Incredibly boring programs - Starting with Ben Fogle

BF lives in the Wild must be the most boring program ever made. Every episode is the same:

“We left the rat race to live in a cow shed in the middle of nowhere. We live on rain water and mouldy vegetables but we’re so happy”

Next minute the socially isolated kids are shown studying butterflies or some shit.

I just can’t stomach it, normally I can sit and watch anything but this just irritates me beyond belief, I have to leave the room whilst DH watches it. The only other thing that comes close is Jools Holland.

Anyone else have such a strong dislike of a particular program?

I watched one tonight about a kitchen and a garden design - fucking boring as hell. Another one that bores me to tears is that goggle box - what even is the point of it 😂☠️🫣 I’ve seen it once - and I feel dumber for watching it 😂

Yes! Watching people watching telly really is as low as you get when it comes to evening entertainment

I’ve just tried once more to watch that Destination X program with Rob Bryant, who I normally love. But it is sooooo boring, trying to be the new Traitors or something, it’s really … not. I give up. I don’t care .!

I can't stand smug farmer Adam and his fancy cows on Country file.

Hasn't he always got some sort of depressing story about catastrophe in the countryside?
John Craven, on the other hand, is relentlessly upbeat and can be relied on to pick hops or make rope in a cheery manner.

Coffeeishot · 13/08/2025 22:25

Police programmes well those motorway cops/night cops drivel dh watches them all and I am sure they are all the same footage with different voice overs absolute dross.

I quite like Ben Fogle's programmes even if he is a nepo-baby.

I hate shit like TOWIE, and Made In Chelsea, and the fucking Kardashians.

Any cooking programmes, especially the ones with James Martin - I have an irrational loathing for him.

The One Show is dire and I have no idea how it's gone on for 20 years. I don't know anyone who actually watches it.

Anything with Helen Skelton in. Can't stand her. All she ever drones on about is how much she has travelled. Who cares?! Many people have travelled. Big deal!

Property programmes with a couple with a £777,000 budget, but can up it to £900,000 for the right property. 🙄 Also LOATHE the property programmes where over privileged twats with too much money are on the hunt for houses to buy, to add to their 'portfolio.' C*nts.

I would make them work in a soup kitchen and only shop at Primark

Monday night is cop night - one after another from 7pm until 11pm. It’s ridiculous

I love Destination X!!!
I also Love Escape to the country as it baffles me how people in there 60's and 70's want to buy a 5 or 6 bedroom house miles from anywhere.
Hate Benidorm, Mrs Brown's Boys and Pointless.

smashedhen · 13/08/2025 22:28

I hate that programme where they go to the tip, take things off people then turn it into a lamp with a ‘pop of colour’ Then they go back and show the original owners their work of art and give them the profit. Then they always pretend that they are going to give it to charity . Makes me shout at the tv

ChestnutGrove · 13/08/2025 22:28

Kirstie Allsopp programmes

Oh god yes they are all on planner ! The one where they just go up and down the motorway is the worst!

Screamingabdabz · 13/08/2025 22:29

“Time Team - they hardly ever find anything. They point at a hole with a trowel and we all have to imagine some foundations or whatever.”

Yep this one for me. Scruffy fleece people scraping mud and getting exited about a tiny piece of brick. Put the cameras away until you’ve actually found Noah’s ark or Excalibur or whatever. Until then don’t bother…🥱

Isn’t that the new George ‘Big Head’ Clarke one ?

CurlyhairedAssassin · 13/08/2025 22:29

I can't stand anything with a load of hyped up angst or drama, usually over making a decision about something or picking someone or something. Love Island, MAFS, Traitors, Britain's Got Talent, etc. Close ups on people's faces at crucial moments of reckoning. Long drawn out pauses before the big "reveal" or answer. So so boring. Get over yourselves, it''s not that dramatic.

