I work in a nursery and probably 1/3 to 1/2 of drop offs are done by dad.

DollopOfFun · 28/08/2025 19:27

What if the poor man is WIDOWED.

Probably needs the help of a good woman to I dunno, plait his daughters hair, or show him how to make stew.

It's like Jude Law in the Holiday... OP might even get herself a hot chocolate in a pillow fort

My husband does all the morning school runs 🤷‍♀️

Keep an eye on him, OP is hunting

InOverMyHead84 · 28/08/2025 19:29

How about just say hello first.

How does he ever find any food in his fridge? He needs a woman to show him where the cheese is....

Does Dandy Love Dada?

TheNightingalesStarling · 28/08/2025 19:30

DH wad always bemused by the amount of times women tried to chat him up when he toom our toddlers to Soft play. Because apparently being single is the only reason a man would do that. (It was their weekly thing so I had three hours child free time at the weekend!)

Men are allowed to do things for their children while in relationships

Petrolitis · 28/08/2025 19:31

My husband did all drop offs and picks ups. I used to work in construction so had early starts, late finishes and sites all over the place so long commutes.

The first birthday party I was able to attend was a bit of an eye opener though, the other mums definitely looked shocked that I existed.

someonethatyoulovetoomuch · 28/08/2025 19:31

My husband does the vast majority of drop off and pick ups because his work is flexible and from home, mine is in a hospital 45 mins away. On the odd occasion I do pick the kids up, there’s always dads in the queue and I’ve never once considered if they’re single or not, just like I don’t think all mums doing pick up alone are single either.

JuniperAndTonic · 28/08/2025 19:33

My husband does all the nursery drop offs and 99% of the pick ups as nursery is on his way to work and I work in the opposite direction. I hope people don’t think he’s single!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 28/08/2025 19:33

Sneakily look at his wedding finger girl, come on, a hot man is at stake

It's so awkward striking up conversations on the school run, you dont want to be labelled horny mum 😭 (never happened to me, I swear)

BeMellowAquaSquid · 28/08/2025 19:39

Could be gay, single, married, engaged hands on, uncle, brother, family friend, step-dad.

Plenty of men do the school runs/nursery drop offs - whatever - well done him!

newyearsresolurion · 28/08/2025 19:40

So what if single?

Dreamondreaminon · 28/08/2025 19:42

Ever heard of working mothers? This post must be bait 🙄🙄

Why am I hoping he turns up hand in hand with another man. Actually, could this prompt a follow up thread regarding a "trouple?"

Katy123g · 28/08/2025 19:42

I mean yes its possible obviously, but so are a number of other possibilities.
My OH did the nursery run for my eldest DS because I didn't drive at the time and he did the drop off on the way to work.

notthemayo · 28/08/2025 19:43

As per many others, my husband does the drop-offs in the morning. Dropping kids off solo isn’t necessarily a sign of singledom.

CheeseWisely · 28/08/2025 19:44

My DH could / would do all the drop offs and pick ups but we do them together as we car share. If I worked anywhere else than where I do he’d do them all by himself.

Icecreamandcoffee · 28/08/2025 19:44

I wonder if all the dads at my DDs school think I'm a single mum because I do 99.5% of all the drop offs and pick ups -because I work very part time (in term time school hours only) so it makes sense for me to do the school run as my DH is usually at work for our family business. Or if quite a few of my mum friends are also all single mums because they do the school run every morning as they have arranged and flexed their work hours to allow them to do so.

In reality, he probably has the most flexible work schedule or the nursery is on his way to work.

ThatJoyousScroller · 28/08/2025 19:44

My husband did all the nursery drop offs because it was right next to his office. Now he almost always does school drop offs as well because then he walks to work. He also doesn’t wear a wedding band because his broke and we’ve not bothered to fix/ replace it.

ByDandyTurtle · 28/08/2025 19:46

rubyslippers · 28/08/2025 19:21

What if the nursery is on his way to work and not his wife’s
shows how unusual it still is for a bloke to actually get stuck in with parenting that the leap is that he must be single 🙄

Edited

She also doesn't do to stay and plays or sports day....

CheeseWisely · 28/08/2025 19:46

To add, I’d say there’s just as many Dads as Mums do drop off and/or pick up at our nursery. It’d be an astonishing coincidence if they were all single.

Again she could be working.
