinking money.

That small conveyancing company came out fighting. I hope they become more and more successful due to the way they handled this.

Shame on Rayner for bringing her disabled son into all of this whilst using his trust to pay to live with her latest boyfriend.

Yep, this pretty much sums it up.

It looks like Lammy is out of the foreign office. That's good news at least.

I thought the foreign office was the place Lammy could do the least damage to the UK.

In his old job he had no real ability to deviate from established UK positions and the civil servants would have been able to keep him on a tight reign.

She's lucky she isn't in Russia - she would have had the window treatment..,...

Many on here would shove her out too....

You what now? No idea what you’re talking about

Giving dc privacy is a basic consideration

Noodledog · 05/09/2025 16:39

I had a degree of sympathy for her until she tried to throw a small conveyancing firm under the bus to save her own skin. Really shitty behaviour, and I'm glad she's gone.

What evidence do you think shows that he is?

Does anyone seriously believe that Farage is not a racist?

There was how he was percieved in school by all his peers as a hitler loving, unapologetic racist - https://www.theguardian.com/politics/ng-interactive/2024/jun/14/he-was-a-deeply-unembarrassed-racist-nigel-farage-by-those-who-have-known-him

  • That time that he expressed his "discomfort" at hearing foreign languages
  • His love of Enoch Powell
  • The "Breaking Point" Brexit poster
  • His referral of a "Jewish lobby" and "A New World Order" and other anti-semetic rubbish

He is a clear racist, that tempers his views in public.

Alexandra2001 · 05/09/2025 16:41

She was asked to be transparent about her tax affairs, the purchase of the property, her living arrangements.

Its idiotic to suggest she could have done that without talking about her son, his disability and the whole reason for the trust.

Prior to this, the trust was supposedly a vehicle for her to avoid IHT, she had no choice in the matter, with the support of the childs father.

just pp using everything they can to attack her.

Surely Jeremy Hunt?

Bought 7 flats and in doing so avoided any additional SLDT, using a loophole he himself had just introduced.
Of course no faux outrage from the 'right over this...... guess he was in he correct lane....

What on earth was Rayner thinking?? Get the law changed first, then you can avoid tax lawfully.....

Hunt bought property which was dealt with under Labour’s 2003 Finance Act property definition, but i guess that doesnt fit your nasty Tory nice Labour narrative? It’s automatically applied; he wouldn't have even needed to tick the (wrong) box on a form. Despising somebody who has enough money to invest reflects far more poorly on you than on them; he's living rent free in your head (ironically) 🤣

She did get advice. Just not good enough advice.

She was advised to obtain specialist advice. She didn’t follow advice.

I mean, it might be something that you don't like hearing. Doesn't mean that it's not true though is it? Doesn't mean that it can't be backed up coherently by multiple things he's done and said?

InveterateWineDrinker · 05/09/2025 16:49

She is a coarse and divisive class warrior who clothed her cynical opportunism in the guise of authenticity and relatability. It was the latter that got her elected as deputy leader of the Labour Party.

She is also, alas, just not intelligent or credible enough to be the Deputy Prime Minister and while moving Lammy there may actually strengthen the government, Rayner's departure is devastating for the country as a whole. Reform will organise a recall election in Ashton, which will succeed, and Rayner will lose her seat to Reform so we'll see more pandering to the Faragiste doctrine.

But worse than that, the narrative that all politicians have one rule for them and another for us becomes even more entrenched.

Brunettesmorefun · 05/09/2025 16:49

cardibach · 05/09/2025 15:42

Except she didn’t lie. That’s very clear in t(e report. She just failed to get extra specialist advice, which had been recommended by her solicitors. It’s clear she was open about the situation throughout, and she had it in writing that she didn’t need to pay more than she did - with a caveat that she should get specialist advice to check. She didn’t do that, which was stupid. But it isn’t lying, or cheating.

She did say that she ‘followed legal advice’ which seems to be untrue.

TBC99 · 05/09/2025 16:50

How very disappointing this is. You'd hope that our leaders would demonstrate honesty and integrity, but if not that then at least show enough sense to realise such an action would be easily found out, and so not do it.
Stupidly on top of a shortage of integrity is really unforgivable

Exactly. Plus whatever those MPs said in defence eg Streeting below was kaput. They couldn’t repeat that now.

‘Jeremy Hunt received a “bulk discount” on seven flats bought from a Conservative donor, the Guardian can disclose, as parliament’s watchdog opened an investigation into the health secretary’s admission that he breached money laundering rules.
The health secretary was forced to apologise for failing to declare his part-ownership of a company, which bought the luxury seaside flats in Southampton.’
