How the fuck are you meant to deal with them ? They grow at a massive speed!! 3 x a week im plucking the bastards out. I’m 34 and frankly this is ridiculous. it’s going to get worse and honestly I cba dealing with them but I will become the bearded lady if I don’t pluck them out and don’t even get me started on the lip hairs!

A facial epilator - over time they get less and less - now have to use it every couple of weeks - mine’s a Braun

Dundonia · 31/08/2025 00:36

Yeah I hear you. PCOS is a bitch.

Unicornskies · 31/08/2025 00:52

Upper lip I get threaded every couple of weeks. Chin I get waxed every now and then but that's mainly to get rid of the overall 'peach fuzz' which no one else but me notices.

But yes the random thick chin hairs are insane. One minute my chin is smooth yet suddenly the next day I'm plucking out a long dark spiky hair that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. It's very satisfying to pluck out but I agree, it's gonna get worse with age and I don't know what I will do!

Yes! I have car tweezers now as I’m driving along and find another fucking hair!! It’s the really thick ones too. I can’t laser them off because I’m ginger and it doesn’t work on my hair sadly but I could try threading however I’m such a coward when it comes to pain! I can cope with eyebrow threading and lip hair is a step above! Why does it hurt so much??

Salon down the road about every 4 weeks (with underarms) I tweezer any that annoy me inbetween unless it's only a few days until my next appointment, I hope they stop growing soon! I'm 56 & they have migrated from the south to the north!

PennySweeet · 31/08/2025 00:59

I hear you.

I'm 56 and I've gone from plucking every few days to sometimes plucking twice a day.

I pull one hair and then a few hours later, a mini hairy housing estate appears in its place.

aWeeCornishPastie · 31/08/2025 01:00

I am a chin plucker nothing better than pulling them all out

It does hurt! But it's only seconds & it's SO good to be minus the grey shadow above the corners of my mouth.

I found it was making the skin on my chin 'lumpy & bumpy'

amtrying · 31/08/2025 01:05

I have had this problem for years ie 40 years!! I don’t have PCOS but some random genes have bullied me for years!
I tried electrolysis but now I just ensure I have a mirror and tweezers in the car to pluck away when out and about 😭

It’s bloody awful isn’t it?? When I was 17 in sixth form this guy who I vaguely knew literally pulled my one chin hair out in front of all my friends with his nails. I nearly died inside

I had electrolysis on mine for about a year and in that time they gradually grew less then stopped growing in completely. This was after I had my 1st child 22 years ago and touch wood I've had nothing grow back since, so I'd really recommend it.

MagnusCanis · 31/08/2025 01:28

Your menfolk of a certain age will see your chin hairs and raise you: nose hairs and ear hairs, keeping male pattern baldness up our sleeves for the next hand.

Charltonstrek · 31/08/2025 02:12

I love plucking them out lol waiting for some nice fresh ones

FortuneFaded · 31/08/2025 03:26

I hated PCOS chin hairs. I’m starting to get tit hairs now. Like areola eyebrows ffs.
I used my Phillips Lumea which works very well, except on the thick white ones which I pluck. One thick wiry white hair is always in growing and creates a lump. I need to have patience to cut if off and allow the skin around it to heal.

cheesycheesy · 31/08/2025 03:32

I have one random coarse chin hair. Love plucking it. My upper lip I wax easily myself with strips.

SiameseBlueEyes · 31/08/2025 04:55

I have a short electrolysis session when I notice one popping up. it works out at about three month intervals - it's menopause in my case. This avoids suddenly realising you've been walking round with a half inch black hair poking out of your chin. The skill of the operator is key - you shouldn't feel the hair being plucked out at the end. I have to say its on the painful side.

I did use a home IPL unit for legs and underarms but it's very dangerous to get IPL near your eyes. Professional medical people will insist on lead shields over your eyes if they are anywhere near the eyes and goggles for other areas.

Yamamm · 31/08/2025 04:59

Chin maintenance is part of my daily routine. With phone torch. They don’t sprout in a day. They are there all wispy and invisible then go dark in a day.

ohyesido · 31/08/2025 05:23

I’ve had them since I was 17, never leave the house without a pair of sharp tweezers. I often find my DH bearing down on me with tweezers when he spots rogue one, he loves pulling them. He calls it weeding my face

JustStopItNora · 31/08/2025 05:34

I know people hate this but I do a combo of facial hair removal cream and shaving. I don't have PCOS but have extremely dark thick wiry facial hairs.

I'm saving up for laser removal in theory (but there is always something else that makes demands on my funds).

I am 52 though and this has been an issue for 30 odd years.

whoboo · 31/08/2025 05:38

Bizarre, you got me fondling my face. Thankful not to be a hairy person rn

Oblomov25 · 31/08/2025 05:40

I had electrolysis years ago, now I only need it 2 or 3 times a year.

YetanotherNC25 · 31/08/2025 10:11

Dermaplaning and tweezers in-between. Although some sneaky buggers hide away until they’re noticeable. They’re particularly satisfying to yank out.

Wallywobbles · 31/08/2025 10:12

Get them lazered before they turn white and you’re stuck with them.
