What if the nursery is on his way to work and not his wife’s
shows how unusual it still is for a bloke to actually get stuck in with parenting that the leap is that he must be single 🙄

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/08/2025 19:21

Oh god

Riverbiscuits · 28/08/2025 19:22

My husband does all the morning school runs 🤷‍♀️

Dada?

😂 I was thinking are we on nicknames already?!

SoScarletItWas · 28/08/2025 19:23

That is absolutely the only explanation.

PurpleH · 28/08/2025 19:23

Ur, or his wife/partner works long hours or in a school/hospital etc where it’s not flexible. Nursery is on his way to work.

it’s like it’s the 1950s

TY78910 · 28/08/2025 19:24

My DP does the drop offs 🙄

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/08/2025 19:24

Does he pick up child as well as drop off

You'd better let him know that @ByDandyTurtle thinks he's single 😉

TheUsualChaos · 28/08/2025 19:24

Love the idea that there may have been people who thought DH was single because I never dropped DS off at nursery.

Taztoy · 28/08/2025 19:24

My son does the nursery run every day as it’s on his way to work.

hes not single.

Anabla · 28/08/2025 19:24

This must be a wind up. My husband mostly does the nursery pick ups as the nursery is next to his work. Wouldn't have even occurred to me that someone would assume he's single!

SoSoLong · 28/08/2025 19:24

Seriously? DH used to do the nursery run with our youngest whilst I was doing the school run with the eldest.

MyLimeGuide · 28/08/2025 19:25

It's unlikely but a possibility. You could try talking to him, do some detective work? 🕵

Partlynot · 28/08/2025 19:25

He must be single. It's the only possible explanation for a father doing the nursery run.

Mrsttcno1 · 28/08/2025 19:25

Pretty common at least at our nursery for one parent to do drop offs & the other do pick ups. My husband does the drop offs & I do the pick ups, neither are single!

LemondrizzleShark · 28/08/2025 19:26

Even if he is single, I doubt he wants another nursery mum throwing herself at him when he is trying to drop off his child.

If your approach is going to be so blatant that you need to ensure he is single first, you are way overdoing it. How about just saying “hi” and having a chat?

Or they could be like the 1950s and he takes the only car to work so she has to stay home and do the housework

LondonJax · 28/08/2025 19:26

Would you think a mum is single if she's the only one dropping her child? You wouldn't think (if you thought about it at all)...'maybe she works from home?' 'maybe she has more flexible arrangements?' 'maybe dad leaves earlier (or later) than she does'. 'Maybe the place is on her way and he works in the opposite direction'. So why would you assume he's single?

One of the male teachers at my school drops his child at nursery every day, because he drives past the door on his way to work. His wife goes in the opposite direction. He's certainly not single - it's called team work (or being a couple - take your pick).

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 19:26

Do you assume that all the mums doing the nursery run are single?

In all likelihood, it's less likely to mean he's single because very few single dads have 100% custody but many married/committed fathers do 100% of the school runs.

Me too! I have to agree instead which is too serious.

Ponderingwindow · 28/08/2025 19:27

My husband did all the pickups for years. Happily married. Just an involved parent.