I blame Big Brother for all that nonsense. I remember the first one, and it was something different that we hadn't seen before. It was interesting watching the different personalities interact with each other and react to challeneges. Then people realised how much money they could make by appearing in it which started off a whole industry of Z-list celebrities who had become known for the high level of drama or attention they'd garnered for themselve on a reality show.. Completely vacuous. I absolutely cannot STAND all those sorts of programmes, would not know half the people who appear on them if I fell over them and I just switch off if there's a group conversation going on at work or somewhere whre peope are discussing the latest pseudo drama.

I much prefer things like First Dates where it appears to be more about how people actually click. Although even that is heading into shock tactic territory half the time these days. I fear the next new thing really could be Monkey Tennis (a la Alan Partridge suggestions).

Me and Dh rage watch this!

EllyRoff · 13/08/2025 22:31

One on now that irritates me - 24 hours in A&E

Bloke comes in with an interesting and seemingly serious medical issue … next minute his relative is sat talking to us about how they met at a bike fair and how they made ends meet by working 3 jobs each etc etc … no fucker cares Shiela! We just want to know why he’s in A&E - it’s literally the whole point of the program!

TV goes off When Money for Nothing comes on. The stuff they recycle it into is awful, looks worse then when they took it away from the tip,

I really cannot understand Mrs Brown Boys still running, it is unmitigated drivel, I'm sorry but who watches it?

I haven't seen the Ben Fogle program, I did like him in Castaway

Thought I was the only one who dislikes the One Show, and I am beyond done with MasterChef, Celebrity MasterChef and most other cookery programs, but admit I do like Saturday Morning Kitchen

Dislike football so never watch it or anything associated with it.

I am retired and the TV comes on for the lunchtime news and goes straight off again, there is nothing worth watching.

YES - normally love George Clark programs but jeez what planet is that program from! Oooh can we afford to do our kitchen and re-landscape our garden on our budget - a mere £90k - gobsmacked. They spent 60k on a tiny kitchen diner!! Just no.

mamagogo1 · 13/08/2025 22:34

I like it myself, and Jools Holland. We don’t all need to like the same things. The programme I hate is Love Island, and anything featuring “influencers”

Cynic17 · 13/08/2025 22:34

Why are people still watching programmes they hate? If you don't enjoy stuff, switch it off!

Saw The One Show years ago - awful, so I never watched it since.
Saw Strictly twice (once at a friend's house) - absolutely grim, so I never watched it since.

I know I probably won't like reality TV, so I don't watch.
Sadly, the stuff I do like (eg a good arts docs on BBC4) isn't often made these days, so I very rarely watch live TV.

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 13/08/2025 22:35

I can't stand programmes that talk about music. I want to go to a gig or listen to an album, I have zero interest in other people's opinion on these.

DH loves them, I remember one occasion he was watching one on the BBC and there was a segment on 'these are the steps to the studio where we wrote that album' 🤨

Ditto The One Show, Ben Fogle and anything that involves DIY with a manufactured timescale or sense of urgency (I'm looking at you, Nick Knowles). Who's going to do anything if the room renovation takes over the alloted time? NOBODY, that's who.

Ineedanewsofa · 13/08/2025 22:35

Any and all cooking shows, there are bloody hundreds of them! Especially Masterchef and Bake Off…

God yes that is mind numbingly boring! Now the cop night is rounded off nicely by “Crime Scene Cleaners”.

A house covered in blood, furniture thrown everywhere, door bashed in, victim either in hospital or dead from a stab wound …. Then this annoying ex detective comes on saying “in situations like this, you have to consider the possibility of foul play”. No shit Sherlock 🙄

i always turn off the One Show, anything with Nick Knowles in, antiques buying programmes, Love Island.

FurForksSake · 13/08/2025 22:39

I love documentaries, particularly archeology and historical stuff. However, I cannot abide American voiceovers. The subject might be riveting but the style just drives me nuts. I also can’t stand David Attenborough.

I really wish there was an iPlayer / tv option to change the voice track.
