How the fuck are you meant to deal with them ? They grow at a massive speed!! 3 x a week im plucking the bastards out. I’m 34 and frankly this is ridiculous. it’s going to get worse and honestly I cba dealing with them but I will become the bearded lady if I don’t pluck them out and don’t even get me started on the lip hairs!

Electrolysis is the only thing that really works. I had a handful of sessions, and now they are gone. Once a year I go back if a little patch appears (which can happen as you go through hormone changes) but, honestly, it will be like three hairs, when previously I couldn't leave the house without tweezers.

I shave my chin and upper lip with a razor in the morning daily, when washing my face

Me too. It’s the quickest least painful way.

I bought one after reading your comment and good heavens it is an amazing tool. Thank you!

You are very welcome - I take mine everywhere - just in case a long hair magically appears. Initially in hurt a bit but not now. I also use a different one for my legs, armpits and bikini line and, again, after a while it is used less and less. You MUST be careful around your bikini line though!!

How do we prevent them coming back all ingrown in the bikini line?

I've never had that problem so can't answer I'm afraid

I've got a tiny mole on my top lip on the edge of my Cupid's bow. It grows about 3 thick black hairs which I have to pluck out as soon a I can get hold of it. Less than 1mm will be visible but I'll pluck out a 5mm hair

I was 17 when I discovered my first chin hair!

I'm 40 now and have about 10 under my chin. I just run a razor over them 3-4 times a week - it's a 3 second job.
No upper lip hairs, fortunately!

I found it was making the skin on my chin 'lumpy & bumpy'

it does this to me too. Laser did nothing at all-I have more now than ever. I am in my early forties and have had this issue since my mid-twenties. It's just got worse. I dread when my eyesight declines and I can't see them as even now I sometimes struggle if they're in an awkward place-I could feel a REALLY spiky one recently but I couldn't see it where it was, just in the place under my chin where I couldn't see it in the mirror. Eventually I got it. So annoying. I don't know what to do next.

With electrolysis do you have to let them grow unhindered between treatments?

Because that would be awful for me.... mine are so obvious after one day.

That was a problem for me as well, but the therapist went all tough love with me and said I mustn’t pluck them or I’d undo all her good work. My options were to shave them man style or snip them with some nail scissors. Had to do that a few times initially but not now, lasting much longer. Apparently laser is faster but yeah, expensive and only good for the darker beard.

I am not sure what I can do with them. I can’t see them as they are grey and barely visible but I know they are there.

What you need is a magnifying mirror and a pair of magnifying glasses.

Same here! 63.

I haven't had to pluck my eyebrows for years. All the bastard hairs have gone to my chin.

I used facial hair remover every so often and pluck the big buggers.

It's just one of life's little jokes that the need for this facial scrutiny develops just when the eyesight is deteriorating. I have to get my reading glasses on and use the magnifying side of the mirror to see what I am doing.

Me too! Lovely long dark nipple hairs as well (but I see a lovely lady who waxes them & what's left of my underarm hair.

When I appear in the living room, wearing my reading glasses & headtorch & proceed to balance a magnifying shaving mirror on a wine box on the coffee table, tweezers in hand (I have a selection as they need different ends for different places DH has been known to snigger & ask when the mystery went out of our relationship. I say 'you watched me push 3 huge babies out of my vagina and NOW you ask where the mystery went? Shut up & shave your nose & ears before I decide to pluck them out as well' 😂

Ilovepastafortea · 02/09/2025 16:40

I have memories, as a child, of being made to kiss an elderly great aunt who obviously shaved, but not everyday, as she had more stubble than my dad at 5pm. I dreaded her leaving & saying come here I have a little something for you, she would give me 2 shillings & hold up her face for me to kiss when I said thank you. I'd rather not have had to 2 shillings TBH.
