Just a chat to understand what’s going on with the influx of England and UJ flags all over the streets?

thoughts?
where did it stem from?
is it making you uncomfortable? (It is, me, but not entirely sure why)

I find it very annoying because it's not patriotism it's racists thinking they are clever by weaponising our flag ,it's awful small minded uneducated people .

I think the England flag is very boring, the Union Jack less so. I think we really got the raw end of the deal when it comes to flags. Would be a lot cooler seeing them everywhere if they had a big dragon on like the Welsh flag.

As for the reason people are suddenly putting them up, it feels like it's to show they're anti immigration rather than patriotic. That makes me uncomfortable about it, which is probably gonna get me lynched on here since it seems a lot of MNers are right leaning but hey ho. If all these people just wanted to fly a flag, they would have been doing so for years.

People never were offended by the flag, It’s a myth that racists have got into their stupid heads.

But now those racists are full of hatred and going round flying the flag (and vandalising) in an aggressive display of anger, so people are now feeling a bit scared of the flag rather than offended. We’re not scared on the flag, we’re scared of the racists and what they’re capable of next.

Who is this mythical 'the left' you speak of?

I'm sorry to tell you (well not that sorry) that NOBODY is bothered about the English flag flying. They have flown on town halls and municipal buildings and on private property for years. Decades.

Nobody is offended by a flag. It's just laughable to suggest so.

I did read your post. The flag people are not politely expressing a love for their country, they’re expressing that they don’t wish to share it.

I think I read yesterday that rail services were disrupted by people trying to hang flags from bridges. I don't see how anyone can endorse that behaviour.

I did see a picture when I read the story. I'm on holiday and I can't be bothered to to look for it again. I couldn't care less about whether you believe it happened.

Knew I could count on you to pop up with some anti flag evidence. Do you spend all your time compiling a dossier of facts and figures against patriotic people? Perhaps if you spent less time doing that you might actually see what is really going on in our towns. Enjoy spending your Sunday trying to down play people's real life experiences and concerns.

Why are people who are against racists putting up flags not real life concerns?

I'm fed up of these people talking about 'real concerns' of 'normal British people' as if they hold the monopoly on what a 'real' British person can feel.

I'm fed up of people who live in their own little bubble who haven't experienced the hell that is going on in far too many of our towns and cities because of these hotel residents. The people who have now been moved onto our residential streets in the multiple HMO's that are now popping up as the hotels closed. You and the rest of the people who insult any who dares to fly a flag or show concern, also do not speak for every British person, you do not know how we feel. If we want to fly flags we will, and you don't want to nobody is forcing you to. That's part of the whole reason people feel proud to be British. You are allowed to have different views and opinions without being persecuted for it. Perhaps you should try showing us the same respect you show the people you think are made to feel uncomfortable by our flags.
