To think this isn’t that weird

Suffered with anxiety all my life. Finally found medication that helps. Usually I wouldn’t leave the house alone however today I’ve come into my local town to post some parcels and do a bit of browsing. I’ve just popped into the bistro and currently having a glass of cider with ice (it’s very warm here) DP rang and thinks this is weird.

I’m a SAHM with an incredibly hard 5yo autistic DS and this feels like heaven🤷🏻‍♀️ Would anybody else do this or is it strange?

Cheers by the way🍻

It sounds lovely to me. Enjoy and don’t let your DH ruin it.

Dinosweetpea · 16/08/2025 16:24

I would totally sit in peace with a glass of wine!
He's just jealous 😄

shellyleppard · 16/08/2025 16:25

Sounds like heaven to me especially when you have children. Enjoy x

Sirzy · 16/08/2025 16:25

Enjoy!

Trumpthecant · 16/08/2025 16:26

I’m jealous!

Thattimeofthenight · 16/08/2025 16:26

What could possible be weird about this? Your husband sounds weird.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 16/08/2025 16:26

Not weird. Crack on and enjoy your "me-time". Also, treat yourself to something in the shops. Your DP should be pleased you are getting a break.

MounjaroMounjaro · 16/08/2025 16:27

It's not weird. You're having a tough time and grabbed a moment to yourself. Don't let your husband ruin it.

MarxistMags · 16/08/2025 16:28

Well done you. Have another one on me ! Cheers 😃

LazyLions · 16/08/2025 16:28

Sounds amazing. And a huge achievement given the past difficulties you have described. Don't let your husband spoil it.

TripTrapSnipSnap · 16/08/2025 16:30

Of course it's not weird. I'm surprised he isn't cheering you on for getting out of your comfort zone and enjoying something nice.

Sundaycrunch · 16/08/2025 16:30

No it's not weird and it's nasty of your DP to make you feel otherwise, given that leaving the house at all is usually a struggle for you.

thornbury · 16/08/2025 16:30

Have an amazing bit of me time. I'm often solo in cafes.

BCBird · 16/08/2025 16:30

This is great news. Ignore DP. U enjoy the occasion. Hopefully you wi be able to treat yourself like this again.

Cutleryclaire · 16/08/2025 16:30

Not weird and totally deserved. Looks lovely and relaxing. x

user9064385631 · 16/08/2025 16:31

Totally not weird!
You first mistake was telling him if he’s prone to being a fun sucker…

TripTrapSnipSnap · 16/08/2025 16:32

Definitely make this a regular thing. Some time to yourself and a bit of peace in the day will do wonders for you!

It's also perfectly fine to have a meal and a glass of something nice by yourself.

I'm glad the meds are working for you. 💐

Trickabrick · 16/08/2025 16:32

I would totally do that so if it makes you weird then I am too! After struggling with anxiety for so long, it’s amazing when you have those moments of realising you’re doing things others do without a thought, so you enjoy OP!

supersop60 · 16/08/2025 16:33

If a bloke did it, no-one would bat an eyelid.
Enjoy!

itsgettingweird · 16/08/2025 16:33

My ds works on the coast. We live 10 minutes drive away.

o often drop him off and walk for 3-5k, sit at a cafe on the beachfront with a coffee and my kindle and then walk back to the car and go home.

It’s really good for my MH and I do t suffer with MH difficulties so I think if this works for you you should do it more often.

shellyleppard · 16/08/2025 16:34

@LazyLions i used to sit in the pub with a pint and the paper sometimes just to get some peace when my sons were little. Enjoy your time you deserve it x

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 16/08/2025 16:34

Brilliant!

chipsandpeas · 16/08/2025 16:34

whats more weird is being served cider in a cruzcampo lager glass

popcornpower2025 · 16/08/2025 16:34

What bit is weird? Being out on your own? Having a drink on your own ( funny as men seem to be able to do this all the time)? Or the ice in your cider?.
