In general, it's not socially acceptable to approach people in a setting that they have to go to, frequent regularly, and when they're trying to complete an errand/chore/task. This includes places like nursery pick up/drop off, gyms, commuting... It's not fair to make people uncomfortable in that way.

So is in the workplace desperate and socially unacceptable also in that case?

Matildahoney · 28/08/2025 20:13

DH always does pick up and drop off at nursery cos he works is a different building on the same site.

My husband all does nursery drop off and pick ups as I start before him as condensed my hours to let me have a day off a week and he has a more flexible job than me, then I pick up bath and bedtime once I get home and he can finish off work then

They do it to raise funds? Doesn't yours? Poor you. We have excellent outside facilities and the staff make it super fun.

So you don't do it on that one day. Interesting.

Yes. Do not ask out colleagues you don't know at work. Completely unacceptable.

Raise funds? How?

Literally never heard of nursery sports days.

Our twins went to three different nurseries – all of them had sports day.

Well, I've been through a fair few and none if them do sports days...

Yes they are being very abusive on this thread.

I work nhs and at the time my DS was in nursery in a job 50mins away, I was out the house 7am and back at 6:30. my husband did all the drop off and pick up more or less the entire time my DS was in nursery. His job is also a lot more flexible so he can do things like sports day without having to book leave, hence he usually does these things too.

Yes they are being very abusive on this thread.

You asked if you were being unreasonable and clearly have no intention of actually taking any logical advice so why ask, why not continue jumping to conclusion.

Our children are 3 and 3.5

Whose children are 3 and 3.5?

You can't have 2 children that age. And if you mean your child and his. How do you know how old his child is exactly?

I agree with pps. You are acting deeply weird, and your behaviour is stalkerish. Leave the man alone! As a pp said, you would never assume every woman going to the school alone is a single parent!

DS2 takes DGS to stay and play. DDIIL is very real and does something else on that day.

Didimum · 28/08/2025 20:18

God, people on here are absolutely horrible.

He might be single, OP. He might not. Only way to find out is strike up a conversation with him.
